Banafsheh Sayyad is an Iranian-born dance artist and transformational teacher. She has a Masters of Fine Arts in Dance from UCLA where she taught Persian Dance and a Doctor of Chinese Medicine. She communicates the universal message of Sufi mysticism in a passionate yet meditative way. Her dance is an interplay between trance and directed movement, completely precise yet completely abandoned and unrestrained. Her explosive movement is sensual and ritualistic, an organic trance of impeccable technique gone wild yet anchored by a serene core. Reflexology 10 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM ♥ September 2014

eflexology is one of the many techniques of natural healing. It involves the gentle stimulation of a variety of pressure points on the hands and feet. Each point represents a corresponding gland, organ or part of the body. When a specific pressure point is stimulated, the health of that corresponding area of the body is promoted. It’s like giving you the ability to control your health by simply manipulating your hands and feet. It is the equivalent of receiving a treatment for the whole body, by working only on these limited areas. Reflexology was first practiced in ancient Egypt. The stimulation of selected points stimulates the flow of energy, know as the qi of the body (Qi). It provides balance, mainly in the central nervous system where chemical release of hormones is regulated. The precursor of current reflexology, Dr. William H. Fitzgerald, claimed that applying pressure to one part of the body, had an reciprocal effect on other areas of the body. Though widely used throughout the world today by alternative practitioners, traditional allopathic doctors still dispute its effectiveness, accepting its use for relaxation purposes only, but not necessarily accepting it as a healing.

ical and psychological concerns. Studies show it improves blood flow that is good for the nourishment of the cells. It creates relaxation in the body and mind and is helpful for people suffering from pain, depression and anxiety. It is especially useful for the reduction of stress. By working on the hands and feet, one can easily interrupt the stress signals that are sent to the rest of the body and reset the body’s equilibrium or homeostasis. Receiving treatments from a licensed therapist is an excellent way to maintain ones’ health. Or you can perform the therapy on yourself. Right in your convenience of your home, you can watch highly instructive videos that demonstrate how reflexlogy is done and you can learn some of the specific spots and locations that can be used to stimulate your body’s health. You will find more information on training videos on reflexology, available at Alternative Health Care Site http://alternativehealthcaresite.com/ category/reflexology

There are, however, many studies done concerning the effectiveness of reflexology. A survey of 170 studies from 21 countries shows that reflexology is effective and addresses a variety of phys11 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM ♥ September

Akashic Records

Part Two By Sherri Cortland

Before we get to the meditation to access the Akashic Records that I promised you in part one of this article, let’s first talk a little bit about past lives. Here’s the thing about past lives, and why we don’t come into this world awake to all of our past experiences: We must focus on the here and now because that’s what’s most important for our spiritual growth and the evolution of our soul. If we remembered all of our past lives, and most of us have had violent, difficult, and just plain sad incarnations; we would spend too much of our precious time on Earth dwelling on those lives, instead of living in the present; and, according to my Guide Group... (1) Living in the moment, and being aware of the repercussions our thoughts, words, and actions have on those around us is what propels us forward spiritually and allows us to raise our vibratory levels. (2) Being aware of what we do and say every day, and focusing on who we are now, is what will keep us from acquiring additional Karmic debt to be paid in this or future lives. (3) Figuring out what our mission and purpose for this life is, is much easier to do when we’re not fo cused who we were, what we did, and what happened to us in the past.

can be a very good thing; for example, if we have an innate fear of something, it’s probably connected to a past life experience. Tracing the source of that fear to the past life where it originated will often allow us to put the residual energy of that past life back into the Akashic Records where it belongs, allow us to release any residual fear, and free us to move forward with our current Spiritual To Do list and mission. We just have to put on our big lightworker pants and put what we learn into perspective. Here’s a message that my Guide Group gave me when I first started delving into my own past lives: Sherri, we caution you to limit your desire to research past lives to those that directly affect your current incarnation and mission. It is easy to get caught up in the ‘who was I’ and ‘Isn’t it cool that I used be’ of past life regression and the acquired knowledge from such meditations and readings. Keep in the forefront of your mind that balance is called for when researching past lives, do not allow yourself to get caught up in these things to the extent that you lose sight of what is important. What is important is watching what you think, do and say every day, because that is how you will raise your vibrations, create positive energy, and create less future karmic debt.

Now that we understand why it’s so important to remain in the here and now, let’s get to that mediation, and if you’re a beginner in accessing the reThat said, learning about the past lives cords, please keep the following in mind: that directly affect our present lives 13 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM ♥ September 2014

puma 20 THEDENMAGAZINE.COM ♥ September 2014

The cougar (or puma) is found in North, Central, and South America. It is very closely related to the common house cat and does very well in captivity. Unlike the other big cats, the cougar cannot roar and purrs like the house cat. Three of the over 20 subspecies of the cougar are endangered: the Florida panther (Puma concolor coryi), the Costa Rican Puma (Puma concolor costaricensis), and the Eastern Puma (Puma concolor couguar). The color and thickness of the coat of the cougar varies according to region and subspecies, but generally, cougars are tawny-colored with black-tipped ears and tails. Cougars can run up to 43 mph and can jump 20 feet from a standing position. They can leap a distance of 16 feet vertically. Size also varies according to subspecies. North American cougars can grow up to eight feet long and can weigh up to 150 lb.

