In June 2022, Matlakas was invited to Estudi Tur Costa in Ibiza, Spain. to showcase his work in his solo exhibition entitled: "0 Nation". Ø Nation is an exhibition of works by Riccardo Matlakas. The display included paintings,
ceramic mosaics, performance videos, and relics of works made by the artist in
different parts of the world. All the works included in this exhibition reflect upon the
concept and idea of Nation, National Identity, and human spiritual growth. Matlakas
explains that there is a middle point where consciousness can unfold and this exhibition
explores that very point.
Society presents itself into nations, countries, cities, villages, quarters, and tribes, which
is the way how the world worked so far. With some of the works displayed here the artist
wants us to reflect on equality and connection with different cultures, forgetting at
least for a moment of our national identity, encountering one another face to face.
