SteveConsider to raise the roads for the people and create a pleasant microclimate with trees and water. DarrinWay more creative ways – if you presented this as complete network system and think about how the road and the infrastructure is handled differently – to not see the cars as hideous. Example in Chicago- Wakerly dirve – an underworld for cars. Where I buy into the proposal will deal on how you detail the space. How complete and thought through it is at multiple levels.

Final Critique Comments

Steve had recommended we raise the secondary roads going through our blocks to create a pleasant microclimate with trees and water. We want to approach this recommendation in a way to still suit our vision of creating a protected environment from the warm climate by protecting the courtyard area with an elevated roadway. However, the lack of environmental qualities above the pedestrian space needs to be addressed, which we will look at improving the green and terracing spaces with the SRVVLELOLW\RIEULQJLQJWKHSHGHVWULDQVWRVWUHHWOHYHOJXDUGLQJWKHPIURPWKHYHKLFXODUWUDIĂ€FZLWKWKHVHJUHHQVSDFHVDQGWUHHV or shrubs. Darrin suggested we really look into the movement of cars below ground and reverse the roles which we presented in our proposal. By looking at the overall network is a more creative way, more solutions may have arisen rather than where we arrived at our single quadrant scale. Our next step would include the incorporation of an entire network throughout the city and look at precedents from cities such as that in Wakerly Drive in Chicago. -RKQSURYLGHGXVZLWKDFRPPHQWUHJDUGLQJWKHVFDOHRIYHKLFXODURIWUDIĂ€FLQWKH8QLWHG6WDWHVYHUVXVRWKHUSODFHVZKLFKZH PLJKWQRWEHXVHGWR:HFDQORRNDWVWDWLVWLFVDQGWUDIĂ€FFRXQWVLQRUGHUWRFUHDWHDORJLFDOUHDVRQLQJIRURXUDSSURDFK7KLV will lead us to a functional and pragmatic approach that is necessary and will make sense. 'HWDLOLQJWKHVSDFHVDVZHOODVORRNLQJDWPRUHFUHDWLYHWUDIĂ€FDSSURDFKHVLVZKHUHZHFDQEHJLQWRSURJUHVVDSURMHFWZKLFK our reviewers can buy into. Considering all aspects of our presentation and the overall critique from our reviewers, we are very pleased with the outcome of our research and look forward to continue our study on the urban tissue structure we have created.
