Growing up in a home that appreciates art, creativity, education, and generosity shaped my personality and built my passion for designing unique environments and products.
Hearing my grandpa's voice saying, "People are enemies to what they don't know," pushes me to dig deep, search for better understanding, and learning new skills.
From designing small pens or jewelry to large architectural buildings and urban fabrics, No matter their scale and impact, I see all projects as opportunities to explore and innovate. Therefore I pure my heart into creating and designing each project. As my Mum always says, "what comes from the heart reaches the heart."
I still remember that windy, cold day when I was in bed, covering myself with a blanket and searching for housing case studies for a university project. I came across a mind-blowing article with a video demolishing Pruitt Igoe social housing project in ST Louis as it encourages crime and vandalism.
At that time, I didn't know how architecture could affect our behavior and well-being as humans. The video stopped me for a while and forever changed my perception and conviction of architecture. We, as architects, are responsible for designing a better urban and built environment for humanity. The social and emotional aspects are crucial and should be studied and considered.

“For the past ten years, it has been a pleasure to work with Maryam. She joined my team as a student intern at first, and from the very beginning she had a great deal of talent, passion, and most significantly, discipline at a very early age. Following a few encounters with various offices, she returned to my team in Abu Dhabi and quickly established herself as a key member of the core group, taking on several duties ranging from idea generation, sketching, and project solving, all the way to the detailed stage.
Maryam is one of my coworkers that has grown the fastest, is a fantastic team player, a selflearner, and has excellent and adaptable values. Her commitment to her job and to design is exceptional and invaluable. She was constantly looking for a task, not a mission. Maryam was more than just a team member; she was the inspiration behind the whole design team, ensuring that all of the project's core principles were upheld. Maryam has always been a terrific addition to the squad and will continue to be a force of nature for any future teams.“
“ Maryam Al Nahawi is one of the best Architects/Individual/ Human Beings I got a chance to work with over the past years, she is a very talented person who is not only keen about herself, but also willing to support and inspire/ motivate people around her. Her love for architecture & interior design is very inspiring and she is always improving her skills & talent year by year, I have witnessed her constant growth and I believe that growth will keep on expanding and branching over the next coming years.
She takes her work seriously and always pursues her dreams no matter what. Her prime goal was always to do good and I would title her a Goodwill Ambassador. I personally recommend Maryam in any organization, firm, company or team.”

This 435,600 sqm of land was bought by 2000 owners with their families to live in Hurghada, Egypt. The developer wants to create a unique family-oriented master plan that houses residential units and amenities.
I was hired to participate in designing the master plan and rendering it for the final presentation.
Challenging the mind to build 2000 homes in 435,600 sqm with complete privacy, adequate vehicle network, and accessible social community spaces pushes me to examine the prototype of the district section.
For families to enjoy complete privacy, I initiated the stepping-building concept. Affording sunny homes, airy views, and delightful terraces. I proposed secured shaded parking to leverage the vast space at the ground floor level between apartments.
Establishing a green strip between buildings' backsides offers safe playground access and cheerful views for flats. The altering greenery on the roadside forces low car speed and introduces landscaping views for the roadside apartments.
I joined the project in the competition's second round. The client loved the concept and the overall look but wanted to enhance the layouts and sections.
I worked intensively with the concept design leader after analyzing and studying project info (RFP, program, reference layouts from the client, and other case studies).

LANDSCAPE + INTERIOR
Leading and directing the interior design team to deliver design as per client preferred style.
Involved in Architectural and landscape design.
I was involved with the concept design team in a competition to renovate a residential building near the holistic site, Al Masjid Al Nabawi. The client wanted branded apartments with amenities and retail shops.
After winning the project, our company partner decided to assign me as a project design manager for this project, especially after succeeding in sea palace project as a project coordinator with a positive relationship with clients.
I directed internal teams and subconsultants to produce the IFC package and issue the permit within the project time frame, along with client liaison and preparing RFP and LOA.
Due to our performance and engaging client experience in the project, the client offered us the design project management of a larger designed commercial complex in Al Khobar, KSA.

DESIGN FOR HAPPINESS
21,400 sqm each building
How could we design a residential building that speaks to the offices' context while preserving the essence of home characteristics in a high-density location?
I collaborated with the concept design team to explore alternatives. We designed an animated facade with motorized perforated panels that could be opened in the morning to welcome natural light and closed at night to
ensure privacy while still viewing the surrounding.
The proposed concept caused the client to ask us to design five more residential buildings in Al Raha, Abu Dhabi.
