— Compositor de canciones que busca reconciliarse con su pasado sin perder de vista el presente.

Quinientas palabras se quedan cortas para hacerle justicia al protagonista de este texto, así que permitan que me salte las presentaciones y pasemos directamente a los hechos. La publicación a mediados del año pasado de “Between Times and Tides” (Matador-Popstock!, 2012) sumió a los fans de Sonic Youth en un clima de desconfianza. Tras el divorcio de Thurston Moore y Kim Gordon, el anuncio de un nuevo disco en solitario de Lee Ranaldo hizo albergar serias dudas sobre el futuro incierto de la mítica banda neoyorquina. Una controversia que el propio guitarrista se encargo de zanjar afirmando que “el grupo sigue vivo; en cuanto volvamos a ensayar y grabar juntos no será como una de esas reuniones de mierda que tanto abundan ahora”. ¿Existe vida más allá de himnos sónicos como Eric’s Trip, Hey Joni o Mote? Asumir lo contrario supondría menospreciar una trayectoria de más de treinta años, prolija en colaboraciones experimentales junto a Jim O’Rourke, William Hooker (Text of Light), Zeena Parker, Maureen Tucker, Wooden Wand o Magik Markers. Por no hablar de su producción poética, con la antología “Road Movies” (Acuarela Libros, 2003) como única referencia publicada en castellano. Pero ha sido a sus 57 años recién cumplidos, cuando Lee Ranaldo nos ha revelado su faceta más dócil y audaz. La del entrenador de un equipo de futbol infantil de Long Island, preocupado por irse de gira y perderse el primer partido de la temporada de su hijo pequeño. Y ante todo, la de un compositor de canciones que busca reconciliarse con su pasado sin perder de vista el presente. Empezando por

Genetic, uno de los temas que no pasaron la criba del “Dirty” (1992), recuperado en directo para satisfacer las demandas de los más incondicionales. “Me parecía interesante interpretar material antiguo como Wish Fulfillment o Karenology (“Murray Street”, 2002) desde un punto de vista acústico, pero empleando los mismos parámetros que con la guitarra eléctrica”. Ahora que Thurston gira en furgoneta con Michael Chapman, conviene recordar que Lee hizo lo propio con el legendario John Fahey. Una experiencia vital que parece haberle marcado tanto o más que la obra de sus reverenciados Tom Verlaine y Neil Young (ojo a la emocionante versión del Revolution Blues del genio canadiense). Ya sea arropado por Alan Litch, Tim Luntzel y su inseparable Steve Shelley o en su vertiente más intimista, el nuevo material no deja demasiado margen a la nostalgia. Grabado en los estudios que John Agnello regenta en Hoboken, nos encontramos ante un trabajo avalado en términos de madurez por quien ya es, en sí mismo, todo un clásico contemporáneo. Algo que canciones como Xtina as I knew her, Off the wall y Fire Island (Phases) se encargan de constatar desde la primera escucha, honestas y rotundas. Por razones como éstas tenerlo con nosotros, más que un placer, es un privilegio. Five hundred words are very few to do justice to the main protagonist of this text, so let me skip the presentations and go straight to the facts. The publication last summer of "Between Times and Tides" (Matador-Popstock!, 2012) plunged the fans of Sonic Youth in a climate of distrust. Nacho Vegas tuvo la suerte de nacer en Gijón, una ciudad que entre otras cualidades, tiene un gran Festival Internacional de Cine. La inspiración cinéfila en su música y sus letras está fuera de toda duda pero enfrentarse ahora a “La Vida es Dulce”, un homenaje musical al cine de Mike Leigh, dice mucho de su decisión. Según sus propias palabras “la música popular en el sentido amplio del término, y en concreto gran parte de la que se viene haciendo en los últimos treinta años en el ámbito de la escena independiente, tiene en su esencia muchos rasgos en común con la filmografía del director británico Mike Leigh...

que ha sabido retratar con desgarro la parte menos amable de una sociedad postindustrial en decadencia, dando voz a personajes perdidos en ella... Son la clase de personajes y de paisajes urbanos de los que se nutren muchas de las grandes canciones de las últimas décadas.” El nacimiento del proyecto “La Vida es Dulce” se fraguó en otro festival de cine, el Abycine de Albacete que inauguró su edición de 2011 con una actuación del cantautor asturiano con música sobre escenas de las películas del gran cineasta británico. Nacho Vegas, acompañado por un grupo de grandes músicos, presentará “La Vida es Dulce” los días 3 y 4 de abril en el Teatro Lara de Madrid (SON Estrella Galicia), el 6 en el teatro Arteria de Barcelona y el 13 en el centro Niemeyer de Avilés (Asturias).

Nacho Vegas was lucky to be born in Gijon, a city that among other qualities has a great International Film Festival. No hice mucho caso, me gusto la melodía y el video que la acompañaba pero paso a una lista de espera. Pasaron los meses y

en navidades me propuse ver los documentales para los Oscar. Fue ver a Sixto Rodriguez sentado en esa foto promocional de los 70 y verlo en pantalla 40 años después con la misma sonrisa, que cuando su música y su historia empezaron a rodar yo ya había elegido ganador. El documental es un género que puede mostrar un pedazo de realidad, contar una historia, o ser un simple ejercicio audiovisual. Es difícil encontrar aquellos casos en que logran escapar de su dependencia de género, de las imágenes de archivo, de los testimonios, cuando consiguen crear un relato cinematográfico donde narración e imágenes fluyan para

descubrirnos algo esencial. Para que esto sea posible, es necesario encontrar personajes y hechos dignos de ser contados y que en su interior alberguen un algo más. “Was it a huntsman or a player that made you pay the cost, that now assumes relaxed positions and prostitutes your loss? Were you tortured by your own thirst in those pleasures that you seek? But I've seen your self-pity showing as the tears rolled down your cheeks.” A year ago I heard this lyric for the first time when someone recommended me a documentary awarded at Sundance. I did not pay much attention, I like the melody and the accompanying video but I put it in the waiting list. Months passed and, in Christmas, I decided to watch the documentaries nominated to the Oscars. At the very moment I saw Sixto Rodriguez sitting in that promo pic of the 70s and I saw him on screen 40 years later with the same smile, when his music and his story began, I had already chosen him as the winner. The documentary is a genre that can show a piece of reality, tell a story, or be a simple visual exercise. It is difficult to find those cases that manage to escape from their dependence on gender, from archival images, from testimonies, when they manage to create a na-

rrative film where narrative and images flow to discover something essential. For this to be possible, it is necessary to find people and events worthy of being told and that have something in their inside. Searching for Sugar Man could have been one of those documentaries about musicians, about what he could be and was not, of historical or anecdotal causalities. However the figure and the music of Rodriguez, his present seen through the eyes of the past, lead us to meet up with values and feelings that open the way to the sincere and warm smile, the one that comes from the inside. Maybe I should say something about his story, about Detroit where he was found and lost, about the lyrics that will be signed by Dylan, about South Africa and the apartheid, about dreams and dreamers, about his songs, about his legend, how he committed suicide on a stage, how he was sought, how they found him. I must say who Sugar was, or who Rodriguez is, but I can only say ... "I wonder how many times you've been had. And I wonder how many plans Have Gone Bad. I wonder how many times you had sex. And I wonder do you know who'll be next."

