Introduction
Hi, my name is Matthew Wong, a recent BA(hons) first class honours architecture graduate from the University of Portsmouth.
My passion is to create places for people where they can live true to themselves, be it in working and living environments. I believe that good design stems from caring for the community and the natural surroundings, to develop sustainable design interventions to create comfortable living environments for all.
Aside from learning more about design, I share a strong passion for teaching, and I aim to mentor the next generation of designers in the near future. (and cooking/ exploring any city!)

Residential new build/Extension
When I started working at ADAM Architecture, I expressed my interest to draw and progress technicaldrawingsandwasgiventheopportunity to take on small technical drawing packages for two residential projects, both private, located in NorfolkandHampshire.
With the help and guidance of an architectural technologist, through this exercise I learnt the basics of construction, understanding how different parts of the building work together in tandemtocreatecomfortablelivingenvironments athome.

Ciudad Archipelagos
Granada, Spain
Third year, 2022
BA3 Design: Major Project Synthesis
Ciudad Archipelagos is a new dimension of a hybrid building, a gateway landmark between an economic centre built with residential spaces. The Towers seek to be a sustainable, breathing building, to improve the circular economy in Granada as well as supporting a multi-tier creativeeconomy.
Designed with connection in mind, each floor is seperated into two functions, neighbourhoods and precincts (commercial zones). Each floor is linked together by central cores and skybridges, forming a near seamless connection between eachbuilding.
TheArchipelagosisconstructedwithsustainability in mind, with it’s superstructure built with GLT and CLT, whilst being supported by steel ties. Each home and studio in the towers are prefabricated, built off site and assembled on-site, fullycustomizableforeachuser.

BA2 Design: Architectural Investigation
A creative play+study kindergarten for children aged 1-5, the forest kindergarten is designed for exploration and growth with a near seamless connectionwiththesurroundingforest.
Inspired by the child’s mind, the design takes inspirations from their childhood, namely the imaginaryblanket‘forts’ andtreehouse, creating auniquelearningspacecreatedjustforthekids.
By implementing organic design, natural light seepsintotheinteriorspacesdifferentlythroughout theday, replicatingthefeelingofbeinginaforest. Eco-biomes
Governer’s Green, Portsmouth
Second year, 2021
BA2 Design: Architectural Narratives
An ecology centre designed as a central hub for community engagement and flora, the ecobiomes allow the city residents to gather in a sustainableenvironmentwithdifferentactivities.
Inspired by a natural occurance, ‘crown shyness’ whicharegapsleftinthecanopiesofrainforests, pathways are formed to encourage better biome circulation, improvingeaseofaccessforusers.
The organic shapes visually attract users to enter the biomes, seamlessly connecting them to the next zone. GLT and CLT are the main structural materials, promotinguseofsustainablematerials and construction from off-site prefabrication. Multiple small window slits form on the curved perimeterofthebiomes, mimickingthesmallcells in a plant, drawing natural light into the interior spaces.
