“The clean, white place mat, plate, bread plate, cloth napkin, and utensils represent the wish that the fallen men and women of the armed forces could be present at this occasion. The color symbolizes the purity of their intentions to respond to their country’s call to arms.”

Retired Cayuga English professor Ronald Snead passed away on November 5. Ron retired from fulltime service a while ago but continued to work as an Adjunct until last spring. A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Society at 607 North Seward Street, Auburn, NY on Saturday, November 18th at 1:00 PM. At CCC’s Auburn campus last week, 300 military members were honored in a display that was displayed in the main hallway. The memorial, which is known as The Fallen Stars Memorial, gave tribute to the men and women who were killed in the line of battle in Iran and Afghanistan. The display, which featured a star for each person, along with their rank, hometown, and what branch in which they served. Along with the display, there were flags which represented each division in the armed forces. Also, flags representing 9/11 were close-by.
The smell of chili filled the main hallway last Wednesday, where the Veteran’s Club held their second annual Chili Cook-off .here were many happy faces, with ranting and raving about how good each recipe of chili smelled. The fee to participate, ($5), was donated to a local charity. The $5 fee got you a free bottle of water, the ability to try all of the chili concoctions, and a vote for who had the best chili. Representatives of the club, President Jennifer Casella, Secretary Julia DiMatteo, Treasurer Robin Moore, and Cori Moore were all playing large roles in the cook-off, overseeing, and making sure all were having a good time. There were quite a few contenders in the cook-off contest and each professor at the College was able to cast a vote. The Veterans Chili Cook-off is a new FIND OUT THE WINNER ON BACK PAGE
