Operation Multiplication Operation Multiplication There are several expression in the mathematics that have several operations and many times students face the problem of how to do order of operations then for defining the order of operations there is very simple concept .This concept states that there will be a certain order to solve an expression that have multiple operations .If we take an example as an expression 14 + 25 / 5 * 11 – 9 / 3 then if anyone solve this expression from left to right then it will not give a right answer because there is a sequence for solving an expression . Here we define the steps to solve the expression having multiple operations as follows: Step no (1) : First of all solve the brackets if they are in expression . Step no (2) : Then solve the exponent or it will define as x of y . Step no (3) : Then do multiplication and division operations . Step no (3) : At the end solve Addition and subtraction from left to right . Know More About :- Type of Quadrilateral

If all the steps are applied on the above given expression then it will be solved as : Expression is 14 + 25 / 5 * 11 – 9 / 3 then according to the above Step (1) : There is no brackets or parenthesis in the expression so omit this step as well as there is no exponent in the expression so step no (2 ) will also be omitted . Step (2): First solve the division operation in the expression as from left to right there is two division symbol that are solved as 14 + 5 * 11 – 3 because ( 25 / 5 = 5 and 9 / 3 = 3 ) . Step (3): Then solve the multiplication operations from left to right as 14 + 55 – 3 because (5 *11 = 55) . Step (4) : now solve all the addition and subtraction operations from left to right side as 14 + 52 = 66 that is obtained as (55 – 3 = 52 and 14 + 52 = 66) . Example: If there is an expression as 7 + (6 * 22 + 3) / 9 then solve the answer for it ? Solution: 7 + (6 * 22 + 3) / 9 is solved by follow the steps : Step no (1) : First of all solve the brackets and it will also treated as an expression and apply all the rules of solve an expression as there is an exponent in the bracket so solve that exponent first as 22 = 4 and then solve multiplication operation as 6 * 4 = 24 and then addition that is 24 + 3 = 27 . Step no (2): After solving the bracket we obtain the 27 and divide it by 9 that gives 3 as answer . Step no (3): At last add 7 with 3 that is 7 + 3 = 10 . These steps of solving an expression having multiple operations also known as steps of BODMAS where B = bracket, O = of , D = division , M = multiplication , A = addition and S = subtraction .
