Introduction

Abu Dhabi, the capital city of United Arab Emirates is the second largest out of the seven Emirates population wise. As one of the top ten largest producers of oil in the world, Abu Dhabi has rapidly become a centre attracting international business and tourism. The home for the President of UAE and housing important financial institutions and offices of Federal Government, Abu Dhabi has grown to become an urbanised, advanced metropolis. This has, tremendously increased the number of expatriate population in the capital resulting into adequate economic commodities. Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) is the one and only responsible organization for distributing high quality water and electricity to all the customers residing in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi (excluding the Al Ain region). ADDC is the sole distributor of Water and Electricity in Abu Dhabi, which represents one third of the total population of UAE. Our main business involves planning, designing, constructing and operating the distribution network of water and electricity in Abu Dhabi. Founded in 1998, ADDC has grown to become an efficient business organization that performs consistently by delivering excellent services to its customers. We pride in our customer service and continuously strive to perform even better. We take adequate measures to develop and maintain a safe and economical distribution network in Abu Dhabi. We take pride in associating our name with prestigious stakeholders The Abu Dhabi Executive Council, ADWEA, Regulation & Supervision Bureau and TRANSCO.

ADDC has been honoured by Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award for its service sector in 2010-2011. Our operations have received quality certification BVQI ISO 9001:2008 while our HSEQ has received certifications such as ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS 1800:2007 and a Five Star Health & Safety Management System certificate from the British Council Safety. We have made it even easier for our customers to make their payments online. Our customers may opt to pay their bills by visiting our C.S. centers, through Empost, ADDC Kiosk or ATM Machines or through e-services. Our e-services on our website allows our customers to register online and utilize services such as view account detail, edit personal information, view consumption and payment history, make payment for bills etc. We ensure our customers provision of water and electricity with the highest levels of quality and safety. Our customers are the ones that generate our business and hence, we ensure professionalism and care for our customers in all our dealings. ADDC has been part of some major projects development in Abu Dhabi. These projects include Al Reem Island, Sadiyat Island, Yas Island, Al Raha Beach and Al Raha Gardens etc. The role of ADDC in the afore-mentioned projects was to ensure that the requirements are met for accepting new assets installed into water or electricity network.

ADDC considers the health and safety of our environment to be of prime importance. To do its part, ADDC has its own policy that combines community involvement and performance of principal tasks. In fact, ADDC has proved to be an active member of its community by adopting the Corporate Social Responsibility Program (CSR), a program adopted by ADWEA. Anyone can be a part of ADDC community through online participation. In addition, ADDC has opened gates of communication with all community organizations including environmental and educations institutions for the purpose of awareness about conservation of resources. ADDC has proudly achieved this by sponsoring related campaigns and by organizing and being part of various conferences and exhibitions promoting positive aspects of water and electricity conservation. Such events not only help in highlighting and realizing the community of its social responsibility but also urge other companies to play a greater role in the society. ADDC aims to strengthen its communication with the community by continuously developing and maintaining its service level to its customers and providing them with an even better interactive media where customers have the ease to submit their queries related to water and electricity and also play a vital role by being responsible towards their environment and resources.

Established in November 1998, Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) is responsible for distributing high quality water and electricity services to all customers in the emirate of Abu DhabI

Established in November 1998, Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) is responsible for distributing high quality water and electricity services to all customers in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, excluding the Al Ain region. ADDC’s core business is the planning, design, construction, and operation of the Abu Dhabi water and electricity distribution network. ADDC’s customer base is comprised of 412,540 service agreements for the supply of water and/or electricity, which is distributed to customers at the 33 kV and 11 kV levels throughout three regions: Eastern Region (Mussaffah and Baniyas), Western Region (Liwa, Silla) and Abu Dhabi Island. ADDC is a Public Joint Stock Company that provides a regulated service, with revenues allowed by the Regulation & Supervision Bureau (RSB), the entity responsible for licensing and monitoring the performance of all sector companies. The RSB’s oversight of ADDC is done in the interest of customers, and limits are placed on the amount of revenue ADDC can earn in a particular year via the application of price controls that provide incentives for ADDC to improve the quality of service to customers while reducing costs. ADDC’s license is subject to price control periods which are established every few years. The RSB has already commenced the consultation process with ADDC to establish new price controls that will take effect January 1st, 2010.
