OUR STORY

Swadling Brassware was founded by Jeremy Swadling in the 1970s from a small workshop in Petersfield, Hampshire.

Starting as a maker of bespoke wooden canopy baths and accessories, Jeremy then realigned his focus to creating Bathroom Brassware in keeping with the high quality of his original creations and the unique style of period English properties.

It was at this point when Swadling Invincible was born. The collection launched with a range of exposed traditionally inspired Thermostatic Shower Mixers which were among the very first in England to make use of thermostatic cartridges and the first to combine these with an on/off control in the same casting. This raised the bar for performance and safety in the bathroom and became the industry benchmark for exposed and then concealed Shower Mixers.

As Swadling Brassware progressed from these beginnings, expertise became established in the efficiency of water delivery alongside the thermostatic element. Swadling Brassware became the established expert in achieving high flow rates even at low water pressures and this industryleading performance still persists to this day.

Today, Swadling Brassware remains focused on driving Brassware innovation, passionate about working with Classic design and dedicated to creating quality pieces, crafted and finished as carefully as the one-offs in Jeremy’s first workshop.

The Swadling Brassware factory is still based in Waterlooville, Hampshire where all Shower Assemblies, Basin Mixers, Bath Mixers and Accessories are manufactured, plated and polished; operating with an expert team some of whom have worked with Swadling since the early days.

HANDCRAFTED

Our plating and production teams are based in Waterlooville, Hampshire. They craft and beautifully finish every single product by hand, before it is tested, carefully packaged and sent to its new home.

Efficiency of water delivery and precision of water control is at the core of Swadling Brassware Design.

1. PRESSURE AND FLOW

Swadling Brassware Shower Mixers provide high volumes of water even at low water pressures due to the special consideration given to the dimensions, shaping and materials of the internal workings. Baths will fill more quickly and Showers will deliver a more satisfying experience.

Functioning perfectly with low pressures and high pressures up to 5 bar, ensures the full range of Swadling Brassware products are suitable for use with all plumbing systems.

2. TEMPERATURE CONTROL

Swadling Brassware has significant expertise in temperature control and temperature safety in the bathroom. Thermostatic Shower Mixers are accurate and responsive, with a tried and tested cartridge originally designed by Jeremy Swadling. For Baths and Basins, Manual Mixers comprise industry-leading control cartridges.

3. MATERIALS

Brass forms the base material for most of the Swadling Brassware product range. It is a strong and reliable material for use in working parts such as manifolds, controls and cartridges. For visible parts, Brass takes on a superior finish to other materials when plated; our Living Brass and Brushed Brass finishes allow the Brass base to develop an attractive oxidised patina over time.

4. FINISHES

Swadling Brassware expertly plate all components in-house, each component is then polished by hand. The plating and polishing team based in Hampshire have years of experience at producing polished and brushed finishes of unparalleled quality.

Finishes include Chrome, Polished Nickel, Brushed Nickel, Gold, Brushed Gold, Black Chrome, Brushed Black Chrome, Living Brass, Brushed Brass, Aged Brass and Living Copper.

Living Brass, Brushed Brass and Living Copper are natural, unlacquered finishes and will age and oxidise over time, darkening and developing in unpredictable ways. The Aged Brass finish is achieved by chemically advancing the ageing process, it is also unlacquered and will change and develop over time in unpredictable ways. All Brass and Copper finishes will vary in colour and texture between and across parts from the very start.

5. TESTING, STANDARDS AND QUALITY

Swadling Brassware products are designed to the highest performance and safety standards, most products are WRAS approved or have WRAS certification pending.

Flow rate testing is carried out in partnership with NSF International.

All Shower Mixers are subjected to rigorous individual testing for flow and temperature control prior to packaging and delivery.

Swadling Brassware are ISO 9001:2015 certified, adopting a continual policy of improvement.

This brochure seeks to convey an overview of Swadling Brassware and of its collections, products and options for customisation.

We strongly recommend viewing displays and seeking detailed expert advice from a Swadling Brassware stockist prior to purchase.

All images, finishes and colours featured in this brochure are for representation purposes only. Finishes and colours may vary across materials.

GUARANTEE

Swadling Brassware products can be registered for a 5 year guarantee against parts failure, with the initial 2 year period also having labour cost cover. For the guarantee to be valid, the products must have been installed and maintained in accordance with the product installation instructions and the care and maintenance advice on the Swadling Brassware website.

Nickel, Brushed Nickel, Gold, Brushed Gold, Black Chrome and Brushed Black Chrome are guaranteed for the first 2 year period only. The Living Brass, Brushed Brass, Aged Brass and Living Copper finishes are not covered by the guarantee as they are unlacquered. There will likely be variations in colour and surface finish across and between parts from the very start. The finish will then age over time in unpredictable ways as it oxidises, giving the finish a unique and characterful patina. Any other special finishes are not covered by the guarantee.

INSTALLATION

All plumbing installations should be carried out in accordance with Water Regulations/Bylaws. Swadling Brassware products are high performing and are suitable for installation on most water systems, shower mixers at pressures ranging from 0.1 to 5 bar and basin and bath mixers 0.1 to 3 bar. We recommend consulting your stockist and details on the Swadling Brassware website regarding specific product performance and compatibility with your water system.

Unless advised differently by your stockist, all Basin Mixers come as standard with a flow reduction aerator which restricts flow to 5.7 litres per minute. All Bath Mixers come as standard with full flow stream-shapers. Alternative full flow or restricted flow aerators can be specified on the product or ordered separately if required.

Installation Instructions accompany every Swadling Brassware product. They can also be found on the Swadling Brassware website. The complete product must be inspected as it is removed from its packaging. If the product is damaged or there are issues with its appearance, this must be reported to Swadling Brassware prior to installing the product. No claim for damage or issues with finish will be accepted after the product is installed.
