The 2025 Master Builders Australia National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards, held in Adelaide, once again celebrated the very best our industry has to offer. The growing number of entries at the State and Territory level each year demonstrates the value and prestige these awards hold within our sector.
This year’s award winners showcase exceptional buildings and infrastructure projects delivered by the hard-working, highly skilled, and dedicated people who make up our industry. The attention to detail, craftsmanship, and exemplary execution—often under challenging conditions—highlight the remarkable coordination between clients, designers, consultants, and subcontractors. These qualities are on full display across our 50 building and construction award categories and five business excellence categories.
Our awards also shine a light on the incredible diversity of our membership. From residential renovations and new homes to the construction of schools, roads, aged care facilities, highrise developments, commercial buildings, and arts and tourism infrastructure—our members continue to set the standard for quality, safety, and innovation in Australia’s built environment.
The judges noted that the standard of entries this year was exceptionally high, making their task more challenging than ever. Each category required rigorous evaluation to identify the best among many outstanding contenders. In particular, the Young Builder of the Year and Apprentice of the Year categories stood out, with the calibre of candidates making the final decision especially difficult.
Reaching the national awards stage is an achievement in itself, and I commend all finalists for their outstanding contributions. You represent the future of our industry and the enduring strength of Master Builders’ values of excellence and professionalism.
Finally, I extend my sincere thanks to our sponsors for their continued partnership and support. Together, we celebrate not just the winners, but the people, projects, and passion that continue to build Australia’s future.

Façade X delivered over 2,600 square metres of façade at 308 Exhibition Street, installing more than 1,200 unique GRC panels each fixed to bespoke steel frames and connection points. 3D laser scanning and a digital twin captured every structural detail, enabling clash free coordination and the manufacture of single use tooling. Careful batching maintained colour consistency across natural finishes while a detailed sequencing and installation strategy minimised site disruption. A cantilevered scaffold tower integrated with the crane enabled efficient panel installation from levels 12 to 18. Coordinated manufacture and logistics, including 40 containers and 500 local shipments, dovetailed into local steel and final assembly to deliver a precision engineered façade that defines excellence in modern construction.

Fore Group has revitalised West Block, a landmark designed by John Smith Murdoch in 1927 that once housed prime ministerial offices and wartime intelligence. The building was carefully stripped back to a cold shell while heritage fabric was conserved through scaffold access, stone repair and conservation cleaning. New mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems were discreetly routed to protect original ceilings and cornices. Skylights were replaced and natural stone floors relaid alongside bespoke joinery and premium bathrooms. Security was upgraded with a Zone 4 suite and Type 1A systems integrated into the fabric. EV charging and energy upgrades target a 5.5 star NABERS rating. Fore Group has blended conservation craft and modern engineering to secure West Block for the decades ahead.

Multiplex delivered the Western Sydney International terminal and precinct, pairing heavy engineering with refined finishes. Complex airside works included apron construction, aerobridges, a 10-kilometre aviation fuel reticulation and integrated baggage handling, supported by two data centres and new HV, LV and fibre networks. The terminal and landside precinct design is inspired by the natural landscape, referencing sepia ochre sweeping plains, carved creek beds and native bushland with broad horizons and vivid skies. The Blue Mountains' topography inspired an undulating ceiling that casts dappled natural light like sclerophyll bushland. Feature sandstone walls in Arrivals, timber laminate panelling in circulation and generous passive eaves deliver local materiality. Meticulous services coordination and staged commissioning ensured a resilient, high performance terminal. The result is a technically robust terminal grounded in Australian materiality.
