THANK YOU, ROTARY Thank you to the Marysville Rotary Education Foundation. On May 22, Rotarians handed out $173,500 in scholarships to graduating seniors from Marysville, Lakewood, and Granite Falls.

Nearly 60 students received scholarships ranging from $1,000 $10,00 with one student, Marysville's Skyleigh Morrison receiving a $20,000 award. The room at the Marysville Tulalip campus was filled with students and their parents and guardians, There were smiles, cheers, and tears. We are so incredibly proud to partner with the Marysville Rotary and cannot thank the Education Foundation enough for their support of our students.

M OUN TAIN VIEW ARTS AN D TECHN OLOGY HIGH SCHOOL HAS A N EW N AM E..." LEGACY HIGH SCHOOL" Following several months of student, staff, parent and community review, a committee of students and staff led by Trishka Dargis, recommended a new name for their school. "MVAT" will become "Legacy High School" effective July 1. The Board of Directors were presented with three options and approved the school's top choice, Legacy High School. Next steps include creating the school's identity, including the mascot.

2019 - 2020 CALENDAR Thanks to the collaborative efforts of our represented staff groups and the approval of the Board of Directors, the 2019 - 2020 school calendar is ready for publication. The calendar and bell schedule will be posted on all district and communication platforms on June 3.

School start and end times will remain the same as the current school year. The first day of school for the 2019 - 2020 school year is September 4 for grades 1 - 12.

KUDOS Trauma-informed Count y Grant : We are excited to participate in the Trauma-Informed Practices Consultation program grant through the Snohomish County Human Services, Behavioral Health & Veterans Division. The intent of this grant is to change the culture across the district and at the individual school buildings to ?live?Trauma-Informed Practices as part of our daily work. A big thank you to our district team; Rod Merrell, Shelley Boten, Nancy Smith, Andrea Wyatt, Greg Kanehen, and Deanna Bashour, for their help in writing the grant!

AVID Graduat es: Congratulations to this year's AVID graduates. Each has hopes and dreams for a bright future. The students were recognized at a special celebration with the Board of Directors on May 20.

DISTRICT COM M ITTEES The Marysville School District committees continue to meet with each preparing to hold their third meeting in the coming days.

Equit y and Diversit y: The Equity and Diversity committee members recently worked on defining their personal "why" for racial equity. The committee members will continue to build upon their learning and the development of a district equity policy and procedure.

Facilit y: The Facility Committee's meeting was held at Cascade Elementary school where members learned about the age and condition of the school and took a building tour.

Enrollment and Demographics: The committee recently received a report from a demographer who forecasts enrollment in the district.

Washingt on Alliance of Bet t er Schools (WABS) Showcase: WABS recently held their annual "Showcase of Success" where two of our Marysville School District teachers were showcased for their participation in the STEM Extern program; Debra Gat t i, Grove Element ary School, and Glenn Owen, Marysville Get chell High School. Congratulations!

The Fest ival of World Cult ures was a great success. Coordinated by staff from our Equity, Diversity, and Indigenous Education department, the event showcased cultures from around the world through dance, song, drumming, story telling and food.

GET CONNECTED!

Clean Count y Audit : The District received great news following our recent audit by the Snohomish County Auditors. The Auditors reported "this was a clean audit, the District did a really wonderful job?.

High School Mat h Adopt ion: Recommended adoption of the new math materials will go to the Board of Directors on June 3. Once adopted, materials will be ordered for launch at the start of the 2019 2020 school year, with teacher professional development slated for this coming August.

Sor opt im ist , Kiw an is, M ason s ? Each of these service organizations also support our students financially with scholarships and civic and life-learning opportunities.

Th e Tu lalip Tr ibes ? The Tribes have been a long supporter of our students and education. They provide financial grants to support our schools and programs, help fund sports when students go to state, provide after-school activities and youth programs where all are welcome including the Tulalip Boys and Girls Club.

Th e Cit y of M ar ysville ? We are lucky to have a mayor and city staff who are so supportive of our mission and vision for our schools. This past week we were fortunate to have the City step forward and continue to support our School Resource Officer program for the 2019-2020 school year. Their support is signified by their financial commitment as well as their collaborative spirit.

M ar ysville Food Ban k ? The food bank has helped our students and families in need by providing the backpack food program and supporting our families and community members in need in general. The food bank is run largely by dedicated volunteers working to make a difference in people?s lives.

YM CA ? Another great partner, the YMCA helps to create a thriving community through the My Achievers Program, activities for youth and adults, and support of families in general through Y scholarships and programs.

Cit y of M ar ysville Par k s, Cu lt u r e an d Recr eat ion ? Also helping to create a thriving community, the City?s Parks, Culture, and Recreation Department offers many programs and family activities year 'round. They offer discounts and scholarships to help struggling students and families so that all may participate in the varied events and activities.

PTSAs ? Our school PTSAs and the PTSA Council go above and beyond in support of our students, staff, and schools.

They help to fund new equipment, activities for students and families, classroom supplies and materials, outdoor camp donations, field trips and much more.

Goodw ill ? The Goodwill is consistently providing opportunities for learning through the Goodwill Aerospace Program, various computer program training, and jobs for youth.

Oper at ion Sch ool Bell an d Kloz f or Kidz ? These organizations support our students and families in ways that we often cannot. Providing clothes, shoes, and other items makes a huge difference in a child's life.

M ar ysville Toget h er Coalit ion ? The Marysville Together Coalition has been instrumental in supporting the youth and families in our Marysville and Tulalip community by providing training for parents and community members on drug and alcohol prevention among teens, strengthening family relationships, recognizing other risky behaviors among our youth and much more.

Fam ilies ? As a public school district, our lifeblood is our students and their families. We thank our parents and guardians for their support of their child(ren) and the school district. We appreciate your advocacy for your child, and hearing from you when we get it just right, or wrong. Thank you for being a part of the Marysville School District family of learners.

Cit izen s ? We are fortunate to have a caring community of citizens who support our students in various way through private donations to pay for meal debt, clothes, shoes, graduation and more.

St af f ? Many of our staff help students and families in so many ways through providing emotional support, care and concern, resources, and in some cases personal donations to help our students. Thank you.
