THANKS FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY! WE HOPE YOU’VE HAD A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE LIVING WITH US. Please use this pamphlet as a guide to help you properly clean and vacate your apartment.

It is our hope that this booklet will help you leave your apartment in good condition. At the suggestion of residents, we have made this checklist specific and detailed. If you have further questions about the move-out procedure after reviewing this information, please contact your community assistant (CA) or The Rixey Management team.

Please be reminded that all residents are required to move-out at the end of their lease, unless you are a graduate student taking summer classes. All undergraduate taking summer , will need to reside on main campus as space is limited at The Rixey for the summer. The end of your lease is Monday, May 15, 2022.

MOVE-OUT DATE You must vacate your apartment on or before the last day of your lease termination date.

If you have roommate(s) who will be moving out after you, the expectations listed below do not change.

All your personal belongings should be removed and all areas should be

thoroughly cleaned and free of debris at the time of inspection. We expect you to work with your roommates to accomplish this task.

All residents are required to leave their units in a clean and orderly condition and follow the proper move-out procedures. Failure to follow the move-out procedures will result in fines or penalties as outlined below. Using the cleaning guide will help get your apartment ready for the move-out inspection and minimize the possibility of charges for additional cleaning.

Keys All keys, including mailbox, unit and garage fobs, must be returned by 12 noon on the last day of your lease or on your requested termination date. Residents who fail to return their keys on time will be charged for a lock change and missing keys. When you are ready to leave, put your unit key, mail box key, garage fob and parking permit—if you have paid parking—in the yellow Express Move-out envelope (provided to you at the front desk) and put the envelope in the drop box of the lobby of the first floor.

Keep in mind: •

All key fobs must be turned in at the end of your lease. If fob and keys are turned in late you may be charged for extra days rent.

If you are leaving before the end of your lease, turn your fobs in before you leave. Do not rely on others to turn in your fob.

Abandoned Property All items left on the premises at the time of vacating will be disposed of by The Rixey (including bikes and cars). Please take extra care to remove all of your personal items.

Cleaning Your Apartment The apartment should be thoroughly cleaned before you leave. If your apartment does not meet the standards of The Rixey, a charge for necessary cleaning will be assessed. Please use the following checklist to help insure you have completed all necessary cleaning tasks.

Estimated Charges For Cleaning, Replacement, and Damage After you move out of your apartment, it will be inspected by our staff for damages and cleanliness. If The Rixey staff determines you will need to be charged, a bill will be sent to your account. The items listed on the page 5 are for reference only and are not meant to be a complete or final list of possible charges.

This list represents the most common items and their associated cost for repair and/or replacement due to excessive wear or damage. Items not listed will be charged at actual materials plus labor. Prices are subject to change due to change in labor costs, product availability, and/or market conditions.

Clean with mild dish soap or soap specifically made for use on wood. Shelf paper must be removed and all adhesive residue cleaned.

Freezer is frost free; no defrosting necessary. Wash all walls, shelves, drawers, door parts including gasket and handle. Do not unplug the refrigerator; leave on lowest setting (1).

Use warm water with cleaners. Since this is usually a time-consuming task, we recommend cleaning this item in advance, then it will not be such a big job when you are doing your final cleaning.

Use this product according to directions on label. Rinse well with warm water (rinse more than once). If there is still heavy, baked on food, clean oven again. Clean in advance of check-out.

Abrasive pads and scouring powder can scratch the stainless-steel surface and leave a permanent scar on the surface.

Heavy grease build-up around cooking areas needs to be removed. Clean above and below cabinet areas.

Sweep, rinse and wash the floor. Do not wax Flush with cold tap water while running disposal.

Heavy grease buildup around range hood needs to be removed

Clean and/or remove all soap scum, dirt, hard water deposits, and stick-on decals.
