BACKGROUND My passion for design originated in my early years, influenced by observing my mother’s work in the same field. As I matured, my fascination with redesigning spaces, coupled with accompanying my mother on various projects, propelled me into the study and practice of interior design. My educational journey in this field aligns seamlessly with my passion for configuring spaces and seeking out impactful accents.

Design Strategy

CONTEXT GRID SYSTEM

Using the buildings existing column grids, I used a criss-cross pattern to divide up the space. These helped define the open space into smaller square footage. With color coding diagrams, I began to break up the space by program. These diagrams helped create the final floor plan. The plan is also inspired by fractal patterns, repeating patterns in nature that recur at different scales.

Fracatals Fracatals are a curve or geometric figure, each part of which has the same statistical character as the whole. Fractals have similar patterns that recur at progressively smaller scales. This can be seen in tree branch patterns, snowflakes, plant leaves and animal skin patterns.

THE SPINE | MODELS

C O N C E P T PA R T I Spinal Diagram By using the human spine as inspiration, the curves, cage structure and joint movement was taken into consideration.

The central space of the exibit is the curve of the spine, as the ‘cage’ branches off from the center to create the exhibit for artists to use.

NATURE/SCIENCE LAB The science lab contains four work stations with full equpiment needed for the user. There are controlled air and cooling controls as well as specifric glass containors for studying any animal or natrual being needed.

The two plant speicies in the reception space were specifically chosen for low maintance and easy growth. The Zanzibar Gem (ZZ) Plant is a low maintance plant that only requires watering as low as once per month. The vines are ivy plants that need medium sunlight, which is why they are placed close to the full heighted window that gets plenty of sun.

A projector is placed before the mezzanine level and directed at the full heighted wall adjacent to reception. This is for any ongoing news or fun animations created by the in residency curators.

The lecture hall is adjacent to reception. This space is for any public speakers to come in and reserve the space. It is invited for anyone and will be able to speak to the public at any time during the week.

concept + objectives Supporting environments of the neurodiverse include providing a securing effect in the physical environment.

Our goal was to bring aspects of the home into public space using a more inclusive and domestic approach, using tools such as refuge and prospect. Refuge and prospect include spaces of withdrawal where the user feels protected overhead and behind. This is accomplished through color, materiality, and lighting.

public restroom research Public restrooms can often feel like a very sterile and vulnerable space. The goal of this restroom is to promote domesticity, inspired by architect Joel Sanders “Stalled!” restroom.

We removed the two existing showers in the back stall and converted it into an ADA restroom for the adjacent ADA bedroom.

The stall doors will be almost full height, with a slight gap at the top, to avoid code issues.

As requested by students, the doors were changed into rounded oval corners to feel more comfortable and calming. To break up the sinks, storage is added in between for personal belongings including locks.

shared dorm bedroom design + research A traditional dorm bedroom can feel uncomfortable, vulnerable and open when rooming with a new person. Our solution is to create a custom built-in “bunk-bed” inspired bed. This bed will have access to a lower bed on the right side and the higher bed on the left side. Each bed has a solid wood piece on one side and a sliding interchangeable panel on the other to adjust to privacy needs. The materiality is kept light and simple to allow students to customize to their desire. The lighting consists of task, cove and upper lights when extra light is needed.

concept + objectives The border competion was a collaborative project with Jefferson architecture students.

The goal was to create an architectural project at an intersection or ‘border’ between 2-3 countries. The concept was to solve a problembetween the selected countries where they would be able to converge and share culture and grow as a community. This project was submitted for ARK competition among many other designers across the world.

Sustainable Office

Spring 2021 Programs Used: Autodesk Revit, Enscape, Adobe Photoshop, Indesign

concept + objectives This office space was created as a HeadQuarters for Delaware River Watershed Organizations in the Navy Yard in South Philadelphia. The objective for the space was to create a sustainable enviroment. The watershed organizations wanted an office to reflect the importance of watersheds through biophilic elements.

Throughout the space the use of sustainability is seen through materials, energy sources, and structures.

The concept is inspired by glacier erosion. It reflects the idea of a large entity gliding through the space picking up pieces along the way and dropping them else where. Glaciar erosion causes the bottom layer to deform & flow, eroding the underlying rock by abrasion and plucking. Glacial meltwater seeps into cracks of the underlying rock, the water freezes and pushes pieces of rock outward. This process forms valleys, and crevasses as it moves over large bumps The office space abstracts the idea of a large glaciar moving through the center picking up and deforming object as it pushes through.

05 Noir Summit Brew Commercial New Hope, PA

concept + objectives The objective of this retail project was to create a new unique retail experience in the town of New Hope, Pennsylvania considering it’s demographics and trends. The goals were to enagage the customers, comply to new COVID guidelines and impliment technology.

The concept was to replicate the rhythmic patterns of the coffee farm grounds. Coffee growing is a circulutive process,taking years to grow.

The concept is about present but not visible, with reveals throughout the space, as if you were in the mountainous regions. The coffee bean seed starts out as a red berry seed, not much flavor, & bitter. As you move through the space toward the top level, you feel the floral richness of the space, the end product of the coffee bean.

Senior Child Mentor Center

Collaboration with : Abigial Stubb Spring 2020 Programs Used: Autodesk Revit, Rhino Adobe Photoshop, Indesign

concept + objectives The objective of this project was to create a center for two generations to collaborate, learn and grow. The design was focused on ADA guidelines and universal principles to provide a safe space for the seniors and children. It also aimed for sustainability, low budget, and acoustical properties.

Our concept was focused on fine motor skills in the hand. Fine motor skills is the coordination of small muscle movements in the hands and fingers. Inrigued by the componets that make up a hand, we began to focus on the muscle. As muscles age, they begin to shrink and lose mass. This concpet tracks the expansion and contraction as muscles move.

This model is based on seaweed and kelp on the bottom of the o c e a n f l o o r. I t r e f l e c t s this with curvilnear wavy objects flowing GRANITE from the floor to ceiling. Since seaweed is free flowing independentally and usually in o p e n w a t e r, m y m o d e l has less interaction except for one lookout.

The materials chosen were natural realting to the earth.