The cougar species as a whole has made a dramatic recovery with over 30,000 in the US alone. The main cause of decline is loss of habitat. Only 30 to 50 Florida panthers remain in the wild today. Cause of decline for the Florida panther is human development and population growth in Florida, and some panthers are killed by collisions with vehicles. Eastern puma populations are said to be between 20 and 100 individuals. Estimated popuCougars can kill prey up to seven lation for the Costa Rican puma is untimes their body weight. Criticism by Ellen Angelica Pendergast Art by Konstantina Pal

Many well meaning individuals feel that to demonstrate criticism is THE way, and the only way to help someone learn, develop or realize their errors. Criticism has been used to get someone to do what is asked; to obey, or to just plain feel badly enough about oneself, that they are expected or motivated to correct whatever seems to be considered ‘wrong.’

within the ‘guidelines’ of feeling this is the best way to handle any situation that calls for compromise. Whether the criticism comes from control, hate, caring, or even most saying it comes from “Love,” the point is that it never makes one feel good. It usually doesn’t even cause the one doing the criticizing to feel good either, let alone the one getting the criticism. That thought is like painting a picture, ripping it up, and thinking it will have improved the appearance of that painting. To ‘shred’ someones’ self esteem and self worth by criticism only keeps that pattern of whatever they are doing, to continue. It is Law. What you ‘put out there’ in thought, word and deed, will manifest into what you are placing out there. It will return again, and again, and again. The Challenge of Healing Body: How Can We Really Heal Ourselves and Our Beloved Planet Using the Pachakuti Mesa? by don Oscar Miro-Quesada

Part one

Art by Maryam Morrison https://www.facebook.com/maryammarts 24 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM ♼ September 2014

The physical body is effect, responding to energy and consciousness as cause. Healing always points to a renewal of creative powers, toward a condition that is vital, stirring, strong, and whole, as befits a creative beginning.

She purses her lips as she wills herself to stand, but her limbs buckle and refuse her command. “Damn stroke has ruined my life!” she moans, as she flops back into the chair. “How did I end up this way?” she obsesses. “Is there a reason I must endure such torturous physical disability for the rest of my life?” As Pachakuti Mesa carriers, we recognize that the body is much more than physical form alone. As Rumi tells it, “The body’s a mirror of heaven,” and self, nature, culture, world, and cosmos are completely intertwined. Everything that exists in the universe has vibration and frequency. It is all energy, and energy creates all form. From the light of spirit and consciousness to mind and then into matter, spirit literally projects through thought into the third dimension. As the physicist David Bohm once said, “All matter is frozen light.” These vibrations of light and consciousness ultimately inform all manifested reality. 25 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM ♥ September 2014

Thus, whether our focus is on healing the physical, social, or the planetary body, the path to transformation is also the same. All healing transformation requires first that we come into alignment with the higher vibrational frequencies of spirit. To do this, we engage soul, spirit, heart, and mind as discussed in previous chapters. We commune and consecrate and compose and connect to detect and direct the finer forces of energies and vibrational radiations that are beyond audible sound and on either side of the visible light spectrum. Because the body’s innate healing ability is the direct result of the mani- festation of spirit within it, to heal we must first attune. As we do, we remember our inherent wholeness as our birthright and as our true essence. We align the frequencies of gross matter within our human form to the higher frequen- cies that we were created to mirror. You see, the Divine that we carry within us patterns all molecular structure, from the farthest reach of the stars to each cell within our physical bodies. By attuning to the at-One-ment we spoke of in the last chapter, we enter again into sacred relationship with the hoop of life. And as we align again with this knowing, we recognize our interdependent relationship with all seen and unseen dimensions of Pachamama’s web. Most “modern” religions emphasize

earthly transcendence as a key to positive transformation, yet the wisdom traditions practiced by our ancestors and embodied in the Pachakuti Mesa provide for a very sensual and earthly experience. With our rituals, we envision and imagine the sounds, smells, look, and feel of the rich earth, the flowing water, the singing wind, the creative flame, and the sacred rainbow that bridges the worlds. We do this with such discipline, compassion, and clarity that these powers cannot but help to “show up” in eager anticipation to serve us with gratitude and love. As we construct our altars, we celebrate relationship and re-claim deep connection with ourselves, our communities, and our beloved Pachamama. As we call forth the power of nature into our altars, we recognize that we are not isolated or alone. The construction of our altars helps us to realize that we are luminous strands within the whole. Through our altars, we recognize ourselves as spirit embodied. We cry tears of gratitude as we celebrate our presence and our full partici- pation in the physical world. In my almost thirty years of teaching this tradition, I have found that most people who come to my workshops and train- ings are looking for a change. They realize that everything that they have accumulated and felt a sense of ownership of is no longer cutting the mustard.

