2018 OC Lemon Law: A Mindful Step towards Preserving Justice OC Lemon Law was enacted to protect the rights of consumers who have purchased or leased a defective car or vehicle. When a car is under a manufacture’s original or certified Pre-Owned warranty and is not able to be fixed within a “ reasonable number” of attempts, a California consumer may be able to receive a replacement vehicle or get his/her money back. Unlike other states, California law does not require a set number of repair visits before an owner or lessee can file a claim. Additionally, in California arbitration of a lemon Law case is strictly voluntary. Consumers are not required to first submit their Lemon Law claims to arbitration.
