What are the prerequisites to Learn UVM? Universal Verification Methodology (UVM) derived from Open Verification Methodology (OVM) is used to verify the functionality of ASIC, SoC, and integrated circuit design. The underlying language used in this methodology is SystemVerilog. An aspirant who wants to build a career as a UVM verification engineer needs hands-on experience in using this methodology to apply it in real-time projects. What is the need for UVM Training? Most of the jobs in the VLSI industry are verification based, particularly for ASIC design. To get into such companies, one must be good in universal verification methodology (UVM). One of the major advantages of an in-depth UVM training is that it specifies methodologies and also lays out a specific set of guidelines that should be followed when verification testbenches are to be created. As such, the testbench that you create will be uniform throughout across various verification teams. Moreover, it will also ensure cross-compatibility between standalone environment integration and IP, enhanced flexibility and ease of maintaining various testbenches simultaneously. Hands-on training will give you functional expertise to apply your knowledge of UVM in live projects. The training will also help you learn the in-demand skills required for a UVM verification engineer. Basic Prerequisites for Learning UVM If you want to take up UVM training, here are some of the basic requirements you should know about: 

Good programming skills especially in Verilog and SystemVerilog

Basic understanding of OOP (Object Oriented Programming) concepts and SystemVerilog language

Basic understanding of the concepts of Functional Verification such as constrained random verification approaches, test benches and more

Expertise in configuration management