26 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM ♥ September 2014

So, initially, they come for self- healing. Little by little, however, they move from a focus on healing the self to a focus on healing relationships with one another, on reclaiming a sense of belonging and community, and on restoring right relationship with our beloved Earth mother. That is why these native traditions are so relevant to the suffering of the modern world. The art of creating sacred community, of focusing on the sacred reciprocity of ayni and service expresses the nature of God/Goddess Creator Spirit, which is love. This focus wakes us from the fantasy of unconscious desire and projection. It encourages right action, borne of compassionate spiritual wis- dom, which unites. But we can only succeed in this agenda if we are able to hold this vision of oneness in front of us always. To do this, we need to come together as like-minded individuals who are bonded by a greater purpose. As Gary Snyder summarized it, at the end of his powerful poem, “For the Children,” we need to “stay together, learn the flowers, [and] go light!”

So how may I and others melt this resistance so that we may move forwardwith enthusiasm to embrace Unity Consciousness? I know that I have had many experiences of merging and oneness, which I have enjoyed andwanted to last, but once I am no longer in that state, it becomes frightening again.

that most of you ear ones hanker after.

Dear One, Unity Consciousness is ultimately not just about part-time experiencing. It is the bedrock of reality. It is High Truth. It is who you are.

In this state, you know within your deep, inner knowingness that your personality/ ego self are but actors on the stage of the unified field of consciousness, playing different roles within “Lila,” Divine Play. From this place of wise orientation, the ego and themind lose their chronic obsession with seriousness, with control, with feeling that they are the deepest reality.

All resistance to absolute reality causes pain, suffering, and struggle. It causes disease, old age, and early death. So this business, dearest, of part-time spiritual Nirvana doesn’t work. Part-time practice of spirituality gives part-time results. Half-heartedness leads to a half-baked cake of awareness. Single-pointedness of pure intention on the path releases the grand battle raging within you between your personality self, your mind, and that which you are—immortal, infinite, all that is.

This unlimited flow is your birthright, and separation, control, manipulation, and ego are its deadly enemies. Here I would like to mention that all so-called evil—call it the shadow, the unconscious, the devil, or call it dark phenomena—helps to define the light. This assists you in seeing what you have sown. It facilitates your process of choosing between different situations—enlightened ones and those of complete ignorance. It’s fine for your ego to have some fun as long as the deepest and strongest part of your beingness is anchored in the awareness of being the unified field of consciousness.

Instead the mind, the ego, the personality self, enjoys the role but have an innate knowingness that they are not the role, and this is just acting. There is a complete disidentification on the deepest level with the role, with being an actor, with being separate. From this place of enlightened awareness, your play and participation, as a unique and individual This released energy creates infinite emanation of source, become light, joyabundance of time, money, love, and all ful, and very, very humorous. other aspects of abundant energy flow 29 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM ♥ September 2014

Every time you find yourself, dear Amravati, dear humans, becoming too serious, know it is your mind. Your true nature is that of “having a party,” Amravati. It is childlike, spontaneous, uncalculating, generous, and free. It is also grounded and responsible. Not a serious kind of responsibility but just very open, sensitive and responsive moment to moment to moment. It is also very much the energy of being here now. Very present to the present moment. Amravati: Thank you, Lord Buddha, for all that clarification. I realize that my desire to be a part-time aspirant is a very important issue to heal, and that has been helped very much by what you have explained. As I move forward with this new awareness, I hope to allow myself to embrace the suggestions full-heartedly so that I can experience a full blossoming of Unity Consciousness while allowing my unique personality to shine forth at the same time. Rashmi: Lord Buddha, I can hear the hearts of many saying this is not possible—this marrying of relative and absolute reality. I know from my own experience that dancing in the relative, while having my roots and beingness in the absolute, is totally the way I wish for my life to be, without any doubt. I also know that the stronger I am in my anchoring in the unified field of awareness, the greater is the daring, the depth, and the beauteous colors of my personality self. Because I know that I am nothing, (not just as an intellectual concept of nothingness), I can be everything. I can be a goddess,

