PROGRAMMATIC CONCEPT
How can we take a more humanstic approach to design — one which individually supports employees and recognizes their unique needs and contributions?
DESIGN CONCEPT
Equalizing Opposites — Boston Harbor is a combination of natural and man-made land — it is a system of opposite elements working together towards a single goal without losing their unique features.
DESCRIPTION
NEXT aims to develop an environment which celebrates diversity and empowers individuals to reach their full potential and improve their wellbeing.
NEXT is a robotics company, but that does not mean the employees should be required to operate as machinery themselves. Human diversity results in innovation and should be supported.

Following the path of the desert sun
DESCRIPTION
The ability to integrate the Palm Springs landscape was a priority in this project. The central double-sided fireplace serves both the indoor living area and the glass-enclosed courtyard. utilized warm muted tones throughout the house, which were inspired by a desert sunrise and sunset. The porch, front protruding wall, raised entrance ceiling, and fireplace are formed of Rammed Earth to create a continious vein of the surrounding desert running through the heart of the home.
GOALS
Provide a range of work environments with varying levels of privacy from which employees can choose
Provide structure where it is needed for support
Celebrate the beauty of opposities working together in a unified system

Personification of Dawn
DESCRIPTION
My initial designs for this wearable piece were inspired by 1930’s fashion and by the association of air with octahedrons which form the basis of this project. I created the base by soldering wire into a frame, then draping and sewing fabric to it. Finally, the platonic solids, which folded from paper, were sewn in place. wanted to create a subtle transition from organic to geometric, from stark white to full color. I taught myself to smock for this project in order to mimic the facets with fabric. created a piece inspired by dawn air, light, and color This piece was designed to be worn, and that relationship with the body was considered in every

Balance — Innovation & Tradition
DESCRIPTION
Traditional sewing techniques not only contributed to the overall appearance of garments, but also greatly improved their durability, comfort, performance, and life. This project takes those systems to tailor spaces to people in much the same way techniques such as honeycomb smocking and darts help fit a 2–dimensional piece of fabric to a 3–dimensional body.
Cutting on the bias in sewing refers to cutting fabric at a 45-degree angle to the grain lines of the fabric.
Fabrics cut on the bias have more stretch and fluidity, making them ideal for creating garments that need to conform to curves or body contours.
Creating the floor plan “on the bias” improved overall circulation. It also allowed design elements to work with and envelop the columns, rather than feeling restricted within the strict grid of the building.
Self-illuminated glass panels covered with smocked fabric provide a soft glow and translucency which serve to highlight the human form as people move past. Pleated fabric also covers Barrisol lighitng on the ceiling
