Let’s keep in touch... Moving Materials has had its last stage at Luxemburg and now Material Sense proudly presents the new tickling format: Moving Materials Virtual. For the IMPT we have led a workshop to create new applications for recycled textile. Creative Director Simone de Waart was one of the jury members for the contest Collaboration-S. And we highlight surprising applications of TyvekŽ.

Material Sense

Moving Materials visited Luxemburg Experience the future of materials today; is the motto of the travelling and evolving exhibition Moving Materials. Design City Luxembourg closed off the journey from the 5th of April until the 22nd of May. One of the new additions here was Gecko. A decorative textile that can be easily removed and played with, based on the principle of Gecko's feet that adheres to smooth surfaces by their microscopic suction feet. Another addition was the rubber 'Sugru'; the clay like material made to repair stuff and to create a personal touch. Visitors could address their most favourite project and the ones that, in their eyes, shows great future potential.

Moving Materials online Moving Materials has travelled the European cities over the last three years. To be able to make the materials visible to a larger audience, Material Sense developed the sensitizing virtual version that can be seen at: www.movingmaterials.eu. Which materials will feed and predict future developments? This criterion was used by us for the final selection for the virtual exhibition. And there is more! Moving Materials offers a digital database supported by visuals of all exhibited materials and products. Do you have materials or products that deserve a place in the database? Propose your work to curator Material Sense via the button 'add your material'. You will help grow the database and create international visibility for your materials via this platform.

Material Sense (2002) is an independent organisation for material innovation. Material Sense researches, develops and experiments with the materiality of products and environment. They make the world of materials visible and tangible through among others travelling exhibitions, lectures, workshops and self-developed methods to experience the value of materials. Material Sense functions as a catalyst within the connection with designers, scientists, educational institutes and innovative companies. They advice in the search for new materials and technologies. Within this search the focus lies on sensorial qualities for the development of products with the most optimal experience within a sustainable society.