grounding heaven on earth here now, and a global, cosmic, multidimensional being. I can channel the energies of Lord Buddha, Lord Shiva, and Lord Jesus, from my own inner unified field of beingness, or be an artist, a dancer, a singer, and many, many other roles. My problem is that sometimes people say, “Who do you think you are to be so larger than life?” For example, my Mother says I must not go around calling myself a Goddess or acting like one. Can you please help me with this issue, as well as my fellow human beings as they wake up to being the gods and goddesses that they are? People sometimes accuse me of being a drama queen, but are we not Divine emanations of source (non-seriously) playing out multifarious dramas on the stage of our lives, lifetime after lifetime? Are we not here Lord Buddha just for the sake of creation beyond profit and loss and other 3D considerations? Dearest Rashmi, you know very well that I kept God/Goddess concepts out of the equation in my time on earth when the world saw me as Buddha, the Enlightened One. However, for the purposes of this book and the update from when I was Lord Buddha in that lifetime, we are not going to get stuck on language differences. So, you are right, this is a time now of the awakening of humanity to a higher octave that is beyond endless cycles of birth and death. It is a time of awakening

to a place where humanity realizes (both collectively and individually) their unlimited pure potentiality, creativity, and multidimensionality. Also, this is a time for humanity to fully wake up to the realization of its unity with all that is, of their oneness with all that is. This, dear Rashmi, you call the wakening up of the god/ goddess within. Of course, I know that you don’t mean a judgmental separate mother/father god wagging a large finger of accusation at your human side. As you know, dear one, and I would like to remind you: onthe spiritual path, and on any path of so-called intelligence, one is above the good opinion of others. By this I mean that the opinion of others is none of your business. A true master has an unconditional acceptance of both insult and admiration. Both are received by the master from a place of neutrality. If you praise the “aware one,” their ego does not get inflated. If you insult such an enlightened one, the insult is not taken personally. In other words you cannot really “push their buttons.” This is because the deepest part of their awareness is anchored in the nothingness within—the inner temple of supreme silence and bliss. Such a master understands fully the changeable nature of moods, thoughts, and mental climates. Also dear one, you know that as Maha Avatar Babaji teaches so beautifully, the truth does not require numbers for its validation. It stands its ground and its beauty even if it is all alone in a crowd of people.

Understanding Humanity from the Indian Culture Part one by Shilpa Savant

34 THEDENMAGAZINE.COM ♼ September 2014

Understanding Humanity from the Indian Culture Before focusing on the Indian culture, let us first understand what is culture and what are the rising challenges faced by us in enjoying and evolving global culture of Humanity. Socially, Culture is learned behavior of a group of people that are considered the tradition of that people and are transmitted from generation to generation. Is this the only definition of culture? No. It also has its Psychological and Organic insights which are required to be understood well. Psychologically, Culture is a collective programming of the mind. The tools practiced by culture in order to program the mind include: Symbols (words, proverbs, gestures, pictures or objects) that carry a particular meaning in a particular culture. Symbols represent outermost layer of a culture. Heroes (persons, past or present, real or fictitious) who possess characteristics that are highly prized in a culture. They serve as role models for ideal behavior. Rituals (ways of greetings, paying respect, ceremonies, etc.) as collective activities in reaching desired objectives, considered as socially essential. Values are at the core of any culture. Symbols, heroes, and rituals are the tangible or visual aspects of the practices of a culture. The true cultural meaning of the practices is intangible. This is revealed only when the practices are interpreted by the insiders. Values are broad tendencies for preferences while dealing with different situations and people in life. Values can be inferred from the way people act un-

der different circumstances. Ways to ensure consistent and frequent practice by masses cutting across all the layers of culture (Symbols, Heroes, Rituals and Values) creates the integrated impact in programming the mind. Because repeated actions create habits, habits influences character and common characteristics of majority of people creates culture. The integrated manifestation of cultural tools at different levels of depth is summarised through a diagram here. Is Culture just another socio psychological program made by few elites utilizing the tools to be enforced upon masses? No. Culture is macro mirror of how human masses are evolving over a period of time across the community segments, Naturally, Organically. Across cultures and countries, it has been observed that inorganic / artificial / centralized ways of changing culture proves to be short sighted and hence unsustainable. It will be the Organic Culture that will be sustainable. Hence it is vital that we understand the 5 key elements of Organic culture. Organically, Culture means collective behavior that • Protects environment • Minimize degradation, erosion and pollution • Reinforces Universal unity with individual responsibility • Reinforces human productivity with optimum development and utilization of human potential • Ensures continuity of the culture through

decentralized and self sustainable systems made to last The global challenge is in facilitating organic evolution of masses for humanity through effective application of cultural tools. Here is where we can learn from the India which serves as Organic Culture Leader of the world in past, present and future. Let’s see few examples of how the Indian culture applies various tools for organic evolution of the Indian community. The Indian culture to protect environment: The Indian culture is well known for continuing its ancient faith in environmental forces treating them as God. List of environmental deities goes much beyond the five elements to cover rivers, mountains, trees, animals & birds. This include teams of species across the food chain (rat, cobra, peacock and eagle as one team AND bull, lion visualized to reside together as part of one family). The list also includes fruits, flowers, leaves, grass and even insects. This is because one core values of the Indian culture is that every atom has life in it. This include stones, sand, constructions and basically every matter. And hence all matters require to be treated with respect and care. With this background in

