Summer School will begin on Friday, June 12, 2026, and will end on Friday, July 17, 2026 There will be no school on Friday, June 19 (Juneteenth), and Friday, July 3 (Independence Day) due to the observed holidays All summer classes for grades K–12 will be held on the GRADE SCHOOL CAMPUS this year due to campus improvements on the high school campus.

DROP-OFF & PICK-UP (GRADES K–12)

Driveway supervision will be available exclusively at Halekula Way. The gate will be open for drop-off from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., and for regular after-school pick-up for grades K–8 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. High school students can be picked up at the Dole Street driveway when school ends at 12:45 p.m.

Summer Fun pick-up starts at 3:00 p.m. at Halekula Way. Pick up before that time is on the Dole Street driveway. Parents will need to enter the Extended Learning Office to request the child be sent to the driveway for pickup.

There will not be any driveway supervision on Dole Street driveway. Be mindful as LEFT turns are always ILLEGAL on Alexander Street.

ATTENDANCE POLICIES

Regular and punctual attendance is mandatory. If a student is going to be absent from Summer School, a parent or guardian must notify the Office of Extended Learning before 7:30 a.m. on the day of the absence. You can reach the Extended Learning Office at (808) 952-7340 or summer@maryknollschool.org.

When the student returns to school, please submit a written explanation signed by a parent and/or a doctor to the Extended Learning Office. Failure to provide documentation will result in the absence being classified as unexcused, and teachers will not be obligated to provide make-up work or tests.

STUDENT SAFETY

No supervision will be available for students before 7:15 a.m. If you drop off your child before that time, please have them wait in front of their first class. All students are expected to be picked up immediately after their last scheduled class.

Parents of kindergarten students should pick them up at 11:45 a.m., while students in grades 1-8 can be picked up in the driveway starting at 12:15 p.m. Loitering on campus is not allowed, and Maryknoll School will not be responsible for children who are unattended before or after their scheduled classes. All students who remain on campus must be enrolled in an after-summer school program.

DRESS CODE STANDARDS

Summer School has informal dress standards designed to create a respectful learning environment. Clothing should not feature vulgar language or images. The following attire is prohibited:

• Torn, faded, or excessively short shorts

• Midriff-baring tops

• Spaghetti straps and strapless shirts

• Shirts with holes or cuts

Slippers and crocs in good condition are allowed, but students enrolled in sports and recreation classes must wear athletic shoes. Students should present themselves neatly and cleanly. If a student wears inappropriate attire, they will be sent home immediately.

CONDUCT POLICIES

Students are expected to follow the established standards of conduct that emphasize respect for teachers, fellow students, and school property. Those who do not demonstrate appropriate behavior should be prepared for disciplinary actions, which may include suspension or expulsion.

GRADE REPORTS

Final grades (academic classes only) for all students will be distributed to students on the last day of summer session, July 17, 2026. Non-Maryknoll students are responsible to forward summer school grade reports to their home schools. Students absent for report distribution will need to pick them up at the Extended Learning Office, no later than Friday, July 24, 2026. There will be NO MAILING of grade reports.

CLASS SUPPLIES

Please be aware that some classes may require additional school supplies. Supply lists will be sent home during the first week of classes. For students registering for academic classes, please ensure your child brings basic supplies to class, including pencils, pens, paper, and a pocket folder.

REGISTRATION

Summer School registration is available online only. When registering, please enroll your student in the grade level they will be entering for the 2026–2027 school year. Before you begin registration, we recommend reviewing the Summer School Catalog to help you plan and make your selections in advance

Reviewing the catalog ahead of time will make the registration process faster and easier.

OUT-OF-STATE/OUT-OF-COUNTRY

Out-of-state and country students must provide a current TB clearance (signed by a U.S. doctor), prior to the first day of Summer School. Digital copies can be sent to summer@maryknollschool.org. Students will NOT be admitted to summer school without proper medical clearance.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE

The deadline to register for the Maryknoll Summer Program is April 20, 2026. We recommend registering early, as classes have limited availability and fill up quickly. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Maryknoll School reserves the right to cancel a course if there are not enough enrollments.