— William es un héroe. Es el triunfo de las pequeñas cosas. Del individuo que dice SÍ cuando el mundo te dice no. Es un grano de arena que tornó tormenta.

Hace ya casi 8 años descubrí con algunos amigos donde estaba Malawi, su situación, y no sólo geográfica, y sobre todo a unas niñas y un proyecto que cambiarían en gran parte mi forma de ver las cosas. Ese día empezó una de las aventuras más bonitas de mi vida y la cual espero sea mi granito de arena para el cambio global. Al mismo tiempo, completaba una vieja ilusión sobre otros de mis grandes deseos, sueños o anhelos, se abría ante mi la posibilidad de escribir sobre unas de las cosas que más me gusta en el mundo, el cine. Llámalo Karma, como diría el bueno de Earl, destino, o simplemente suerte. Hace unos días buscando temas sobre que escribir en este nuevo número, el karma vino de nuevo al encuentro. Así tras

emocionarte con Sugarman, de quien os he hablado en este número, comencé a bucear en la red sin rumbo fijo. Entonces como por magia, surgió ante mi una historia antigua que espero que el cine convierta en vox populi. Era 2002 cuando William Kamkwamba cambio su destino. Vivía en una pequeña aldea a 2 horas de Lilongwe, sin agua corriente ni luz, y sumida en la mas absoluta pobreza. En Malawi la oscuridad es vasta y densa. Todo lo cubre. Un fundido a negro sólo atravesado por la Luna. Hasta que un libro cayó en las manos de un chico de 14 años, que tuvo que dejar la escuela por no poder pagar 80$, pero cuyo ingenio y perseverancia nos muestran el camino. Con material “reciclado”, una bici, tubos de plástico,

maderos, erigió un pequeño y quijotesco molino de viento, el cual genero la energía necesaria para iluminar unas bombillas y hacer sonar reggae en unas desvencijadas radios. El viento hizo su trabajo y su historia acabó en un periódico local allá por el 2006 y de ahí al mundo, visitas a USA, posibilidad de estudiar, más molinos, una organización para recaudar fondos, un corto, un libro y finalmente un proyecto Moving Windmills Projects para rodar un documental “William and the Windmill” para dar más proyección y conseguir más recursos para desarrollar su país. William es un héroe. Es el triunfo de las pequeñas cosas. Del individuo que dice SÍ cuando el mundo te dice no. Es un grano de arena que tornó tormenta.

Almost 8 years ago I discovered with some friends where Malawi was, its situation, and not only geographically, and especially some little girls and a project that would change much of my way of seeing things. That day, one of the most beautiful adventures of my life began, and I hope it will be my bit for global change. At the same time, I fulfilled an old illusion on other of my great desires, dreams or thrills, the chance of writing about some of the things that I love most in the world, cinema. Call it Karma, as the good of Earl would say, fate or just luck. A few days ago, looking for topics to write about in this new issue, the karma came back to me. So after moving you with Sugarman, of whom I have previously spoken in this issue, I began to surf the net aimlessly. Then, as if by magic, in front of me, an old story that I hope cinema will become of common knowledge. It was 2002 when William Kamkwamba changed his destiny. He lived in a small village 2 hours from Lilongwe, without running water or electricity,

and mired in absolute poverty. In Malawi the darkness is vast and dense. It covers everything. A fade to black only traversed by the moon. Until a book fell into the hands of a 14 year old boy, who had to leave school because he could not pay $ 80, but whose ingenuity and perseverance show us the way. With "recycled" materials, a bike, plastic pipes, pieces of timber, he built a little quixotic windmill, which generated the energy needed to light a few bulbs and allow that some reggae sounded in some shaky radios. — Un montaje para ver más de una vez, un texto para releer, dos actuaciones para recordar y mucho, muchísimo sobre lo que reflexionar.

Y por fin llegó a los escenarios madrileños A Cielo Abierto, la premiada obra del dramaturgo inglés David Hare. Skylight, su nombre original, se estrenó en el 95 en el Reino Unido y en el Teatre Romea de Barcelona en el 2003. Casi diez años después Josep Maria Pou - que ya había sido uno de los actores del montaje del 2003 - la recupera y la estrena el pasado mes de Marzo en el Teatro Español, dirigiéndola, protagonizándola y firmando su esperadísima versión en castellano y sin haber perdido un ápice de actualidad porque hay conflictos que desgraciadamente son eternos. El texto nos sitúa en el Londres de la época postthatcher, donde dos examantes: Tom Sergeant y Kyra Hollis – interpretados magistralmente por Pou y Nathalie Poza - se reencuentran tras varios años de distanciamiento. Él es un

hombre de edad avanzada, de buena posición y con éxito en los negocios y en la vida. Ella, una mujer de unos treinta y tantos, idealista y socialmente comprometida. And finally “Skylight”, the awardwinning play by the English playwright David Hare, arrived to the theaters in Madrid. Skylight was released in 1995 in the UK and in the Teatre Romea in Barcelona in 2003. Almost ten years later, Josep Maria Pou - who had been one of the actors in the staging of 2003 – has recovered it and premiered it last March in the Teatro Español , directing it, with the leading role and signing its very awaited version in Spanish and without losing a bit of validity because unfortunately there are some conflicts that are eternal. The text puts us in the London of the post-Thatcher era, where two ex-lovers: Tom Sergeant and Kyra Hollis - played brilliantly by Pou and Nathalie Poza – meet up again after years grown apart. He is an elderly man, in good position and successful in business and in life. She, a woman in her thirties, idealistic and socially engaged. Poza and Pou offer us a great war of words, where the silences speak as much as the words and where the ghosts of abandonment, the need for forgiveness, the fear or the feeling of guilt of the couple end up transcending and give way to conflicts between two social classes, or rather between two ways of coping and understanding life. This is definitely the gap between these two beings, crazy for each other but unable to assume the motivations, anxieties and vital longings of the person they love. LE CORBUSIER Y LA ESTÉTICA DE LA MÁQUINA LE CORBUSIER AND THE MACHINE AESTHETIC

Charles Edouard Jeanneret (La Chaux-de-Fonds, Suiza, 1887), más conocido por Le Corbusier, representa probablemente el mayor impacto sobre la arquitectura moderna actual. Sus obras en Francia durante el periodo comprendido entre 1915 y 1935 son comparables en importancia a la Bauhaus y los planteamientos del Movimiento Moderno. En sus inicios trabajó con Tony Garnier y Peter Behrens, quienes influyeron sustancialmente en sus obras. Más tarde se trasladó a París, donde asimiló los discursos racionalista y cubista y las lecciones sobre hormigón armado impartidas por Auguste Perret. A partir de estos conocimientos creó la que es posiblemente la arquitectura más brillante y controvertida de la primera mitad del SXX.

