from the Artistic Director 15 years! To reflect on the past 15 years brings quite a flood of emotions, images, and stories. From October 1997 to June of 1998 we managed an all volunteer army to clean, paint, build, and ready the old McCrory’s building to become a theatre space and arts center. In 2001, we opened at this location. So, when you see the signs around this block that say “Theatre District”- that is because of your support! The original inception of this organization was to serve different needs to different communities of audience by energizing them to the art of theatre. On any given week we are teaching young and adult students with The Ensemble School, providing a “first time” on stage to elementary school kids in our after school program, reaching the college community by making specific programming choices that serve their needs, and bringing new, vibrant pieces to our community. Just since April we have seen an original adaptation of a classic, we’ve had a broad musical comedy, a piece written from the voices of women in our community, an adaptation of a classic children’s novel, a late night bizzaro comedy, and a piece written specifically for our students to explore Robin Hood on stage! All original! So, whether it’s your first time at the MET, or you can remember sitting next door watching one of our first productions; please enjoy yourselves and help spread the word! Tad Janes
