The Maryland Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to present our 2024-2025 concert season, offering a captivating journey through classical masterpieces, contemporary wonders, and special celebrations.

This season holds particular significance as we celebrate the remarkable 25-year journey of our Music Director and Conductor, Elizabeth Schulze. Her unwavering dedication and artistic vision have shaped a quarter-century of musical excellence, leaving an indelible mark on the very soul of our orchestra. Join us in honoring this milestone and recognizing the profound impact Elizabeth has had on our musical family.

We invite you to embark on an exploration of emotions and virtuosity, featuring incredibly talented guests who will captivate and inspire. You’ll experience iconic works by Florence Price, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and more. Don’t miss the grandeur of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 featuring Ode to Joy, a timeless masterpiece that holds a special place in the hearts of classical music enthusiasts. In April, our musical journey takes an adventurous turn as we present the Dreamworks’ film How to Train Your Dragon with the musical score performed live on stage. There truly is something for everyone this concert season!

The classical series continues in November as the orchestra unveils the lush romantic landscapes of Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 3 in F Major, Op. 90, and Antonín Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104. Elizabeth Schulze weaves the ensemble through Brahms’ masterful orchestration, where each note narrates a tale of passion and introspection, painting a vivid musical portrait.

Cellist Benett Tsai takes center stage in Dvořák’s Cello Concerto. Tsai’s artistry unfolds with sweeping melodies and poignant moments, showcasing skillful mastery and deep musical expression. Allow the evocative sounds of Brahms and the soul-stirring resonance of Dvořák, in collaboration with Benett Tsai, to transport you into a world of romance and emotion. Pianist Chaeyoung Park, a brilliant up and coming artist, takes center stage in Camille Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor. The concerto, a masterpiece of expression and technical prowess, highlights Park’s artistry as she navigates the intricate tapestry of Saint-Saëns’ composition. The evening concludes with Florence Price’s soul-stirring Symphony No. 3 in C minor, a powerful and emotive piece honoring the richness of African-American musical heritage.

The Maryland Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to be joined by the Baltimore Choral Arts Society under the artistic direction of Anthony Blake Clark for an inspiring performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9.
