The site located in the new residential developing area of Bangkok where bunch of buildings are being built. In this project, “The Trust foundation complex� aims to create more quality green space for the community around the site, where there is no recreation park in the walkable distance. That makes going to park takes a long time. So the programs and design are integrated to make this site as a comfortble place for relaxation where can be easily accessed by everyone as if you just walked to your living room.

This project aims to create new urban green space along the railway where it is a lush green corridoor which was left behind. Also, the corridoor can connect the communities which once were divided by the railway through the park. The project dragged the characteristic of local activities,local fishery, as the inspiration for designing to create urban gathering space among local people and tourists where can they can enjoy and relax with nature and indulge with the local tradition ,while spending time here.

The site was divided into 3 parts with characteristic of sea in defferent time, still, weave, and the beach,as design concept and detail in each zone.

According to the renovation concept, the design was adapted from “Local fisherman pier” which aims to create a new local market area where people absorbed the sense and characteristic of the tradition and culture of “phrachuab khirikhan”

“Local fishery” is one of occupations which mostly people do here. But now this job is gradually decreasing due to the changes in time and people. So, one of the characteristic of this area is going to be missing so the new generation will not know much about the history of their own hometown.

The new green urban corridor, along the railway of prachuab kirikhan station, will become the new space of the city which brings more livelihood, interaction and connecting people. Within the project, it consists of 3 zones that immitating the characteristic of the pier, local fisheries and prachuab kirikhan’s sea. Firstly, we add more spaces for the station office and platform to represent the sense of local wooden pier. The following area is once abandoned market, so we bring back the area local temporary shop and kiosks, which is more flexible to the festval and events. The last zone in abandoned pond adjacent to the railway which we turn it into the constructed wetland that could help absorbing more water from the street and add more livelihood in the area by createing the jogging trail, bike friendly footpath and recreation area.

“B-filter” is the design concept that aimsto make “Nakhon khuen khan park“ as Bangkrachao’s sustainable filter, for the physical pollution and also mental pollution ,which can naturally maintain itself .

“Bangkrachao” is always called “the lung of bangkok” because it’s the last “green area” near the metropolis which some say that it produces fresh air and reduce air pollution from the factory nearby. In fact,it actually acts as the “kidney of bangkok”. It’s help fillter the pollution from both air and water before flowing to the sea. Under this knowledge, “b-filter” is typically consist of 3 mains filter fuction as “air polution filter” “contaminated water filter’ and “soul filter”

“Clean air” Using natural ecosystem - trees as the air filter to refine air pollution from the factory nearby and conducting fresh air to the community and all who visit the park.

“Clear water” Integrating natural process for water tratment which recieve water from many klongs in bangkrachao and run through the park before running to chao phraya river and sea

“Calm soul” Make the last green area of the city better by evolving the existing ecology to the more sustainable and self-maintain eco-system.

G. Fresh water storage : One of main problems in this park is the lack of freshwater for nursery planting. This problem make the gardenner to use “tap water� to watering all of them and it cost so much. This pond is seperated from the others to collect freshwater from rainy season.

B. Sediment pond: Get water through west water gate. In this pond the rough pollutant will be fillterd by the marinail plant such as Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides) and Thai Papyrus (Cyperus involucratus).

C. Aeration Pond 2 : Water through the first aeration pond will be now collected in the big lake in the middle of the park. This pond let people help increasing Oxygen level by Water Biking that,itself, containing water turbine at the back. This will increase moe Oxygen to water through biking.

C. Aeration Pond : With its existing shape, this part is quiet narrow ad long that’s suitable to be “Aeration Pond“ which make the water run slower by the concrete bar. Due to the slowwer current, this will increase the oxidization rate into water.

D. Nypa Palm Community : Water will run through this part and Nypa Palm will catch the pollutant in the water.

E. Estuarine Ecosystem : In this pond after filtering by Nypa palm, water will run through Estuarine Ecosystem which some plant’s root help absorbing small chemical in water before let water go out through the east watergate that’s connected to the outside Klongs , Chaopraya river and Sea.

This project aims to renovate the temple that was onced deforested back to the “Natural Sanctuary” for both human and nature. Within the monastery area, it will keep you closer to nature, far from the stress and business from the city. The tranquil natural setting provides the perfect environment for developing peace and wisdom as the Buddhistic doctrine derived from surrounding nature. Thus, reclaiming of surrounding forest also provide the calm atmostphere for meditation and lush habbitats for wildlife. Likewise, this could be considered a metaphor for planting tree back into nature and blossoming Dharma in to one’s soul.

Design Concept.

As Bhuddism teaching was adapted from the surrounding nature in an ancient time. The main concept is to bring back the landscape characteristic of the site. Reclaiming the forest of this area will provide the perfect environment for meditation and lerning Dhamma through the site’s unique natural context, such as landform, rocks and indigenous plants. Likewise, the way the ancient Bhuddhist did.

In this studio, the project is based on the study of the landscape ecology of this area including ecologocal changes, ecological services and how people live with flood in overtime. In this project we, through the studies, came up with the proposal of the way to live with flood more sustainablably which is based on the villagers’ way of living , local economic management and local water management for the village. Also, add more spaces to improve theire well being.

