purpose driven design Master Plan Design was initially approached by Joe Mineo Creative to oversee only supervision of construction of the Cloakroom along with the Speaker of The House’s Office during at the Republican National Convention. However, without a conceptual design, location or layout of the existing interior architecture we were tasked with a true design challenge.

Research and creative brainstorming became our initial motivators. A series of planning meetings were scheduled to cover topics such as attendance, traffic flow, guest’s agendas, space concerns, and the overall “mood” and “tone” of the room during the convention. In these “behind-the-scenes” meetings with Joe Mineo Creative we realized our purpose was to develop a design to coordinate with Mineo’s furniture layout and deliver our proposal to the Speaker’s office for approval.

At this point in the time line, only four weeks prior to the event, the location was announced, the Cleveland Cavaliers practice court (inside the Quicken Loans Arena). Mineo’s primary design focuses for the venue were ceiling height, traffic flow, and aesthetics, along with the ability to light the space accordingly.

During the conceptual design phases Master Plan was aware that any concepts brought forth would need to be able to be built and installed if approved. With roughly three weeks until the event and no other contractor able to provide the team and products specified, we were hired to build and deliver the post and beams to the event. Even though the window of time was very short to deliver the design, we did so under two weeks.

Part of our design objective was to make installation a simple, well designed, and efficient process. In accordance with this we wrapped each LVL and I-joist with Oak Plywood, so that each beam was light yet structurally stable and prefitted for an astounding single day assembly. In addition, Master Plan provided the design of the lighting, locations and heights to align with Mineo’s spacial design, while using the walls as a perimeter support for the beam layout.

Our purpose driven design approach allowed our design teams to accommodate a multitude of processes along with accomplishing the needs and desires, of various different individuals and organizations. The final plan incorporated a streamlined working environment seamlessly with an aesthetic atmosphere of grace, while maintaining an air of professionalism.

defining a room Defining a memorable space, in a expansive room, for our nation’s patricians can be a daunting task.

However, in our collaborative effort Joe Mineo Creative selected furniture, textures, lighting, and accessories, that perfectly complimented Master Plan Design’s architectural elements. This allowed the team to create a finished space that encouraged a comfortable and productive atmosphere.

Careful consideration was applied to all areas that the Speaker’s representatives desired, including the Cloak Room and the additional space required for the on-site Speaker’s Office.

During this process, the Joe Mineo Creative team provided and organized every detail, including the accessories and furniture, of both of these incredible spaces. Â In this instance the Collaboration of Joe Mineo Creative and Master Plan Design defined what it meant to have purpose driven design, where form meets function!