En 1921 desarrolló un artículo para la revista L’Espirit nouveau, en el que explicaba el concepto de la machine à habiter (máquina de habitar) mediante la arquitectura geométrica que constituía una ordenación racional del espacio. En 1922 puso en práctica y continuó desarrollando su sistema sobre la construcción y la estructura de la unidad Dominó (un esqueleto de hormigón armado que permitía el trazado de plantas libres). Su segunda Maison Citrohan, vista como versión homóloga del coche Citroën producido industrialmente, plasmaba la idea de la máquina-vivienda y, gracias a su estructura de muros laterales de carga, podía construirse en cualquier parte del mundo e integrarse dentro de un bloque residencial. — Le Corbusier created what is possibly the most brilliant and controversial architecture of the first half of XX century. Charles Edouard Jeanneret (La Chaux-deFonds, Switzerland, 1887), better known as Le Corbusier, probably represents the greatest impact on modern architecture today. His work in France during the period between 1915 and 1935 is comparable in importance to the Bauhaus and the approach of the Modern Movement. Initially he worked with Tony Garnier and Peter Behrens, who substantially influenced his works. He later moved to Paris, where he assimilated the cubist and rationalist discourses and the lessons on reinforced concrete taught by Auguste Perret. From this knowledge he created what is possibly the most brilliant and controversial architecture of the first half of XX century. In 1921 he wrote an article for the magazine L'Esprit Nouveau, in which he explained the concept of the machine à habiter (machine for living) by geometric architecture that constituted a rational management of space. In 1922 he implemented and continued to develop his system on the construction and the estructure of the unity Domino (a reinforced concrete skeleton that allowed the layout of free floors). His second Maison Citrohan, seen as the homologous version of the Citroën car produced industrially, embodied the idea of the machine-house and, thanks to its structure of load side walls, could be built anywhere in the world and integrated into a residential block. His project for a contemporary city for three million people exposed in Paris represented a capitalist and elitist city with skyscrapers set in a park in the center of which were the administrative, commercial and institutional buildings, surrounded by a green belt with cities-gardens for the working class. This idea would later influence many housing programs and the construction of various capitals outside Europe, such as the plan of the architect for Chandigarh (India, 1950) and the Unité d'Habitation (Marseilles, 1951) or that of Lucio Costa for the city of Brasilia (1957).

En estos tiempos online, volver al papel impreso parece más bien retro, aunque es algo que deberíamos hacer más a menudo. Es una de las sensaciones que nos plantea ver la edición de "ExtraBold", libro recopilatorio del trabajo del estudio madrileño Serial Cut. Editado en septiembre por Index Books y presentado durante el mes de octubre en la exposición semihomónima ("ExpoBold") en la madrileña Iam Gallery. Serial Cut es un estudio de diseño madrileño que realiza desde 1999 trabajos de dirección de arte. El estudio fue fundado por Sergio del Puerto y hoy día trabaja a nivel internacional con marcas y proyectos de diversa índole. Hablamos con su fundador para MAS\GALICIA. ¿Cuéntanos qué es Serial

sagradas de la fotografía, diseño e ilustración. Por esas fechas también empecé a colaborar con el periódico El País, donde hacía una ilustración semanal en el Tentaciones (actual EP3). Fueron tiempos en los que dormía 4 horas al día, pero tenía una fuerza increíble que hasta yo, mirándolo con la perspectiva actual, me quedo asustado. Siempre tuve la meta de montar mi propio estudio, y sobre todo crear un estilo fácilmente identificable y que fuera evolucionando poco a poco. Dar el salto a ser 100% freelance fue algo natural, porque la carga de trabajo era más grande y los proyectos parecían más interesantes que los que tenía en la agencia. Asi que empecé compartiendo un despacho, y pasados los años, ya fui incorporando nuevos diseñadores y un nuevo espacio más grande y cómodo, donde estamos 5 diseñadores en la actualidad.

These “online” days, going back to the printed paper seems rather retro, but it's something we should do more often. That is one of the feelings that brings up watching the edition of “ExtraBold", a compilation book of the work of the studio from Madrid “Serial Cut”. Published by Index Books in September and presented during the month of October in the semihomonym exhibition ("ExpoBold") in Madrid in the Iam Gallery. Serial Cut is a Madrid design studio which, since 1999, develops art direction works. The studio was funded by Sergio del Puerto and now he works internationally with different brands and projects. We talk with its founder for Más Galicia. Tell us what is Serial Cut? Serial Cut ™ is the battle name with which I started signing my freelance works, when I lived in Madrid, back in 1999 ... At that time Serial Cut ™ was a one-man project. My work was in the fashion magazine Vanity, where I became art director. The magazine was a good springboard to meet some nowadays consecrated figures of photography, design and illustration. Around that time I also began to collaborate with the newspaper El Pais, where I made an illustration per week in the Tentaciones (today EP3). Those were times when I slept four hours a day, but I had an incredible force that now, even for me, when looking back, makes me feel scared. I always had the goal of setting up my own studio, and above all to create a style that was easily identifiable and that will slowly evolve. Making the jump to be 100% freelance was something natural, because the workload was bigger and the projects seemed more interesting than those I had in the agency. So I started sha-

ring an office, and over the years, I incorporated new designers and a new bigger and more comfortable space, nowadays with 5 designers. What can you tell us about the book you edited in 2012 with Index Book, EXTRA BOLD? ExtraBold is the epitome of the selection of the best works of the studio, from the beginnings to the present. A selection of the best of the best, chronologically ordered. The first 5 years are compressed into 10 pages, because the style was not as defined as it is now. I've been very brave including the first designs, because actually it is something that is part of the studio and it shows the evolution. Since 2005, with the arrival of Paloma Rincón as the official photographer of the studio and the gradual arrival of 3D and beter customers, we gave a bigger importance to the works, including making of sequences as well. But the book has two very special attractions: the access to virtual figures, commercial videos and maling of, websites and images zoom through augmented reality that works with a free app. And in the end, the Remix section, with our nine international favorite designers, who chose one of our works to reinterpret it in their own style. How was the expo at IAMGALLERY? A success. Besides, there is a video of the opening day that shows how it was and the amount of fans, customers and friends of Serial Cut ™ that were there, the truth is that it was extended another week, and according to the AMI guys, this was the exhibition in the gallery with greater impact.

La compañía lanzó el pasado mes de Febrero una campaña en la que invitaba a usuarios de todo el mundo a probar su nuevo producto. Los interesados o como ellos mismos los denominan, explorers, tendrán acceso a las gafas por nada más y nada menos que 1.500 dólares, presentando un proyecto en Twitter o Google+ que complete la frase: #ifihadglass. “Buscamos individuos creativos, atrevidos que quieran unirse a nosotros y ayudar a dar forma al futuro de Glass. sorprendía a todos con la presentación de sus gafas durante el desfile de Diane Von Furstenberg en la Semana de la Moda de Nueva York, donde algunas de las modelos que presentaron la colección de la diseñadora llevaron Google Glass de distintos colores, posicionándolas como un accesorio más. Glass te permite tomar fotos y grabar imágenes con la voz, sin necesidad de emplear las manos, así como compartirlos directamente a través de correo electrónico o redes sociales con tan solo decir: “compartir”. También permite hacer video chats, consultar el clima en tiempo real o usar el GPS mientras caminas. Un aba-

nico de posibilidades que prometen un cambio en nuestra vida cotidiana, acercándonos un poco más a ese futuro que soñábamos de niños. El dispositivo equipado con micrófono y altavoz, funciona con sistema operativo Android, tiene conexión a internet y se maneja a través de movimientos de cabeza. El futuro ha llegado. â&#x20AC;&#x201D; Glass, one of the most awaited projects of the giant Google is almost a reality.