mind, it is no wonder that this culture has contributed significantly in making the India a nation with very high bio diversity. Highest number of NGOs, volunteers and experts contributing to environmental causes are the Indians. Nurtured by the Indian culture, scientific inventors such as Dr Jagdish Chandra Bose made number of pioneering discover ies in plant physiology. He used his own invention, the crescograph, to measure plant response to various stimuli, and thereby scientifically proved parallelism between animal and plant tissues. Although Bose filed for a patent for one of his inventions due to peer pressure, his reluctance to any form of patenting (same as in case of many inventors from the Indian culture) was well known. To facilitate his research, he constructed automatic recorders capable of registering extremely slight movements; these instruments produced some striking results, such as Bose’s demonstration of an apparent power of feeling in plants, exemplified by the quivering of injured plants. His books include Response

in the Living and Non-Living (1902) and The Nervous Mechanism of Plants (1926) makes the reader Cultured in real sense as the reader starts being respectful in dealing with all. There are number of daily rituals and annual practices that ensure participation by masses in respecting environment as the Indian. The practices include daily practices such as Earth and Sun Prayer in Morning and annual practices such as nature based festivals at the beginning and end of every season. In summary, it is the Indian culture that has helped the India retain environmental balance even after very high density of population residing in limited geography. he Indian culture is sensitive and wise to offer inspiration and guidelines to prevent and minimize degradation, erosion and pollution happening around humans in various forms (natural, social & individual). The Indian scriptures pay respect to Avatars such as Varaha Avatar and Matsya Avatar saving world from environmental imbalances created by mis deeds of human race. To minimize natural degradation, the Indian rituals adore many specific environmental protectors (specific trees such as Neem, Banyan, coconut, Ficus religiosa – The Buddha tree and specific plants such as Basil) ensuring their place in most of the Indian households and villages across the country. The India was the first one to find use of cow’s dung and urine in protecting environment from degradation at microbial level.

Most of the Indian farms carry out indigenous methods of regenerating soil health through organic compost supported by the Indian rituals encouraging live stock with most farmers. The Indian festivals include Innovative ways of preserving local variety of seeds and live stock making India the country having highest variety of food seeds and live stock species. The India is also a country having very less use of agro chemicals and hybrid seeds. To minimize social degradation, the Indian culture has gifted the community with highly developed model of community life. Series of community based festivals reinforces the joy of togetherness and sense of belonging among the Indians. The Indian culture is unique in its inclusiveness celebrating multi religional festivals (Navaratri, New Year Eve and Holi) with equal grandeur and massive participation by millions of Indians across religious preferences. The Indian culture provides detailed guidelines with modern flexibilities to nurture Indian Family system that respects individual roles.

The Co-Creative Muse By Dr. Barry Hammer

Image: Charles Meynier 40 THEDENMAGAZINE.COM ♼ September 2014

I find that the best kind of creative inspiration, in any field of endeavor or area of study, comes from communing deeply with other life presences, in heartfelt, open-minded, empathic attunement with them. The more deeply we invest our heart, mind, and senses, in communion with other life presences, experiences, and activities, in the world, the more does the co-creative heart core of our own being become stirred through that penetrating relational contact, and reveal greater gifts of creative inspiration and meaningful insight, as the source of great artistic expression, heart-full living, and enhanced performance in any field of study or area of endeavor. When individual hearts resonate in deeply invested attunement with each other, they energize each other, like magnets, releasing the co-creative process of synergy, like electricity flowing only when an electrical plug and socket, or positive and negative electrical poles, are connected to one another. However, as long as the heart remains egocentrically, narcissistically, selfishly, self-absorbed, or self-possessed, we will be able to make only rather shallow contact with others, with only the superficial levels of our awareness. Without heartfelt communion, the mind and senses, by themselves alone, can contact, understand, and appreciate, only rather superficial aspects of reality, and provide only a relatively shallow, mechanical, level of creative artistic functioning. That is why I agree with what St. Exupery wrote, in his book, “The Little Prince”, “It is only with the eyes of the heart that

one can see what is most essential in life….Only the heart sees clearly, because what is essential is not visible to the eyes”. I might add, what is essential in life is also not available to the analytical intellect, functioning independently of the deeper, relational, insight of the heart, because the analytical mind tends to be narcissistically self-absorbed in its own divisive thought, rather than making unmediated direct contact with other life presences, experiences, and activities, in the world, and thereby developing a holistic, integral, undivided, penetrating, insightful vision of reality. To make direct, deep, empathic, contact with anyone or anything, and to tap into the relational source of co-creative insight and inspiration, one must let go of pre-committed mental presumptions, preconceptions, and abstractions, which function like an opaque filter, barrier, or distorting mechanism, keeping the mind self-absorbed in its own thought, and blocking direct contact and heartfelt empathic communion with actual life experience in the world, which the philosopher Martin Buber describes as the I-Thou relationship, in contrast to the I-It relationship. In Biblical terms, this is the difference between experiencing reality as though through a “poor reflection”, or “a glass darkly” rather than “face to face” (I Corinthians 13:12).). Communing with the enduring living presence, or living spirit, that the author of any creative work has invested in a particular creative production can empathically reveal the meaningful intention and originating inspirational experience of that author

