Students, Dante Geddes-Mcglown, a Syracuse Central Tech graduate, and Andrew Giannettino, a Auburn High School graduate, work to focus and frame a studio camera to be used in student-crew news community production.

As disciplines in new media rapidly expand and evolve, Cayuga Community College’s School of Media and the Arts (SOMA) and Telcom Department continue to develop new, focused areas of study to provide students expertise in Public Relations and Social Media Communications to prepare them to compete for careers in new media or expand transfer opportunities. The Social Media Communications concentration is available in Cayuga’s Media Communications Associate of Science (AS) and the Media Production Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree programs. A rigorous curriculum including media writing, Adobe’s Photoshop software and social media analytics is required in both CONTINUED NEXT PAGE

CAYUGA OFFERS NEW A.S. DEGREE:

Media Communications Cayuga Community College continues to expand its curriculum to keep ahead of the rapidly changing world of Media. The college’s Telcom Department is now offering an associate’s degree in Media Communications. This program is for students who wish to transfer to four-year programs and pursue careers in Media, Communications, and related fields such as Public Relations, Journalism, Social Media, Media Management, and Strategic Communications.