The company launched last February a campaign inviting users around the world to try its product. Those interested in it or, as they themselves call them, the explorers, will have access to the glasses for nothing more and nothing less than $ 1,500, presenting a project on Twitter or Google+ that completes the phrase: #ifihadglass. “David Bowie Is” ya rompió récords de taquilla mucho antes de su inauguración. La muestra del Victoria & Albert Museum de Londres expone más de 300 objetos entre manuscritos de sus canciones, partituras, trajes, fotografías, videos, escenografías, recuerdos y curiosidades como las entradas de su diario. El planeta Bowie tiene nada menos que cinco décadas de recorrido. ‘El Hombre de las Estrellas’ (‘Starman’) sigue demostrando que es un icono legendario, quizás más que nunca. Su individualismo radical y su vanguardismo le han convertido en uno de los artistas más influyentes de la cultura visual y musical contemporánea. No siempre fue así. Mucho antes de poder hacer colaboraciones con Lou Reed, Lennon o Queen, hubo tiempos difíciles. Su primer disco fue un fracaso total y se quedó

"David Bowie Is" beat the box office records long before its inauguration. The exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London shows more than 300 objects including manuscripts of his songs, sheet music, costumes, photographs, videos, stagings, souvenirs and curios like his diary notes. The planet Bowie has five decades of travel. 'Starmanâ&#x20AC;? keeps proving that he is a legendary icon, perhaps more than ever. His radical individualism and modernism have become him one of the most influential artists of visual and musical contemporary culture. It was not always like that. Long before he could do collaborations with Lou Reed, Lennon or Queen, there were difficult times. His first album was a complete failure and he was so frustrated that he tried to enter a Buddhist monastery in Scotland. In those times of economic hardship he had to do some advertising to survive, making choirs, composing for others or playing the saxophone. Now, and from long ago, it is he who refuses projects like acting in the closing of the Olympic Games in London or being on the cover of the reissue of a single by Morrissey. He also rejected the title of Knight of the Most

Excellent Order of the British Empire, saying: "do not really know what it is used for." Bowie is an artist, a pioneer, an intellectual. — After visiting the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, on April 24 at the Museo Reina Sofia a major exhibition dedicated to the artist from Empordà will open its doors. Among the outstanding loans, the MoMA from New York will lent the significant 'The Persistence of Memory', 1931. LA NARANJA MECÁNICA, UNA ALEGORÍA BIEN ENGRASADA A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, AN WELL OILED ALLEGORY

El primer lustro en Gran Bretaña de los sesenta será testigo de la eclosión de movimientos juveniles provenientes de los suburbios de las grandes ciudades. "Esos teddy boys -de los que derivarían al poco rockers y mods- se me acercaban con las manos en los bolsillos de sus chaquetas, como indicando que ocultaban algo peligroso" recordaba en un libro el ex-manager de los Sex Pistols. De todas esas incipientes tribus con alto componente estético tomaría buena nota el escritor Anthony Burguess para la creación de su "La naranja mecánica", novela que le hizo famoso y de la que se acaban de cumplir 50 años desde su publicación. Clásico de la Ciencia Ficción "Clockwork Orange" llevada de manera igualmente exitosa por Kubrick supone una lectura inolvidable, sorprendentemente original y que se lee con vigor si, eso sí, el lector pone de su parte para aprenderse el nad-sat (la jerga rusificada que hablan Alex y sus drugos) que aparece traducida en un glosario al final del libro. Burguess traza ya en ese 1962 una compleja parábola sobre la libertad de albedrío; una sátira acerca de la perpetuación de la violencia que los propios aparatos del estado deberían reprimir, utilizando para ello los recursos de la Ciencia Ficción distópica, el humor negro y la alegoría en la tradición británica de los Jonathan

Swift, Chesterton, o Laurence Sterne... introduciendo de paso en el lector la duda sobre uno mismo y la sociedad en que vive. Kubrick, de manera acertada en opinión de muchos, eliminó para su adaptación (y para fastidio del escritor) el último capítulo de los 21 que componen el libro, borrando así el matiz roussoniano y redentor con que acababa la odisea de Alex y que colisionaba con la mentalidad más hobbessiana del director. Tienen de nuevo una edición de "La naranja mecánica" (50 aniversario) y el "libre albedrío" de olvidar -o arrancar incluso si lo desean- el último capítulo del libro.

Of all these emerging tribes with high aesthetic the writer Anthony Burgess will take good note to create his "Clockwork Orange", a novel that made him famous and that is celebrating the 50 years anniversary of its publication. Classic of science fiction, "Clockwork Orange" equally successfully directed by Kubrick is a memorable read, strikingly original and which is read with vigor if, yes, the reader makes an effort to learn the nad-sat ( the russified jargon spoke by Alex and his droogs) that is translated in a glossary at the end of the book. Burgess draws in that 1962 a complex parable about the freedom of the will, a satire about the perpetuation of violence that the state should suppress, using for that the resources of dystopian science fiction, black humor and allegory in the British tradition of Jonathan Swift, Chesterton, or Laurence Sterne ... by the way introducing in the reader the doubt about oneself and the society we live in. Kubrick, rightly in the opinion of many, eliminated from his adaptation (and to the annoyance of the writer) the last chapter of the 21 that make up the book, thus erasing the Rousseau and redemptive nuance that put and end to the odyssey of Alex and that collide with the mentality of the director, closer to Hobbes. El muro que hoy espera la última demolición, la de la memoria, multiplicó museos, teatros, orquestas y corrientes artísticas por toda la ciudad y las filtró al mundo en dos direcciones, que parecían irreconciliables y se han mezclado finalmente en una, agitadas de sueños, ambiciones y desengaño. Su último fortín, mi favorito, es Tacheles, un centro cultural alternativo donde artistas de medio mundo evitaron la demolición y pintarrajearon el edificio con espontaneidad creadora y rabia gráfica. Porque en Berlín siempre hay un Grosz a la vuelta de la esquina. Lo demás lo ponen los berlineses a pie de calle, los que (cuando el cielo abre) la asaltan en busca de cerveza. Y los viajeros que aprenden de inmediato a decir “prost” antes de mojarse los labios. Supongo que cada viajero tiene su propio Berlín, el de aquel 89 para la historia de Europa, el del verano del fútbol, el de la cosmopolita Belinale invernal, el de las noches del White trash y su

música en vivo entre el swing y el cabaret, el de los domingos de brunch y visitas en grupo a los apartamentos para alquilar, el de la juerga mestiza del pintoresco hotel Alcatraz de mi añorada Schönhauser Allee, el de los baratos y sabrosos platos rusos del café Chagall,… Un amigo escritor resume Berlín como una ciudad para enamorarse, donde los cafés, las cervezas y las mujeres son grandes y coronadas de espuma. Habla de su Berlín. El mío es un amigo alemán recibiéndonos siempre en su ciudad como lo haría un español en la suya. — No hay nada que contenga más mezcla y más diversidad que los mercadillos de barrio. Para los que todavía no conozcáis la maravilla de ciudad que se esconde detrás de tanta historia alemana, deciros que Berlín contiene una mezcla de personas y nacionalidades, momentos históricos y derrocha una personalidad tan propia que hace difícil no enamorarse de ella a primera vista. Y no hay nada que contenga más mezcla y más diversidad que los mercadillos de barrio, llenos de gente, de olores, de colores, y de tantas cosas que poder comprar que se te van los ojos (y el dinero). Es de obligatoria visita el mercado turco de Maybachufer (en el barrio

