L'autore - The Author Matteo Firmi -itaNasce a Trieste il 21 Febbraio 1984. All’età di sei anni si avvicina allo studio della musica attraverso gli studi di tromba presso la “Filarmonica di Santa Barbara”. Successivamente studia Tromba presso il Conservatorio “Giuseppe Tartini” di Trieste avendo come insegnanti Morosini, Ferrari, Cudiz, Bellucco, Cal. Contemporaneamente si avvicina allo studio della composizione presso l’Iseb (Istituto europeo per gli studi bandistici) con Franco Cesarini. Studia direzione d’orchestra a fiati sempre all’Iseb avendo come insegnanti Jan Cober, Felix Hauswirth, Carlo Pirola e Roberto di Marino. Successivamente insegna presso la scuola di musica della ” Filarmonica di Santa Barbara” teoria, solfeggio e musica d’insieme. Approfondisce gli studi della composizione e direzione frequentando numerosi masterclasses con Andrè Waignein, Philip Sparke, Johan De Meij, Jan Van der Roost. Attualmente è il direttore della cappella corale del “Duomo di Muggia”, è il direttore della “Civica orchestra a Fiati G. Verdi – Città di Trieste” dove insegna Musica d’insieme. Dirige dal 2009 la Banda dei Donatori di sangue di Villesse (Gorizia). Ha ideato assieme a Giovanni Baldini il progetto “Nota per Nota” che ha curato nel 2015 portando numerosi ragazzi ad avvicinarsi alla musica. Come compositore pubblica con Lake music (NL ), Baton (NL), Orchestralart (A), Kliment (A), Mansarda (NL) Tierolff (NL) Eufonia (I) e Mulph (I). Sue composizioni sono state eseguite in numerosi stati europei. Il suo brano “Mala Suita” è stato scelto per il 12 concorso del Friuli Venezia Giulia come brano imposto per la Terza Categoria. Attualmente scrive per la webzine “Amicidelmusical.it” e per “Radioincorso” di Trieste.Nel 2017 partecipa ad una masterclass sulla composizione per film con Hans Zimmer . Ha vinto il 2° Concorso di composizione “Musica Jove” per la scrittura di un paso doble a Valencia (Esp). E stato direttore ospite della Società Filarmonica “G.Verdi”di Ronchi dei Legionari,del “Complesso Bandistico Oratorio Salesiano” e della Societa Polifonica Santa Maria Maggiore e del complesso vocale e strumentale ” Gruppo Incontro” di Trieste. Ha collaborato con i seguenti cantanti Stefania Seculin, Andrea Binetti,Niccolo Ceriani, Maria Giovanna Michelini, Ilaria Zanetti, Raffaele Prestinenzi e Irena – Yebuah Tiran (Slo) -EngMatteo Firmi Matteo Firmi was born in Trieste (Italy), on 21th of February 1984. He started taking trumpet lessons at the Filarmonica di Santa Barbara in Muggia at the age of 6. The following years he continued his trumpet study at the Tartini conservatory in Trieste with the teachers Cal, Bellucco, Cudiz, Ferrari and Morosini. Furthermore he studied direction for wind orchestra at ISEB (European High School for Band Study) with the teachers Jan Cober for conducting, Felix Hauswirth for repertoire and Carlo Pirola for band instrumentation. He also did courses in choral and choir direction with maestro Adriano Martinolli D’Arcy at the Conservatory of Trieste as well as he took composition classes with Franco Cesarini at ISEB, and in the composition laboratory ‘Alla Leopolda’ in Florence.Later on in life Matteo attended master classes at the Conservatory of Udine with Jan van der Roost and Johan de Meij. At the moment Matteo is the conductor of Banda dei Donatori del Sangue di Villesse ( Band of Blood Donors), the choir Duomo di Muggia and he works as a critic for musicals for the webzine www.amicidelmusical.it.

IL BRANO - THE PIECE Scritto nel febbraio del 2018, il brano è un'ouverture descrittiva con forma A-b-A ispirata dalla leggenda Slovena di " Martin Krpan".La scrittura vuole essere propositiva e totalmente didattica. La leggenda di Martin Krpan arriva ad oggi grazie ad un dettagliato lavoro di trasposizioni delle tradizioni e leggende orali della regione della Carniola. La leggenda è molto conosciuta in Slovenia e racconta le avventure di un contrabbandiere di sale. Il brano è dedicato a mio nonno Giovanni e alla sua passione per la musica.

Written in February 2018, the piece is a descriptive overture with A-b-A shape inspired by the Slovenian legend of "Martin Krpan". The writing is intended to be proactive and totally didactic. The legend of Martin Krpan arrives today thanks to a detailed work of transpositions of the traditions and oral legends of the Carniola region. The legend is well known in Slovenia and tells the adventures of a salt smuggler. The song is dedicated to my grandfather Giovanni and his passion for music.
