Sheynnis graduated with honors with a degree in Social Communication from the Universidad Centroamericana, obtaining her bachelor’s degree just months before the institution faced significant political challenges. Despite her uncertainty and social tensions, her determination and commitment to academic excellence led her to overcome obstacles and stand out as an exemplary student.

Inspired by a personal experience with anxiety, Sheynnis dedicated herself to promoting mental health through the “Understand Your Mind” initiative. Convinced of the importance of raising awareness and offering support to those facing emotional challenges, she created a platform dedicated to providing resources and guidance. Her leadership and dedication in this field made her a role model for those seeking to make a positive difference in her communities.

Miss Universe 2023 was the 72nd Miss Universe pageant, held in the capital city of El Salvador, San Salvador, on 18 November 2023. At the end of the event, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua was crowned as Miss Universe 2023 by R’Bonney Gabriel of the United States. 84 countries participated, including the United States.

As Miss Universe 2023, Sheynnis Palacios leaves a lasting legacy of hope. Her example and commitment to social change continue to inspire people to achieve their goals and pursue their dreams with courage and determination. Her legacy will live on as a powerful reminder that love and determination can overcome any obstacle, leading others to a brighter and more promising future.

OUR PUBLISHER’S CONVERSATION WITH MISS UNIVERSE

We had the opportunity to engage in a brief yet insightful one-on-one conversation with Sheynnis before her arrival in Houston, during which we posed three simple but significant questions. Here’s how it unfolded:

Martin - Thank you Sheynnis for taking the time to visit with us. As you may know, Houston is the fourth-largest city in the nation, and the most diverse. As Miss Universe, you have the privilege of traveling to numerous countries and experiencing their diverse cultures. In fact you just were a guest of honor at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. How do you incorporate and share elements of Nicaraguan culture during your international travels?

Sheynnis - Traveling as Miss Universe has given me the opportunity to be an ambassador of my Nicaraguan culture. In each country I visit, I take with me the richness of our traditions, music and gastronomy. I love sharing the history and spirit of our people, whether offering typical dishes like nacatamal, or simply talking about the warmth and hospitality of the Nicaraguan people. These elements not only allow me to connect with people from different cultures, but also highlight the beauty and diversity of my native country.

Martin - Reflecting on your journey and the lessons you’ve learned, what advice would you offer to women striving to achieve their goals?

Sheynnis - My advice to women pursuing their dreams is to never underestimate the power of determination and perseverance. Every challenge and obstacle you encounter along the way is an opportunity to learn and grow. Always keep your vision clear and your goals in mind, and don’t be afraid to ask for help and support when you need it. Surrounding yourself with positive and motivating people is crucial. And, above all, trust in yourself and your ability to achieve everything you set your mind to.

Martin - Sheynnis, at such a young age you have already learned, experienced and achieved a lot, including holding one of the most prestigious titles in the world. After crowning your successor at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico, what are your goals and plans for the future? How has your experience as Miss Universe influenced or changed your future aspirations?

Sheynnis - Winning the Miss Universe title has been a transformative and enriching experience. After crowning my successor, I plan to continue working on projects that promote the education and empowerment of women and girls around the world. Additionally, I want to focus on my communications career, taking advantage of the opportunities that this degree has given me to continue growing and learning in these industries. My experience as Miss Universe has taught me the importance of using my influence to make a positive and lasting impact, and that is something I will take with me to all my future aspirations.

ABOUT BEC WELLNESS FOUNDATION

Sheynnis Palacios was invited to Houston by the BEC Wellness Foundation, led by Saidy Maury. This is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering communities through fundraising, grant writing, and social services. Their mission focuses on promoting beauty, education, and social responsibility. For over seven years, they have been active in the Houston area, providing scholarships to outstanding women dedicated to community service.

BEC Wellness Foundation supports the Houston Food Bank, Women’s Foundations, and other organizations by collecting toys and assisting at events, bringing joy and resources to various non-profits, including churches. Through the iconic Houston events “Miss Belleza México USA” and “Miss Belleza Internacional Universo”, they celebrate beauty, talent, and social responsibility, establishing a beloved tradition in Houston.

FFrom the moment you step foot into Lombardi, you know you’re in for a special treat. The sleek and stylish designs, complimented by two beautiful olive trees in the center of the room, set the visual stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The tasteful décor and cozy lighting create an ambiance that is both inviting and chic, making your visit feel extraordinary.

Enhanced by a stunning open patio, Lombardi provides an additional opportunity for those who wish to savor a romantic outdoor setting.

But it is the food that truly steals the show at Lombardi. Each dish is a masterpiece in its own right, crafted with passion by the talented team of chefs led by Giyermo Miranda.

We started our culinary journey with a Mozzarella Caprese. This dish perfectly blends buffalo mozzarella, heirloom & cherry tomatoes, basil, and evoo.

Another appetizer that took us by surprise was the traditional Wagyu meatballs, slow-cooked in tomato sauce, gratin, grana padano cheese, and grilled sourdough.