de Kreuzberg), uno de los mercados más peculiares de Berlín, y uno de mis favoritos. Puedes encontrar cientos de especialidades turcas y también alemanas, hay puestos de telas traídas de Turquía, también fruta y verdura y algún puesto singular como en el que venden lavanda fresca, productos de la huerta ecológica o quark. Es un mercado que tiene mucho movimiento, sobre todo por parte de hipsters que han hecho de este mercado su lugar de reunión habitual. Cambiando de tema, pasa una cosa curiosa cuando viajamos y es que todo lo que vemos nos parece guay y cool, todo es

más bonito cuanto estamos fuera de nuestra ciudad. ¿Por qué no es cool ir al mercadillo de nuestro barrio, con tenderas gritando, lleno de gente haciendo cola para esperar a que te corten el pescado, teniendo que pelearnos con el de al lado para poder pasar? pero, sin embargo, es TAN COOL pasear por el mercado turco en Berlín (con los mismos gritos pero en otro idioma, con la misma cantidad de gente y la misma cola del pescado). Pero así es el ser humano. Es interesante que empecemos a mirar con otros ojos algunos de los mercados que tenemos en nuestra comunidad, como el

Mercado de Abastos en Santiago, que lo tenemos bien cerquita. Abastos es la panacea de los productos frescos y artesanos de nuestra tierra, pescados y frutas y verduras de calidad gallega. ¿Por qué no es cool ver a la típica paisana ganadera vendiendo su cosecha recién recogida y los pimientos de Padrón? ¿Y que me decís de los queseros que nos dejan probar su tetilla? Ay, qué morriña me entra! (la que escribe lo hace desde los confines de la capital inglesa). Estoy deseando volver a casa y escuchar eso de “bragas a un euro, Marías!”.

Why is not cool to go to our neighbour fleamarket, with shopkeepers shouting, full of people lining up for having their fish cut, fighting with the person next to you to get through? but, however, it is so cool to walk in the Turkish market in Berlin (with the same cries but in another language, with the same amount of people and the same fish queue). But men is like that. It is interesting that we begin to look with different eyes some of the markets that we have in our community, as the Mercado de Abastos in Santiago, which is really close. Abastos is the best for our local fresh and artisan products, high quality Galician fish, vegetables and fruit. — No debería permitirse abandonar Galicia a ningún visitante mayor de edad que no haya probado al menos un Albariño, un Godello y un vino de Ribeiro.

Cap. VI - El Blanco. Uno de los momentos de más orgullo gallego de toda mi vida ocurrió en un asiento de Business Class de British Airways volando hacia Pekín al ver en la carta de vinos un Albariño Sin Palabras de Adegas Castrobrey, Denominación de Origen Rías Baixas. Había sido seleccionado en una cata ciega por un comité de expertos y por el creador de los menús de Club World de BA, el chef Cass Titcombe, muy fan de los blancos gallegos y que siempre tiene otro Albariño (Serra da Estrela) en la carta de vinos de sus restaurantes Canteen de Londres. No debería permitirse abandonar Galicia a ningún visitante mayor de edad que no haya probado al menos un Albariño, un Godello y un vino de Ribeiro. Uno de cada. El

Albariño es un vino blanco seco que se cultiva en un suelo de granito y en el clima atlántico, húmedo y tibio de las Rías Baixas, con sus primaveras precoces y sus veranos anticiclónicos. La producción es limitada. El vino fragante y afrutado, ligero y delicioso, de baja graduación y sin crianza, con un olor un poco a albaricoque. La pareja perfecta para el marisco. En un panorama global dominado por la aburrida neutralidad de Chardonnays y Sauvignon Blancs, la personalidad del Albariño ha conquistado a los bebedores de blanco del mundo. Es el vino blanco español más vendido en Estados Unidos y a mediados de los noventa se plantaron las primeras vides de Albariño en el valle de Santa Inés de California. La uva verde de Godello produce un zumo

espeso que parece de kiwi y resulta en vinos equilibrados, de color amarillo paja y aromas afrutados a manzana. Los críticos (ese grupo especial de gente que no bebe vinos sino que cata caldos) se han rendido a sus encantos. Jancis Robinson del Financial Times ha metido en su lista de los Vinos Blancos Mejor Valorados del Mundo a dos Godellos de la denominación de origen Valdeorras: As Sortes y O Soro, ambos del 2011. Pero mi vino blanco gallego favorito es el Ribeiro, quizá porque es la denominación con mas historia (lo mencionan los cronistas romanos en el siglo II a.C.), quizá porque usa las variedades de uva mas autóctonas (treixadura y torrontés) o quizá por ser más asequible que otros blancos. Producido en el oeste de Ourense en las

orillas (ribeiras) del Río Miño y sus afluentes, el Ribeiro es un vino de emperadores y reyes, el primer vino que llegó a América en los barcos de Colón y el vino gallego que entre el siglo XIV y el XVI se decantaba encantado en las mesas de la nobleza de Inglaterra, Italia y Flandes. El Ribeiro pasó después por plagas y épocas oscuras, fue olvidado, se abandonaron las viñas autóctonas antiguas y en su lugar tras la Guerra

Civil se plantó variedad Palomino (Alicante también le llamaban), que en Galicia produce cantidades de dudosa calidad. Es ese Ribeiro afrutado, popular y festivo que se vende en jarras y se bebe en tazas blancas de loza (fantástico con el pulpo á feira). Pero no es el bueno. El mejor, el autóctono, ha renacido con fuerza para recuperar su lugar en la historia y las mesas y manteles. Es un vino limpio y transparente, brillante a la luz, de tonos

amarillos pálidos y pajizos y con frescos reflejos verdes. Sutil, complejo, con aromas de frutas y flores, balsámico y especiado. De magnifico paladar. Fino y delicado. Sabroso y aromático. Persistente y armónico. O eso es lo que dicen los expertos. Yo lo que sé es que tiene un maravilloso trago largo y que es increíble con una merluza blanca con ajada.