or producer. The reason why the highest source level of creative insight, inspiration, and production, comes from relational communion is because it is a relational reality nature, rather than a solo, divisive, dualistic, or separate individualistic nature. Therefore, introspective processes that produce greater self-involvement, and break off heartfelt communion with others, cannot reveal and release the highest level of creative functioning. Caring human relationships, and loving communion with each here and now moment of experience, can also facilitate compassionate, creative transformations of individual people, personal relationships, local communities, and global society by enabling the healing energy of love to gradually transform individual hearts, and the collective spiritual heart of humanity, from divisive selfishness, fear, and brutality to unselfish caring about others, involving greater awareness of the intrinsically relational, contextual, interdynamic nature of reality. This involves revitalizing contemporary individual life, personal relationships, and society by developing a greater awareness of the luminous, numinous core of reality, contacted through deeply penetrating communion with the surface level of reality.

In the physical world, there are two kinds of prana: (1) the cosmic vibratory energy that is omnipresent in the universe, structuring and sustaining all things;

no consciousness in the empirical, nor transcendental, sense. It is the basis of the empirical consciousness, but soul is the conscious unit. Soul through ego dictates, and prana, its servant, obeys. Prana, neither grossly material nor purely spiritual, borrows from the soul its power of activating the body. It is the power lodged between soul and matter for the purpose of expressing the former and moving the latter. The soul can exist without prana, but the prana in the body cannot exist without a soul as its substratum.

(2) the specific prana or energy that pervades and sustains each human body through five currents or functions. Prana current performs the function of crystallization; vyana current, circulation; samana current, assimilation; udana current, metabolism; and apana current, elimination. The universal prana underlying all combinations in creation is the basis of unity that has prevented the One Spirit from being irrevocably split into many. It pervades all atoms of the universe and every place in the cosmos. It is the primal, direct, subtle link between matter and Spirit—less spiritual than the Great Spirit, but more spiritual than the material atoms. This universal prana is the father of all so-called forces, which Spirit (in Its immanent form) utilizes to Reference: create and sustain the universe. Prana is an intelligent force, but has

An Excerpt from A Journey to Oneness by Rasha

Co-creating a World of Hope and Personal Empowerment By Rasha

46 THEDENMAGAZINE.COM ♼ September 2014

It’s no secret to anyone paying attention that life, as we thought we knew it, is falling apart. The question in the minds of so many of us is why. Why, all of a sudden, are so many lives utterly upside-down? Why are the once unshakable pillars of our society crumbling at our feet? And what on earth, pray tell, is that mysterious sense of unrest silently smoldering at the very core of each of us? What could possibly be propelling so many perfectly sensible individuals to cast it all to the wind and set off into the great unknown—the sacred world within? In A Journey to Oneness—the longawaited sequel to the underground spiritual classic, Oneness—Divine Messenger, Rasha, takes us along for the ride on a seven-year odyssey that explores those kinds of questions, as she shares the incredible story of her own sacred journey through the labyrinths of consciousness. With the profound, transcribed wisdom of Oneness (the Divine Presence many people refer to as “God”) to light the way, A Journey to Oneness takes us for an authentic ride on the roller-coaster of spiritual transformation. Within these pages are the answers to our deepest questions and the tools to radically change our lives—and transform our world. This vivid, literary tapestry chronicles a mind’s probing questions about what is actually happening as it slowly unravels and shifts into a higher octave

of perception—documents the astounding answers as they emerge from within—and weaves it all seamlessly with the poetry and rapture of Divine Union. As Oneness helps Rasha circumnavigate the potholes along the road to “freedom,” the reader is given a vibrant new vision of the nature of humanness, and in-depth guide to discovering the Divinity within. This selection from A Journey to Oneness reveals what’s really at the heart of the upheaval in so many people’s lives—energy that’s mirrored right back to us in the form of the world we share. As Oneness guides us in recognizing the clues offered by our own emotions, we learn to source and align with a deeper place within us that empowers us to begin to shift it. Oneness speaks: The vibrational foundation for the inevitability of change in these times “The catalyst for the momentum of change is all around you. It is in the very air you breathe and in the cells that imbibe it. The vibrational acceleration that accompanies the changes that have been scripted is calculated to stimulate to the surface all the residual evidence of the outmoded structure. The depths of the emotional body harbors eons of repressed experience, vibrationally, that the dictates of culture and propriety forced into the inner recesses of your being.

