His name was Buddy Holly, the man who in the 1950s, changed the face of popular music forever – the man who in 1959, died tragically in a plane crash, aged just 22. And now, his life and work is celebrated in a hugely successful stage musical, Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, which makes a triumphant return to the Connaught Theatre this month.

The show enjoyed a 15-year run in the West End, followed by more than eight years on the road, right across Britain. It’s been seen and loved by more than 21 million people in over 20,000 performances worldwide. Songs and smiles for mums at the Barn It’s a heart-warming treat for mums everywhere – not to mention a few grannies and aunties. That’s the promise from Music Theatre 2000 when they present With a Smile and a Song, a very special concert for Mother’s Day on Sunday April 3 at the Barn Theatre, Southwick. With a fabulous selection of songs old and new, this is a concert that’s guaranteed to appeal to all ages. Directed by Simon Gray, it features a guest appearance by Hove born singer/dancer Ben Palmer, fresh from playing the Beast in a London production of Beauty and the Beast – together with a highly talented cast, including Karen Orchin, Gary Lynn and Viv Aylward. And it’s not just a musical treat. You’ll be served a

fabulous afternoon cream tea during the interval, with sandwiches and home made cakes. With a Smile and a Song starts at 3pm.