Critics (that special group of people who do not drink wines but tastes them) have surrendered to its charms. Jancis Robinson from the Financial Times has

put on his list of the Year´s top whites two Godellos with D.O. Valdeorras: As Sortes and O Soro, both of 2011. But my favorite Galician white is the Ribeiro, maybe because it is the D.O. with more history (Roman chroniclers mention it in the second century BC), maybe because it uses the most indigenous varieties of grape (treixadura and torrontés) or maybe because it is more affordable than other whites. Produced in western Ourense in the banks (ribeiras) of the Minho River and its tributaries, the Ribeiro is a wine of emperors and kings, the first wine that went to America on the ships of Columbus and also the Galician wine that, between the XVI and XVI century was decanted and delighted at the tables of the nobility of England, Italy and Flanders. Later, the Ribeiro sufferered plagues and dark times, was forgotten, the ancient native vines were abandoned and in their place, the Palomino variety was planted (also called Alicante), which in Galicia produces quantities of dubious quality. Is that Ribeiro whichi is fruity, festive and popular, sold in jars and drunk in white china cups (great with octopus á feira style). But that is not the good one. The best, the native, has been strongly reborn to regain its place in history and in the tables and tablecloths. It is a clean, transparent wine, bright in the light, with pale and straw yellows and fresh green highlights. Subtle, complex, with aromas of fruits and flowers, balsamic and spicy. Magnificent in the palate. Fine and delicate. Tasty and aromatic. Persistent and harmonious. Or so the experts say. What I know is that it has a long and wonderful drink and it is incredible with a white hake with garlic sauce.

LA JOYA DE LA COCINA GALLEGA THE JEWEL OF THE GALICIAN CUISINE

— La relación de cosas que pueden ser protagonistas de una empanada no tiene más límites que la imaginación y, claro, el buen gusto. Recuerden que la empanada se come, por lo general, a mano... así que tengan cuidado con las que tienen interiores ‘peligrosos’, como la de chocos en su tinta: no se pongan perdidos, aunque se pongan como el Quico.

Ningún investigador serio se atrevería a afirmar tajantemente cuál es el origen geográfico de la empanada; como ocurre con tantos otros platos, la idea de reunir en una misma pieza comida, pan y vajilla es, con toda seguridad, tan antigua como el descubrimiento del horno. Dicho esto, y constatado que empanadas y cosas similares se hacen en muchos lugares del mundo, hay que asegurar, con la misma rotundidad, que la empanada ha alcanzado la categoría de joya gastronómica justo en Galicia. A los gallegos nos gustan las empanadas. Es más, sentimos curiosidad por saber cómo quedará un alimento nuevo metido en una empanada. De hecho, hemos empanado casi todo: hay empanadas de tierra, mar y aire, y para todos los gustos, con masas de pan, gramadas, hojaldradas, de harina de trigo, de harina de maíz, de harina de centeno... hasta de harina de castaña la he probado. Ciertamente, las clási-

cas no pasan de moda. Me resulta extraño, eso sí, oír llamar “de carne” a una empanada de raxo (lomo de cerdo); pero también sonaba fatal aquello del “rajo”, palabro ni gallego ni castellano, ejemplo del castrapo más irreductible. Dicho sea de paso, me parece una de las grandes empanadas “de tierra”. Eso no quiere decir que no me guste una empanada de conejo, ni, mucho menos, un pastelón de liebre... De las aéreas, de aves, me quedo con la de pombos y la de perdices; y de las marinas... con casi todas. Confieso mi debilidad especial por la de xoubas o parrochas (sardinillas), mi afición incondicional a la de bacalao con pasas, mi amor por las de zamburiñas o vieiras, mi inclinación a una buena empanada de croques (berberechos) en masa de maíz... y mi adoración por la empanada de lamprea, en su temporada (cómo los huéspedes de ‘La Casa de la Troya’ se hicieron con una empanada de lamprea ¡en septiembre! es algo que Pérez Lugín se

llevó con él al otro mundo; claro que tampoco andaba mal de imaginación quien escribió que la empanada que aparece en el Palacio de Xelmírez sea de lamprea: es... de piedra, y punto). La empanada es picoteo, pero también plato; se toma recién hecha, o templada, o fría si a mano viene (no hay romería sin empanadas). Admite cualquier buen vino, que debería adaptarse a su contenido. Y lo que no admite son comparaciones: quienes dicen que una pizza es una empanada sin tapa no saben de qué hablan; otra cosa es que la especialidad napolitana esté más extendida por el planeta que la gallega. Pero no hay color, ni por concepto ni por ingredientes. Una buena empanada, con un buen guiso dentro, es, no lo duden, una de las cumbres de la cocina histórica gallega. Deberíamos cuidarla más. Y, desde luego, promocionarla al máximo.

EATING AND DRINKING \ COMER Y BEBER

No serious researcher would dare to say categorically what is the geographical origin of the pie; as it happens with so many other dishes, the idea of bringing together, in one single piece, meal, bread and tableware, is surely as old as the discovery of the oven . That said, and confirmed that pies and similar things are made in many parts of the world, we must ensure, with the same clearness, that pie has reached the status of gastronomic jewel right in Galicia. Galician people like pies. What´s more, we feel curious about how a new food will result if we put it into a pie. In fact, we have put into a pie almos everything: there are land, sea and air pies, anf for all tastes, with doughs of bread, “gramadas”, with paff pastry, with wheat flour, corn flour, rye flour … I have tried it even with chestnut flour. Certainly, the classics are never out of style. I find it strange, though, to hear someone call "a meat pie" to a raxo pie (pork loin), but also sounded really bad to me that of “rajo” which is a strange word, neither Galician nor Spanish, an example of the worst and most irreducible “castrapo” (it is the pejorative name for the form of the Spanish language spoken in Galicia and which heavily uses Galician vocabulary and syntax). By the way, I think that is one of the great “land” pies. That does not mean that I do not like a rabbit pie, let alone a big hare pie ... From the air

ones, with birds, I prefer that of pombos and partridges, and among the sea ones, almost all of them. I confess my weakness for the one made with “xoubas” or “parrochas” (small sardines), my unconditional love for the one with cod with raisins, my love for that with scallops or razor clams, my inclination for a good pie with croques (cockles) in corn dough .. . and my adoration for the lamprey pie in its season (how the guests of 'The House of Troy' found a lamprey pie in September is something that Lugín Perez took with him to the next world; surely also had a very good imagination the person who wrote that the pie that appears in the Palace Xelmírez is a lamprey pie: is ... of stone, and period). Pie is for nibbling, but it is also a dish; you can eat it freshly baken, or warm, or cold if it comes at hand (there is no pilgrimage without pies). It admits any good wine, which should fit to its content. And it does not admit comparisons: those who say that a pizza is a pie without the cover do not know what they are saying; another thing is that the Neapolitan specialty is more widespread throughout the world than the Galician. But no comparisons, neither for the concept, neither for the ingredients. A good pie, with a good stew inside, is, do not doubt it, one of the summits of the historical Galician cuisine. Un país desconocido para el vino, pero con una larga historia de viticultura. ¡Este es un gran vino blanco para beber a diario, de la tierra de los vampiros! •Uvas: Pinot Grigio. •Nota de cata: Color amarillo claro, aromas de fruta de hueso como melocotones y albaricoques. En la boca, es fresco y ligeramente espumoso. Fácil de beber, es un vino agradable. •Maridaje: ¡Lo bebí con una Buena paella de marisco preparada por un auténtico Valenciano! •Valoración: Entre 5 y 6 euros.

Producido por la conocida bodega Marques de Griñón. Este vino resulta interesante ya que está hecho con variedades de uva que no son típicas de España. ¡Un vino afrutado, joven y sorprendentemente fresco! •Uvas: Syrah y Petit Verdot. •Nota de cata: Hermoso color púrpura oscuro. En la nariz, grosella negra con un toque de eucalipto fresco y lavanda. En la boca, taninos dulces y un ligero toque amargo al final. •Maridaje: Picoteo, empanadas, etc. •Valoración: Entre 9-10 euros en El Corte Inglés, Lavinia, Vinissimus, etc.