Those energies, buried within your own depths, seek to be released now. The energies flooding your planet call forth the vibrational density hidden within you all. And outbursts on an interpersonal level—and within the macrocosm of the world around you that reflects it—are to be expected. The intensity of what you may be feeling will seem exaggerated in proportion to the events that may have triggered them. And yet, the authenticity of these expressions will compel you to transcend the reticence instilled by propriety and to cull forth from within your inner depths the emotional density you carry and the release of it that serves as the catalyst for change. Who you are becoming defies the explanations of the logical frames of reference with which you have been programmed in this lifetime. Those standards of expectation were structured for a world that has long since been left behind. And one finds oneself establishing one’s own precedents, and blazing a trail of one’s own design that has little relation to what may have been anticipated. You have come to this moment in your journey to set the roadmaps down for a time, and to trust in the compass within to guide you in a direction you can sense at a level that cannot be explained—and which you feel compelled to honor—despite what others may have to say about it. You have come to the point of cutting loose from the constraints of obsolete obligations

and allowing yourself the Grace of aligning yourself with your own inner truth, at all costs. One’s priorities come up for scrutiny yet again in the course of this process of metamorphosis. And there is the inclination to trade in sets of circumstances that focus on the amassment of material gain in deference to ones which offer the priceless gift of freedom. You have come to this moment to begin to learn to fly and to relinquish the idea that you are required to keep two feet on the ground in the ways you have been programmed to do throughout this lifetime. There are no limits to what you are capable of experiencing and creating in this lifetime. There are no limits to the perception of this world of wonder and your place within it, beyond those you yourself embrace, through your choices. The mirror of your own inner reflection is all around you now. And the nuances of that imagery begins to shift before your very eyes, as you continue to align with the resonance of a sense of self, birthing itself anew from within. That self will continue to emerge throughout this lifetime and well beyond, as you continue to harmonize with the resonance of change that characterizes your world and all within it. The allegiance one now feels compelled to pledge becomes an affirmation of all that one now recognizes that one has become—and a reflection of all that one now is not. For, that allegiance

is to one’s own inner truth, and cuts one loose from the affiliations and ties once required by cultural conditioning. One cannot hope to fly to the heights of human experience and simultaneously remain bound to the expectations set down by a world fast becoming engulfed in the mists of a distant dream. You are transcending that place in time by the minute. And where you now find yourself to be has only a passing resemblance to what was once recognizable reality. The political structures and spiritual hierarchies that held the hearts of human consciousness in place have begun to lose their grasp now. The world as you know it is shaking itself loose from these constraints. And, in so doing, the consciousness present is freeing itself up to co-create this world anew as a reflection of hope and personal empowerment.

Rasha is a modern-day spiritual Messenger, she has worked as a courier of Divine guidance for over twenty years. In February 1998, she began a profound dialogue with the universal Presence, “Oneness”─ the Divinity we all share. Word for word, Rasha transcribed the principles that give us a new level of understanding of the mystery we call “life.” Theses teachings empower us to take a quantum leap into our own inner depths and totally transform our lives ─ and our world. You have chosen to be part of this momentum, simply by being present. You have chosen to participate in a wave of transformation experienced collectively. For, the catalyst for these very changes is you—each of you. Together, you have co-created these conditions vibrationally, with the vote cast by each of you upon the ethers of the collective. And together you have begun to experience the limitlessness of possibility that is Oneness—in the guise of humanness—that is your birthright.”

Going Within by Sara Chetkin

MANO AND I MADE OUR WAY UP TO THE TREATMENT ROOMS. WE WERE IN ONE OF MY FAVORITES. IT LOOKED OUT OVER THE BACK YARD, TOWARDS THE RIVER, WHICH YOU COULD EASILY HEAR RUSHING BY IF YOU OPENED THE WINDOWS. THE WALLS WERE A PALE LAVENDER AND THE SUN SHONE IN, GIVING THE ROOM A BRIGHT AND CHEERFUL FEELING. I lay down on the treatment table, and Mano began the guided meditation. All was well until the pretzel phenomena started. At first I just ignored it. I was so used to it, I just expected that it would arrive at some point in every session. But this time I couldn’t escape it. Every question led to pretzel. Every answer was unattainable. I didn’t know right from left or up from down. 51 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM ♥ September 2014

