Enticement of a child is an act, an attempt, or a conspiracy to commit such an act that would constitute a criminal sexual offense against the child under state or federal law. According to Matt Horeczko, it is the crime of luring a child into a vehicle, a secluded place, or a building to commit some sexual act against the child. Enticement of a child can result in state and federal penalties.

Child enticement takes many forms. The crime of enticement of a child may be committed if a person invites or persuades, or tries to invite or persuade, a child under the age of fifteen years to enter any vehicle, building, room, or secluded place with the intent to commit sexual assault on the child. The child need not be aware that the defendant is inviting him or her to enter.

Child enticement is a class 4 felony, according to Matt Horeczko. It is a class 3 felony if the defendant has previously been convicted of enticement of a child, sexual assault on a child, or conspiracy to commit or attempts to commit either offense or if the child is harmed as a result of the enticement.

According to section 60.5 of title 22, C.R.S., if a person is convicted, pleads nolo contendere, or is deferred from punishment after violating the provisions of this section, and the court knows the person is a school employee in this state or holds a license or authorization according to article 60.5 of title 22, C.R.S., the court shall report the fact to the department of education.
