CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MARYLAND HOLSTEIN ASSOCIATION BREEDERS!

RULES FOR JUNIOR ALL-MARYLAND HOLSTEIN AWARDS

Eligibility and Ownership:

1. Junior All-MD winners will be automatically calculated by the All-MD committee based on placings throughout the year. There is no need to submit an application.

2. Only animals registered at Holstein Association USA, Inc. (Brattleboro, VT) are eligible.

3. The exhibitor must be a member in good standing of the MD Holstein Assoc.

4. Junior members will be considered MD Holstein members if they have paid their National Junior Membership (A one-time fee). If an animals owner is not a junior member, the next highest animal will be named in their place.

5. Animals must be housed in MD on permanent basis.

6. Animals must be owned by the Junior member before July 1st

7. Title of all animals competing must be in accordance with the rules and regulations of the various shows.

8. Each animal must have registration papers checked and approved for each show by an official appointed by that show chairman.

9. Ties will be broken in the following order:

A. Highest placing at the MD State Fair 4-H Show,

B. Highest placing at Spring Holstein Show,

C. Highest placing at District Show

D. Ties at this point will be broken by the All-MD Committee

10. For a cow to be eligible for any Junior All-MD award, she must have been shown at least once in milking form.

11. National Jr. members, above 4-H age, may use points acquired at the open show at MD State Fair as they stand against all MD cattle in class (junior member must exhibit the entry). Points will be awarded junior members of Holstein USA, above 4-H age, at the spring Holstein show and district shows, as they stand in class against all other junior members.

12. In the case of question, the Board of Directors of the MD Holstein Assoc. will determine eligibility regarding ownership and/or qualifications.

The Awards: Certificates will be given to Junior All-MD and Reserve Junior All-MD owners. As much publicity as possible will be given the award winners.

Point system used for Junior All-Maryland Awards:

Various Spring 4-H/FFA Shows (All Breeds, Garrett, Eastern Shore, etc)

A. No points will be awarded at Spring Holstein Show or Spring 4-H/FFA shows for the following class: Spring Calf.

B. Milking Fall Yearling must be shown at the Maryland State Fair 4-H/FFA Show.

C. At Maryland State Fair, Red & White animals shown in the 4-H/FFA Show will be awarded half points.

6. Animals owned in partnership, having owners living in MD and other states, must be housed in MD on permanent basis.

7. Title of all animals competing must be in accordance with the rules and regulations of the various shows.

Point system used for All-Maryland Awards:

 Spring Holstein Show and Maryland State Fair (B&W Show)

 Bonus points for Spring Holstein Show and Maryland State Fair Jr., Int. & Sr. Champion — 10 points

A. MD State Fair: Maryland animals to be awarded points as they stand against Maryland cattle only.

B. No points will be awarded at Spring Holstein Show for the following class: Spring Calf.

C. Milking Fall Yearling must be shown at the Maryland State Fair.

D. If a Long-Time Production cow does not yet qualify at the Spring Show, she can be exhibited at the State Fair in the Long-Time Production class with prior points transferred to the Long-Time Production class.

E. In the MD Futurity, Jr. 3-Yr-Old and Sr. 3-Yr-Old cows will be divided for All-MD points.

F. No points will be awarded to cattle shown in the Red & White show at Maryland State Fair.
