The Carteret Curated Instagram page was created by Mary Cheatham King Real Estate (MCKRE). We are a team of women, each with unique qualities and insights, who all have one thing in common — a deep love of this community!

Hosting Carteret Curated allows us to share our favorite tips, tricks and finds from local businesses and organizations all along the Crystal Coast.

For years, our team dreamed of different ways to highlight all of the uniquely wonderful small businesses within Carteret County — because, y’all, there are so many! We came up with the perfect solution: the Carteret Curated People’s Choice Awards, an annual community endeavor where residents and visitors alike get the chance to recognize their favorite small businesses within a variety of sub-categories, including the taste, shop, experience and give framework. In this inaugural year, over 10,000 folks who love Carteret County participated in the People’s Choice Awards. Hundreds of businesses were nominated, and we are thrilled to be able to highlight every single one in the pages to follow.

local business l ve We know that you love our local small businesses as much as we do. Here are five ways that you can support them all year long:

1 Write a review.

Writing reviews on a business’s Google or Facebook page helps increase their online presence, drive traffic to their website and give prospective customers a better idea of what their business is all about.

2 Utilize social media.

Snap a photo and show your favorites some love on platforms like Instagram or Facebook. Be sure to tag them, and tag us (@carteret. curated) when you do so. We’d love to help spread the love, too!

3 Text or email your group threads.

Did you recently have a great experience or find an awesome product at a local business? Scream it from the rooftops! Refer your friends, family or coworkers to your favorite spots to shop, eat, or experience.

4 Shop with them.

If you are able, purchasing a product, service or gift card is a fantastic way to support your favorite local business (and ensure that they are able to serve the community for years to come!).

5 Send a handwritten note to the owner.

Personally reaching out to business owners to let them know why you appreciate their business and their service means the world to them.