Inusual, interesante por la mezcla de uvas que normalmente no se suelen combinar. •Uvas: Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan y Cinsault. •Nota de cata: Rojo oscuro, en la nariz frutos rojos picantes y ciruelas. En la boca, buen equilibio entre los taninos y el grado de acidez. Al beberlo en el 2013, este vino ha evolucionado con una madurez deliciosa, aromas de higos, dátiles, especias y licor. •Maridaje: Cualquier carne roja o incluso una pieza de caza serían una buena combinación. •Valoración: Unos 20-22 euros.

La segunda edición del concurso de tapas organizado por Coca-Cola, “Destapa Galicia” llenará de creatividad más de 170 locales de hostelería de la comunidad. La tapa más creativa, la más autóctona, y la que mejor haya sabido emplear la Coca-Cola como ingrediente: estas serán las tres ganadoras de la nueva edición del certamen “Destapa Galicia”, un concurso gastronómico organizado y promovido por la multinacional que convoca, por segundo año consecutivo, a los locales de las 7 principales ciudades gallegas en busca de la inspiración que localice “la chispa de la vida” en los fogones. Y es que el certamen contará este año con más de 170 locales compitiendo por alzarse con el premio final en cualquiera de las tres categorías (Tapa Coca-Cola, Tapa Creativa, y Tapa de Aquí). Y contará, como no, con un jurado de excepción: todos los que no podemos resistirnos a probar los manjares que se nos ofrecen. Desde el pasado 29 de marzo y hasta el 14 de abril los locales ofrecen sus tapas a los clientes, a 2 € “a palo seco”, a 3 € si las regamos con Coca-Cola, y a 4 € si nuestra elección es un “Chispazo” (un combinado fresco de Martini con Coca-Cola). LLÉVAME AL HUERTO... URBANO TAKE ME TO THE VEGETABLE GARDEN ... THE URBAN VEGETABLE GARDEN — A caballo entre la supervivencia low cost y lo chic, los huertos urbanos, los bancos de tierra y las pequeñas huertas personales han florecido como tendencia eco del momento. Lo último es plantar tomates cherrie en tu tejado, ¿te apuntas?

Que Galicia ha sido siempre tierra de minifundios no es ningún secreto. Lo que ya no es tan sabido es que esos minifundios que nuestros abuelos y padres lucharon por abandonar se han convertido en el pequeño sueño neo-eco de una generación de treintañeros perdidos en la gran ciudad, que ven en las maravillas del campo un paraíso que poco tiene en común con la realidad. Para paliar esta carencia sin renunciar a las comodidades de la mediana-gran urbe nacieron los “huertos urbanos”, pequeñas porciones de tierra cultivable que normalmente se gestionan en comunidad y sirven, entre otras muchas cosas, para comer tomates que no sepan a corcho. La tendencia generalizada a recuperar lo verde tiene también una vertiente más social en los bancos de tierra –Coruña, por ejemplo, cuenta con unoque permiten a las personas con menos recursos gestionar un pequeño espacio de tierra que les dote de alimentos frescos a bajo coste. Un poco aquello de “la tierra para quien la

trabaja”, pero en versión moderna. La falta de terrenos cultivables en las grandes ciudades ha llevado a los amantes de lo eco a desarrollar una imaginación desbordante y a prueba de bombas. Algunos, los más afortunados, tal vez, han revitalizado pequeñas poblaciones no muy lejos de las grandes urbes trasladándose a ellas y desplazándose a diario a sus escuelas o trabajos para disfrutar, a su regreso, de su pequeño “pedacito de tierra”. Pero otros han tenido que echar mano de la reorganización del espacio. Hay empresas –cada día más- especializadas en la plantación de pequeñas plantas comestibles en interiores o balcones, y por eso cada vez es más común ver cómo albahaca, tomillo, tomates y perejil adornan las galerías de las que antes colgaban geranios. El clima húmedo de Galicia favorece estas plantaciones en interior, siempre que no apliquemos la calefacción a toda pastilla. Aunque lo último, lo verdaderamente moderno, es plantar sobre el cemen-

to. Algo que apredieron muy bien Noruegos y Alemanes, que llevan años apostando por los jardines verticales y las cubiertas verdes. En Galicia todavía estamos empezando con esta tendencia, pero empresas como Érbedo 100% gallega- han instalado ya algún que otro jardín en los tejados de edificios. Si optas por esta alternativa, ten en cuenta que aquí no todo vale: elegir la planta adecuada es fundamental, porque algunas estropean las bases y destrozan los tejados, y otras sencillamente no enraizan en estos sistemas. Sea como fuere, y después de la moda de comer ecológico, lo último es comer “cultivado en casa”. Quién le iba a decir a tu abuelo que estarías deseando aprender a plantar patatas.

It is no secret that Galicia has always been a land of small farms. What is not so well known is that these smallholdings that our grandparents and parents fought to leave have become the neo-echo small dream of a generation of thirtysomethings lost in the big city, who see in the wonders of the country a paradise that has little in common with reality. To alleviate this lack without giving up the comforts of the middle-big city, the "urban gardens" were born, small portions of arable land that is normally managed in community and are used, among other things, to eat tomatoes that does not taste like cork. The general tendency to recover the green has also a more social aspect in the land-banks - Coruña, for example, has one- that allow people with fewer resources to take care of a small piece of land that provides them with low cost fresh food. muestra una S invertida que nos remite a una mirada no convencional. El gallego José Castro trabajó en el equipo de diseño para la firma en 2006. Mente abierta, buen rollo, y un equipo de mentes dispuestas a la travesura. La ropa, lanza su mensaje; diciéndole a la gente, no soy como la mayoría. El universo Desigual insiste en el buen humor, el entusiasmo, la diversión, la fiesta, el espectáculo. Fruto de esta manera de ver la vida han nacido colaboraciones con el diseñador Christian Lacroix, con la firma Disney, e incluso con los herederos de Michael Jackson para poder plasmar su imagen en las prendas.

La colaboración que han firmado durante 5 años con el Cirque du Soleil es la unión de arte, espectáculo y diseño en dos mundos que nacen en el mismo año, 1984 y comparten la pasión por la creatividad y la innovación. Además de en las tiendas, en el circo hay un punto de venta donde puedes adquirir las prendas diseñadas para esta colección. This is 25” es el nombre de una campaña que se prolongará todo el año y de la que de momento conocemos pocos detalles, porque la firma ha preferido guardar el secreto e ir descubriendo poco a poco pequeños “regalos”. Regalos en forma de vídeo, como el que puede verse ya en su web y sus escaparates, en el que 25 personas –entre ellas Alba Galocha, mejor joven modelo en la pasada MBFW de Madrid- demuestran cómo es una marca fresca y joven que nació de un proyecto de moda masculina. 25 años después la firma cuenta con líneas de hombre y mujer, cómodas y personales. Pero no han querido olvidar los orígenes, y este 25 aniversario han puesto en marcha un proyecto innovador: un Shirt Bar que permite customizar las camisas sin perder el espíritu fresco de la firma. — En un momento en que el IVA cultural complica mucho la pervivencia del modelo, un proyecto excepcional ha logrado abrirse hueco en el panorama musical gallego. El Record Store Day ha conseguido hacer realidad un vinilo único –y mucho más- gracias al crowdfunding.