Next, we were graced with the Astice & Avocado. This is a delicious Maine lobster, combined with avocado, garden greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, and white balsamic dressing.

Followed by the Polpo & Patate, marinated octopus and potatoes, taggiasche olives, garlic, and lemon aioli, we closed the first part of our tour.

Every bite was a symphony of flavors and visual effects, showcasing the freshest ingredients and expert culinary techniques.

As a good Italian, for the main course, I personally dove into the selection of homemade pasta dishes that will transport you straight to the streets of Italy.

We savored the indulgence of Taglioni & Tartufo, an irresistible concoction of Tagliarini pasta draped in a velvety butter sauce infused with the earthy essence of fresh truffle. Presented with flair, this dish emerges from a wheel of grana padano right at our table, elevating the dining experience to a realm of culinary enchantment. Its unique flavors and presentation alone were worth the journey to Lombardi, leaving an indelible mark in our memory.

The Ravioli Burro & Salvia featured a Meyer lemon cream sauce and pan-roasted red shrimp that was simply heavenly.

The Taglioni & Tartufo was another mesmerizing dance of rich flavors. The Tagliarini pasta, cooked “al dente”, paired with a creamy butter sauce, and garnished with fresh truffle, was served tableside in a grana padano wheel that elevated our enjoyment to another level.

The desserts are a fitting finale. We enjoyed the Limoncello, a citrus curd waiting to be discovered in a shell of white chocolate crunch, on a bed of white chocolate velvet cream, topped with sweet ricotta, toasted pistachios, and strawberries, which was a perfect dessert.

The Monte Cristo, a milk chocolate budino with toasted pecans, whiskey jelly, and a crispy “cigar” filled with tobacco caramel cream, was presented so uniquely that it became a show in itself. It provided the perfect grand finale for a remarkably ravishing experience.

The extensive, hand-picked selection of fine Italian and international wines offered the perfect pairing for every dish.

The bar takes center stage with its spectacular chandelier, complementing the elegant and cozy ambiance. The curated and artistically blended array of signature cocktails makes a perfect excuse to visit Lombardi.

As you may know, I value exceptional service just as much—if not more—than the quality of the food. Courteous and professional service significantly impacts my decision to return. At Lombardi, the service is unparalleled. The select team is both knowledgeable and attentive, enhancing the restaurant’s allure and solidifying my resolve to become a regular.

Lombardi Cucina Italiana definitely stands out as more than just a dining destination; it is a celebration of Italian culinary excellence, delivered with a modern touch of class, and elevating Houston.

This was an elevated experience we are ready to recommend to anyone serious about world-class cuisine. However, be forewarned: venturing to Lombardi comes with the risk of succumbing to addiction.

The Wagyu Akaushi Full Blood breed is a prized type of Japanese cattle known for its exceptional quality of beef. Akaushi, meaning “red cow” in Japanese, is one of the four native Japanese Wagyu breeds.

The Akaushi breed, also known as Japanese Red, originated in Japan and is highly regarded for its unique genetic traits. The breed was introduced to the United States in the early 1990s, where it has since been cultivated to maintain its pure bloodline.

The frustrations of ED COME TO AN END

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common condition that can affect men of all ages, though it becomes more prevalent with increasing age. However, it’s interesting to note that it’s happening more often on men as young as in their mid-30s.

While occasional difficulty getting or maintaining an erection is not necessarily a cause for concern, persistent problems with erectile function may require medical attention.

Trimix refers to a pharmaceutical compound used to help achieve and maintain erections.

It’s a combination of three medications: alprostadil, papaverine, and phentolamine. Each of these medications plays a role in improving blood flow to the penis, which is crucial for erectile function.

Here’s how they work:

Alprostadil: Alprostadil is a synthetic form of prostaglandin E1 (PGE1), a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps dilate blood vessels and improve blood flow. In the context of ED treatment, alprostadil works by relaxing smooth muscle tissue in the blood vessels of the male organ, allowing them to widen and increase blood flow. This increased blood flow contributes to achieving and maintaining an erection.

Papaverine: Papaverine is a vasodilator, meaning it relaxes and widens blood vessels. Similar to alprostadil, papaverine helps improve blood flow to the male organ by relaxing the smooth muscle tissue in the blood vessel walls. This dilation of blood vessels enhances the erectile response by facilitating increased

blood flow into the erectile tissues of the male sexual organ.

Phentolamine: is an alphaadrenergic blocker, which means it inhibits the action of certain neurotransmitters that cause blood vessels to constrict. By blocking these neurotransmitters, phentolamine helps to further relax and dilate blood vessels, promoting increased blood flow to the male sexual organ.

Trimix is typically administered via injection directly into the side of the penis, a method known as intracavernosal injection therapy (ICI). The precise combination and dosage of the three medications in Trimix can vary depending on factors such as the individual’s response to treatment, the severity of their ED, and any underlying health conditions.

While Trimix injections can be an effective treatment for ED, they require proper training for administration and carry some risks if not used correctly.