Confirmation of your child's class schedule will be emailed by May 19, 2026. Registration submitted after April 21, 2026, will incur a late fee of $75.00 per student and will be accepted on a space-available basis only. Students who register after the deadline, as well as those who request changes to their schedule, will receive their class schedule as soon as class rosters are confirmed.

CHANGES IN REGISTRATION

Any changes to a student's registration after April 20, 2026, will result in a $50.00 administration fee. This fee will be waived only if the change is initiated by Maryknoll School or its faculty and staff, with final approval from the Director of Extended Learning.

WITHDRAW AND REFUND POLICY

For students who withdraw on or before Monday, April 20, 2026, 50% of the program fees for each program will not be refunded. After April 20, 2026, no refunds for tuition or program fees will be provided for withdrawals. Additionally, there are no refunds for any missed classes.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Prospective international students must possess an independent user level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English to register for Summer School. Effective communication is essential, and any student found to be unable to communicate proficiently will be removed from the program without a refund.

Morning snacks are provided by Sodexo; all snacks are dropped at students classroom before morning break so they can enjoy a light snack before returning to their classroom. The menu will be included in your summer school registration packet sent via email.

LUNCH MEAL

Grade: Kindergarten – 8th

Cost: $200.00

Lunches are provided by Sodexo; all lunches are dropped at students after school care group room before lunch break so they can enjoy a meal before starting the Summer Fun program. Kindergarten student lunches will be dropped at their classroom before lunch break which is included in their 4-hour program. The menu will be included in your summer school registration packet sent via email.

The program will incorporate experiences in individual and group activities to develop skills in listening, speaking, reading, and math readiness, and independent work. These activities will help the children improve their social skills, creativity, and physical development. The students will begin handwriting of single phonograms and numbers (1–10), using proper grip. By incorporating a variety of activities and subjects, the program will help the children build a solid foundation for future learning.

This special four-hour summer course for grades 1–4, offers students an integrated approach to academic advancement and enrichment. The curriculum encompasses reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and mathematics, delivered through individual, small-group, and whole-class activities designed to foster communication and collaboration. Beyond foundational academics, the program includes enrichment opportunities in physical education, ceramic art, Hawaiian culture, and Mandarin (for immersion students who enroll), ensuring a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.

Additionally, grammar and vocabulary will be integrated into the curriculum to strengthen language skills. • The program provides an immersive learning environment; teachers and students are encouraged to communicate in Mandarin at least 80% of the time.

Join our Summer Karate Class with Sensei Mari from the International Karate Foundation, designed for students in grades 1 through 6! This program offers 45-minute sessions every Thursday and Friday, providing a fun and supportive introduction to karate.

Students will learn fundamental techniques like stances, strikes, and basic kata, while also developing essential life skills such as listening, concentration, coordination, and self-discipline. Training will focus on the Kotaka-ha Shito-Ryu style, known for its balanced approach.

Please note, if your child is not enrolled in the Summer Fun Program, an additional supervision fee will apply for any time before or after their piano lesson.

Hula is described as a narrative dance where gestures reflect words in mele (song). This course includes an introductory to basic movements, Hawaiian songs for children, and cultural immersion through fun activities and storytelling.

Our Summer Fun Program offers an action-packed schedule filled with fun and engaging activities to keep children entertained and inspired. Each day, kids will have the opportunity to participate in a diverse array of exciting options, including arts and crafts, sports, and reading. We also host scheduled movie screenings that promise to delight children of all ages. In addition to our daily activities, we have thrilling field trips lined up throughout the summer, taking children to exciting destinations where they can explore, learn, and create lasting memories.

To keep the energy high and the excitement fresh, we will also organize on-site events like relays, scavenger hunts, and themed days. Our program is thoughtfully designed to deliver a fun-filled and enriching experience while ensuring that children are safe and supervised.