Pongámonos en antecedentes: Por un lado tenemos el Record Store Day, una fecha que se conmemora internacionalmente el tercer sábado de abril y que celebra la música a todos los niveles –industria, bandas, fans...-. Muchos sellos y artistas publican eps especiales en esa fecha, y se celebran conciertos por todo el mundo. Por otro lado tenemos un país en el que la industria musical vive en permanente crisis, y donde el talento no siempre encuentra soporte. Donde el IVA cultural (del 8 al 21% en 0,0)... y donde unos locos

inconscientes –Desconcierto Cultural- decidieron que, sí o sí, ellos querían celebrar el Record Store Day. Así que se pusieron manos a la obra: lanzaron una campaña de crowdfonding buscando recaudar 1800 €, para editar con ellos 300 vinilos únicos en el mundo, con 5 temas inéditos de 5 bandas indie, que se distribuirían en las tiendas colaboradoras como regalo a quienes comprasen algo ese día... y batieron todos los records, como corresponde al nombre del evento. En lugar de 1800 € recaudaron más de 3000 €,

así que en lugar de 300 Eps se editaron 555, en vinilo de color, con portada a cargo de serxio Huelin y grabación en los estudios Litium de Pontevedra. 555 Eps en vinillo con 5 temas de 5 bandas –Grampoder, Szentes, Os Amigos dos Músicos, Musel y Fagot y Popota- que se distribuirán en 8 tiendas de discos (sí, aún hay de eso amigos. Y esperemos que nos duren muchos años). Y como la cosa salió bien, decidieron culminarla como se merece. Así que las bandas tocarán en las tiendas –Nonis en Coruña, Peggy Records en Orense, Honky Tonk y Elepé en

Vigo, y Reixa, Miranda, Discoprecio y Fans en Santiago-, demostrando que efectivamente, se puede y se debe vencer a la adversidad, en forma de crisis, de subida de impuestos o de desgana general. En la forma que sea. El Record Store Day Galicia 2013 demuestra que socialmente el interés por la música como industria sigue más vivo que nunca, y que tal vez es el momento de replantearse un modelo, aunque no la esencia. Let´s update ourselves: On the one hand, we have the Record Store Day, a date which is internationally celebrated on the third Saturday of April and that celebrates music at all levels, - industry, bands, fans ... -. Many labels and artists publish special eps on that date, and there are concerts all over the world. On the other hand, we have a country in which the music industry lives in permanent crisis, and where talent does not always find support. Where the “cultural” VAT (from 8 to 21% in 0.0) ... and where some crazy unconscious –Desconcierto Cultural - decided that yes, come what may, they wanted to celebrate the Record Store Day. So they set to work: they launched a crowdfunding campaign seeking to raise 1,800 Euros, to edit 300 vinyls unique in the world, with 5 unpublished songs from 5 indie bands, which would be distributed in the collaborating stores as a gift for those who buy something that day ... and they broke all records, as it should be, because of the name of the event.

¿SOLIDARIDAD ES NOMBRE DE MUJER? SOLIDARITY IS A WOMEN´S NAME?

— A día de hoy las mujeres sostienen el entramado solidario mundial, cada día más necesario.

El 70% de los voluntarios en el mundo son mujeres. Un dato que casi nadie conoce y que sin embargo resulta revelador, por lo abrumador. Y es que en este dato hay dos lecturas muy diferentes y al mismo tiempo complementarias: por un lado, la que de las mujeres son –somos- más altruistas, más comprensivas, más sensibles al dolor ajeno, o sencillamente más previsoras (“mañana puedo ser yo”). Por el otro, la de que las mujeres tenemos “más tiempo” que “regalar”. Y esta es la lectura más peligrosa, porque implica, o bien que tenemos menor acceso a puestos de trabajo que impliquen responsabilidad y por tanto dedicación, o bien que seguimos creyendo que la “superwomanía” es una virtud y no un defecto. Sea como fuere, a día de hoy las mujeres sostienen el entramado solidario mundial, cada día más necesario, y por eso el Ayuntamiento de A Coruña decidió dedicar el pasado 8 de marzo a homenajear

precisamente a esas mujeres solidarias: 21 señoras para quitarse el sombrero que desfilaron por el Salón de Plenos de María Pita –otra señora de rompe y rasga- y cuyas vidas pudimos leer en un precioso pasquín que nos entregaron como invitados. Un hermoso homenaje a la mujer solidaria, a esa que da incluso cuando no tiene, en todas sus vertientes: desde colaboradoras con entidades sociales como bancos de alimentos o Cruz Roja hasta auténticas coachers encargadas de animar a quienes han pasado por el mal trago de una enfermedad dolorosa. Todas ellas luchadoras natas por la igualdad de derechos y oportunidades, y todas diferentes. Por cierto, que todas ellas, según la estadística, cobrarán de media un 20% menos que sus colegas masculinos de profesión, si es que su profesión está remunerada. Otro campo en el que la lucha debe continuar. Y ADEMÁS... ... Con la llegada de la primavera las donaciones

de ropa bajan peligrosamente. El tiempo cálido nos hace pensar que ya no es necesario cuidar de aquellos que duermen en las calles, pero desde entidades como Cáritas o la Cocina Económica advierten: las noches son frías incluso en verano en Galicia. Todas estas entidades aceptan donaciones de ropa durante todo el año, y no sólo en la época de invierno. Además hacen hincapié en la necesidad de prendas para niños y mujeres, menos habituales en las donaciones. ¿Sabías que Solidaridad Internacional, que cuenta con presencia en las cuatro provincias gallegas, cuenta con un servicio de catering de Comercio Justo? Con sabrosos platos elaborados con ingredientes respetuosos no sólo con el medioambiente, sino también con quienes los cultivan, sirven en cualquier evento tanto privado como público. La iniciativa ha calado bastante bien en la sociedad gallega y parece estar creciendo a pasos agigantados.

GALICIA TODAY \ GALICIA HOY

70% of volunteers in the world are women. A fact that almost nobody knows and, nevertheless, is revealing and overwhelming. And in this fact there are two very different readings but also complementary: on the one hand, that women are – we - more altruistic, more understanding, more sensitive to others' pain, or simply more foresighted ("Tomorrow, it can be me"). And this is the most dangerous interpretation because it implies either that we have less access to jobs that involve responsibility and, therefore, dedication, or that we continue believing that the "superwomany" is a virtue, not a defect. Anyway, today women hold the global solidarity network, increasingly necessary, so the city of A Coruña decided to dedicate the last 8 of March to honor these supportive women: 21 ladies to hat off who modeled down the Plenary Hall of Maria Pita -another resolute lady-and whose lives we could read in a beautiful flier that gave us as guests. A beautiful tribute to the supportive women, that who gives away even when she has not anything, in all the aspects: from collaborators with social organizations such as food banks or Red Cross to authentic coachers responsible for cheering up those

who are suffering the ordeal of a painful disease. All these fighters for for equal rights and opportunities, and all different.