Mano might have been talking. I couldn’t hear him. I was like the taffy you see getting stretched in the candy store . . . pulled this way and then that way. I was Gumbi in the hands of a four- year-old. I was the most complicated yoga position known to man. And then quite suddenly everything shifted. I was no longer twisted in avoidance. I was totally and completely and very literally paralyzed. “I’m paralyzed!!” I suddenly shouted. “I’m paralyzed, I can’t move!” Mano jumped up. “What do you mean???” “I’m paralyzed! I’m in a wheelchair.” “Relax, Sara, take a few breaths. You’re not really paralyzed.” Then I saw something that embodied so much of my own fears about scoliosis that I trembled as I looked. A woman with a slender figure and long brown hair was seated before me, most reluctantly, in a wheelchair. She was bitter, powerless, and exhausted from so much struggling. So, this was the image I had spent years twisting myself into a pretzel to avoid? This woman in a wheelchair? Was it me in a past life? Or in the future? What was the meaning of this? And why had I tried so hard to avoid it? I did have intense fears about being paralyzed. I thought it was totally irrational until I saw this image lurking in my sub- conscious. Maybe it was a past life, or maybe it was an image I saw in a movie as a child. Maybe it scared me and so I tucked it away. Whatever it was, and that part didn’t really matter, it had clearly traumatized me. I was wasting mounds of energy trying to avoid it. I was twisting myself into

impossible knots so I didn’t have to look. And no wonder; that image represented everything I felt about my spine: disempowered, cheated, angry, hopeless. I projected all of that onto this one image of a woman in a wheelchair, whoever she was. Now that she was out in the open, those feelings were on the table. I didn’t really know it, but until that moment I hadn’t dared to feel anything. Truthfully, I didn’t even know I was avoiding my feelings. I thought, because of everything I was doing for my spine— like going to Delphi to study Ro-Hun— I was facing the problem head on. On the surface, that was true, but on a deeper level—which is more important — I ran from those feelings faster and faster. But we can run as fast as we like. I’ve learned that one way or another, everything finds its way to the surface. I looked at the woman seated before me. She was angry, that much was clear. She was bitter and sad. She felt she didn’t deserve her lot in life. She felt hateful and jealous towards “normal” people. And most of all she felt powerless because she was different and she couldn’t change that. She was entirely focused on what was wrong, and made no efforts to see anything that was right. She didn’t want to look at herself or think about herself or participate in anything joyful or fun. Everything, but especially the idea of joyful things, was a reminder of her belief that she would never be truly joyful. It all pointed to the unfairness and the cruelty of her life.

52 THEDENMAGAZINE.COM ♥ September 2014

These feelings were not strange to me. They were me. This woman mirrored my daily experience. Until then, I had been utterly ignorant of my own emotions, but now I could see that I was a mess! I recognized how sad I was and I cried long, heaving sobs. It was a relief to find her, and to face myself. It was a blessing to see a possibility for freedom from these feelings. All I had to do was forgive myself for feeling so disempowered and for carrying this anger and bitterness around for so many years. That was easy when I saw how much suffering I had already been through. I learned something else that day. There is a difference between facing the truth about how sad or angry or hurt you are and just feeling sorry for yourself. When we feel sorry for ourselves, we aren’t confronting anything. We are comparing our situations to others who appear to have it better. The comparison hurts, and we feel bad. The opposite happens when you face your own emotions. No one else matters. Your experience becomes the central theme. You are of the utmost importance. Once you see yourself plainly without the usual masks and excuses, the vulnerability and the fragility of that experience creates healing automatically. Compassion for yourself becomes natural. You joyfully become your own support system, and you realize you don’t need anyone else to do it for you. You can heal yourself.

Diet and Supplements

Exercise plays an important part in any health-promoting routine. Make it a goal to include physical activity in your schedule at least three or four times a week for one hour. Walk, ride a bicycle, jog, or join an exercise class.

Physical and Mental Exercise

In addition to your cardiovascular exercise, it’s important to also do mental exercises, or what Dr. Dharma calls “brain aerobics.” Spending at least twenty minutes three times a week doing mental exercise will stimulate your brain, helping to keep it functioning as it should through the years, and also sharpen your cognitive skills. You can exercise your brain in many ways, including playing stimulating board games, doing crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble, reading a book, learning a new song, or playing a musical instrument. Of course, the best exercise of all combines both a physical activity with a mental one. Try singing your favorite song or listening to a language tape as you walk or jog. It can contribute to depression and anxiety disorders, which also interfere with normal memory function. You can reduce stress in your life by preparing a schedule ahead of time, balancing work and leisure activities, set realistic expectations and goals. Meditation, yoga, and deep breathing exercises are all excellent ways of reducing stress and providing relaxation. Prescribed Pharmaceuticals Unfortunately, there are only a few pharmaceutical drugs currently being prescribed to treat patients with Alzheimer’s disease, and those only for mild to moderate symptoms Aricept (donepezil), Rasadyne (galantamine), Exelon (rivastigmine) and Namenda (memantine) have been found to slightly delay the deterioration of memory in patients with Alzheimer’s as well as improve some of the symptoms.

The strategies and techniques outlined here will provide you with an integrated and holistic program for the prevention of memory loss, and also help prevent Alzheimer’s disease as well.
