DivYangshala sChool for visuallY iMpaireD 5th Year thesis 2022
Site: Parikarma Marg, Faizabad
Site Area: 8.6 acres
The site is located on the ayodhya faizabad border. The area is equidistant from both placec hence easily accessible from both areas. It is situated on the panchkosi parikarma mark i.e., not the primary busy road. It has low traffic which is good for blind schools.
The thesis topic is school for visually impaired students as there is no such institution available in the city. The state of uttar pradesh is in high blindness zone, so i discovered this major problem is my city and I would like to present my thesis as a solution for it.
It will have all the necessary facilities like schools, vocational training center, hostels necessary for the easy learning and better personality developement of the visually impaired students.
ConCept
BeYonD sight: Manoeuvre
The concept is to make movement on the site more easy and careful by the means of basic building parts. The main motive is to design the spaces in a manner that all the senses other than sense of sight are used in a way that it compensate for the loss of vision. Other than the normal help for blind, we need to design the space in such way that every part of the building like floor, walls and cieling are contributing in the judgement of the visually impaired people.
hoW to aChieve it in Design ?
One of the most common way to guide visually impaired students is through tactile pavings. But we as designer need to make the building more friendly for them with the help of following -
Inside of a space -
- Flooring material
- Sensory walls
- Guide rails
- Braille information board
Outside of spaces -
- Sensory trail
- Landmarks
notaBle Design features
To ease the movement between the spaces sensory trail will be introduced.
It will have a path of a particular material and after some interval it will have different sort of sensory landmarks to identify the space and in front of every building there will be a landmark with blister tiles giving the idea that the destination has arrived.
One of the most important feature in interior of building will be the wooden cork wall.
It will be in the corridor area and will have directional cues carved over it which will help the user to identify the location of the space.
Zoning
The zoning is done in such way that it follows the concept of easy and careful movement on our site. All the buildings are placed in hierarchy of number of outside visitors on our site due to which it will not get crowded at places like school and it will also limit the vehicular movement on the site. Vehicular movement is also limited making sure the smooth pedestrian movement.
forM DevelopeMent
Placing the model on the site according to size requirement of the buiding.
Breaking the geometry to achieve desired form. Further cutting the masses from the shape to create more facades for openings.
Subtracting the masses between the form to create atrium to create openess. Thus achieving the final form.
Subtracting mass from the inside part of the form to create enclosure for the building. it also helps to increase ventilation of the form.

sensorY ClassrooM
In Kindergarten, sensory classrooms are introduced for easy and quicker understanding of shapes, alphabets, animals by their sense of touch.
It will help student from an early stage to learn to depend on their sense of touch for various works.
The size of the classroom is 8000mm X 12000mm which is twice the size of a normal classroom to have ample amount of free space to move.
The classes are designed in such a manner that the cupboards in the classrooms have holes in them to pace an object on it.
The walls of the classroom are divided ito different levels for a gradual developement of difficulty.
The Level 1 will have alphabets so that student can feel how to make different alphabets.
The Level 2 will have shapes for students to identify different type of shapes and picturize a memory in their head about how every shape looks.
The Level 3 will be more tougher with toy animals up on the wall so that they can learn about the animals in a more interesting way.

DistriCt Center 4th Year Work 2021
Site: Sector 91, Noida, Uttar Pradesh
Site Perimeter: 1817 m
Site Area: 50.04 acres
The site is an open land in the sector 91 area. Extremely dense vegetation can be seen at the back of the site. There’s an inter college on the right side and a biodiversity park on the southern side. Shaheed bhagat singh road connects the site to the surrounding areas of Noida sector 136, sector 129 and sector 93 in which sector 93 and 136 are dense residential areas.
The urban design problem is to design a district center which will have institutional, commercial as well as recreational spaces.
There is a big glass bridge in the center of our site to increase the visual connection all around the site to spread the movement on entire site.

OSMOSIS
Osmosis is a process which involves the movement of molecules from a region of higher concentration to lower concentration through semi-permeable membrane.
HOW TO INCORPORATE IT IN OUR DESIGN?
In our design, people are like the molecules who are present somewhere on our site, so we need to use architecture as the semi permeable membrane to encourage people to visit the other spaces of the site and evenly spread on the site.
We have designed the site in such a way that the are alot of open spaces and there is very good visibility from one point of site to another. The cental district is designed with a purpose to attract people and it is connected to all directions for better movement on our site.
struCtural plan
Axes were decided keeping in mind the proposed entries to the site, the landmarks, the visual connects etc. Axes also helped in dividing the site into proportion sections.
The nodes formed where the axes merged. Nodes, by character are places where people or traffic converges. We have our primary node at the centre of the site where four of the axes converge.
Plots are pieces of land that are drawn after the nodes and axes have been decided. These areas are the areas that should ideally be used for construction and massing.
Initial building blocks decides and tentative shapes given to them keeping in mind their functions and forms.

aCtive Wear store 4th Year Work 2021
Site: Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi
Site Area : 460 sqm
The project is of a activewear store in the main market of lajpat nagar. The site being at such a commercial hub will attract more buyers. The user will be from age group of 8 - 45 but the almost 50% of the total footfall is of young age group from 18 years to 24 years.
The theme for the design is futu-rustic which is a amalgamation of two contrasting themes of futurism and rustic. Futurism feel will be achieved with the use of lights in the store to transfer the focus on the products and increase uer’s interest whereas rustic look will be achieved from the exposed elements like raw concrete, brickwork and uncovered duct lines in the cieling.