Ladchado village is located in ayutthaya, which is a flood plain of the central of thatland. There is naturally seasonal flooding in the area, so people in the past time knew how to live with flood. According to changes through time, more development has come and taken away the way they can live with flood. It causes the lack of water and ecology management in the village.

Project statement.

Wiang Nong Lom, the intermountain basin in Chiang Rai, Thailand, is an important natural resources with evidence of human settlements since per-historic era. The livelihood of this basin was based on landscape dynamic. The basin acts as a food bowl that provides food security and habitats for both human and wildlife. Nowadays, the basin has faced the rapid urbanization and industrial developments which leads to the changing of community lifestyles, from traditional season-basedagriculture and fishery has changed into industrially intensive agriculture practices.

From these changes, the practices result in biodiversity loss, landscape degradation, community instability, and food insecurity.

This project aims to provide adaptive solutions to rebuild the healthier basin. In adapting the water management and ecological service restoration, the landscape designs hence comprise three focal issues including restoring ecology services through reconnecting water flows, proposing the tradition-integrated rotation agricultural land use, as well as improving community’s social activities.

Seasonal hydrological dynamics in the site divides the the basin area in to 3 areas that are different in inundation period; including 3-4 months, 5-6 months and all year flooded areas.

Water flows from surrounded hills and Seasonal fluctuations of Mekhong river and Maekok river flows into the basin through Maelua river which is a tributary of Maekok river into the basin in the early rainy season. In the early to middle rain season, the basin is inundated and increasing to the end of the season. Then, water level decreases and and flows to Mekong river.

Natee-Nakorn green aquarium Natee-nakorn green aquarium, the proposal aims to return nature back to the city for people in this destination where nature and city are integrated. Under the concept of “contrast node”, the aquarium and waterfront provide the sense of “contrast” in both programatic and aesthetic expression and also in every elements.

The name “natee-nakorn” is a compound word by combining two words “natee“ and “nakorn“ (nakara) which are thai word. Natee means water that represent the simplicity and smooth of natural sense and form, and nakorn means city which is still and solid.

These two words are conflicting the in texture of word meaning that water is so flowing, but the concrete city is so monolithic.

“Natee-nakorn” would become the new city node and represent the new term of “urban green aquarium”

This project aims to represent the new “Contrast Spot� in the city where the simplicity of nature and the complexity in city are integrated in the design.

To introducing the city iconic destination, the design aims to return nature into the city and provide the place for interaction. It also provides the better view when looking down from the highrise.

The design’s objective is to maximize the natural space into the site.According to that our strongly purpose the building mass is mostly undergrond and the rest is covered with green roof which provide more green space and also become the new view point of the East River to the city.

According to our design, the site will become the destination where people can make interaction to each otherand connecting to the nature while enjoying spending time with exciting marine creatures.Futhermore,this project strongly aims to rais awarness and encorage people to re-contemplate the habitats and ecosystem surrounding the city which human are longing for.

City grid deconstruction To emphasizing the complementary of the city and nature in both interior and exterior,the spatial composition and the massing unit aim to make a visual contrast to the exterior city grid by using the curve which deconstruct the urban grid pattern. Also the interior,the aquarium is design to give the conflicting feeling and experience within the space .

Design Diagram.

The Thermal Bath in the place where once was already exploited by human’s consumption. To make human and nature live together freely without any more exploting is to make people profoundly understand how beautiful is the nature and how magnificent it is. And also encourage people to know that everything in nature must some day disappear naturally as natural cycle.

In this project, we adapt the anarchism’s thought with nature to recall it’s history. So we aim to keep the character of mining activities that’s shown by all programs were inside the quarry cave. We interpreted the philosophy as a place where once use by human and then will be completely return to nature. We allow storm water run-through hoping that one day this Thermal bath will collapse by water scouring little by little. All we want is to let nature take its course, let nature recover itself without human.

The design concept is considered under the main workshop topic, “emergent bangkok”. Our team has discussed that the one of significant problems in bangkok which can be called “emergent bangkok”. Our team focus on the lack of green space in the city area which is difficult to developt.

Due to the high price of land and only few emty land lot in the city area,the solution for increasing more green space could be more challenging.

We’ve tried to introduce the new type of green space for the city, thus, we focus on how to get more area whitin the city. Our team came up with the possibility that the abandoned building Sathorn Unique Tower. matched our interest.

After discussing the solution for the topic and problems, we finalized the conclusion as a “mountain tower” aims to transform the abandoned building that’s quite useless into valuable vertical green space. Providing the space for community and producing more oxygen and shade to the city and help increasing the quality of life for people in bangkok. This type of vertical green park will act as if is was a city fillter, producing more oxygen to the city.

The Site.

We chose the site in one of bangkok’s cbd district--bangrak district,which has high density in both residentials and traffics with many pollutions problems. Located in bangrak, the highest abandoned building in bangkok is our interest. We chose “sathorn unique’ the highest abandoned building as our prototype for the project.
