Marymount’s Early Childhood Center has developed its curriculum from the Early Learning and Development Standards from Washington State (U.S.). These standards reflect the latest research on early childhood development with input from leading experts, academics, teachers and parents. The program emphasizes the importance of the whole child, addressing each student’s physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs. Marymount’s Early Childhood Program focuses on developing our young students’ ability to think critically and analytically, develop their gross motor skills and physical fitness, acquire proficiency in language and literacy, and develop social and emotional skills. Students are also encouraged to develop reflectiveness so they may learn from their experiences.

Early Childhood 1 Marymount’s Early Childhood 1 Program provides students with a strong educational foundation while continuing to engage them through structured and supported play activities. Children build an understanding of the world in addition to social, emotional and language development.

Nap time is encouraged after lunch. The Early Childhood Center has a designated room for napping, complete with cots, dimmed lights and quiet music. If children prefer, they may participate in quiet activities.
Early Childhood 2 English-language acquisition and inquiry-based play for social and emotional development Marymount’s new EC Program encourages and supports children to grow to their full potential through inquiry-based play, and the expert guidance of highly-trained, English mother-tongue teachers. The program’s activities and enrichment classes develop children’s natural curiosity, independence, self-confidence and social skills through play and at the same time build a foundation of academic readiness for entry into Early Childhood.
Quality nutrition helps young bodies grow and develop and Marymount offers nutritionist-approved morning and afternoon snacks as well as a healthy and balanced lunch. Staff and teachers supervise these mealtimes and monitor the children’s eating habits and preferences.

Marymount’s Early Childhood 2 Program continues to build upon the skills acquired in EC1 as the work becomes more structured. Students engage in different activities to explore, investigate, communicate and gain the long-term benefits for future academic success.
EC2 children have access to a wide range of extracurricular activities including Soccer, Swimming, Arts and Crafts, Music and Dance. Activities run from 3:30pm to 4:30pm and a late bus is also available to take students home.
