Why Grass Fed Beef Should Be Your Diet of Choice It is no secret that Americans eat a lot of beef. The average person consumes nearly 100 pounds of beef per year! Grass-fed beef is a great choice because it has been shown to have higher levels of Omega 3s and lower levels of saturated fats than conventionally raised cattle. The only downside? Grass-fed cows take longer to grow to mean they produce fewer pounds on average but this also means that the meat is more expensive. So if you’re on a budget, it may be best to stick with conventional beef which has been found to have levels of Omega-three fatty acids similar to grass-fed beef and less total fat than grain fed beef.
