As an architect with a keen interest in interior design, I have always been fascinated by the intersection of aesthetics, functionality, and human experience in the creation of spaces. Throughout my career, I have developed a strong skillset in project management and teamwork, which I believe are crucial for achieving successful outcomes in any project.

MÁRTIRES DE TACUBAYA 01

Location: Escandón, Mexico City

Type: Residential 2022

Understanding that the life of a building does not end in a limited period of time is essential, but seeing a greater value in it can be a challenge. For this project, we found a very clear style in construction, Art Deco, which was a guide to developing the concept for each area.

Three typologies were developed that are in line with the characteristics of each of the apartments. Each one varies in color and space, but in each one of them, adequate lighting and harmony are achieved. As it was an old building, the kitchens were completely enclosed in the center of the apartments, which is why we saw the need to open up the spaces, not only to the outside through windows but also to the inside to promote integral coexistence throughout the housing.

The central garden was a high priority since it is the largest source of light for each dwelling. For this, a dome was generated on the third level of the building, which protects against natural events as well as providing the cross ventilation needed to maintain the appropriate temperature for the project. This is the place where each apartment concept becomes one.

HOTEL CARLTON

Hospitality with mixed-use

Location: Colonia Tabacalera, Mexico City

Type: Hospitality

2021

The Tabacalera neighborhood, once known for its large number of union buildings, law offices, and illicit businesses, is finally seeing a change in its context. Since the renovation of the Monument to the Revolution and the Plaza de la República in 2010, the neighborhood has shown that it is ready for a change in its urbanism and, with this, a complete turnaround in the quality of life of its inhabitants.

Despite having a significant weight in the history of Mexico City, numerous activities includind drug dealing and prostitution have weakened its community life and turned Tabacalera into a zone of floating population.

At the urban level, this translates into a large number of abandoned and poorly maintained residential homes and small apartment buildings, and an immense number of short-stay motels.

One block from the area of greatest insecurity is the Hotel Carlton, an iconic building in Tabacalera. This building has become a victim of neglect and is the only public space in the area besides the Plaza de la República. The quadrant has fully respected the human scale, and all the buildings around it, despite being in poor condition, appear to be completely connected to the Tabacalera Garden. For this reason, the first step in the conversion of the building is to rethink the functioning of the ground floor to make it a permeable volume of passage that becomes a destination. In this way, an urban landmark can be revived and transformed into a tourist destination that lights up its surroundings and returns to the neighborhood the quality of life it once had

PUNTA HORIZONTE

Residential

Location: Bosque Real, State of Mexico

Type: Residential Apartment 2023

In order for an apartment to last a lifetime, trends and fads must be set aside. It is essential to achieve a balance between classic and modern to make a space transcend. In this project, only completely timeless styles were used. Together, the same language can be seen in all spaces, when in reality, each one tells a different story through the incorporation of elements from different eras and styles.

For the kitchen, we incorporated a very classic style with modern elements that provide lighting and spaciousness to the space. The light tones with the influence of green and its brass details generate an unexpected harmony and are ideal for the area to be used at any time of the day.

On the other hand, the main challenge for the dining and social area was to give a second life to the furniture and decoration collection that already belonged to the family. To do this, we started with a change in the lighting and color scheme of the space. In addition to this, we included some new elements that, together with the rearrangement of existing pieces, resulted in a harmonious and timeless ensemble.

LAS MISIONES 04

Residential

Location: Monterrey, Nuevo Leon

Type: Residential House 2022

Intricate ornaments, gold accents, and lavish furniture are just some of the elements that complete the French Rococo style. This house is proof that each client identifies with a different style, and as architects, we are here to translate their vision into spaces. The house is located in the outskirts of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, and is surrounded by mountains that offer great views and excellent privacy.

Inside the house, the sense of luxury can be experienced through ornate moldings combined with high-end Italian furniture. Each room is meticulously designed with attention to detail. Some rooms maintain the French style at its highest with light shades of color on the walls and golden moldings, while others, such as the game room, use darker colors and modern elements to create movement in the house. As one can see, each room tells a unique story through luxurious elements and carefully curated furniture.

AS PRAIAS 05 Memorial

Location: Lisbon, Portugal

Type: Memorial for Contest ArchxSite 2018

The memorial is located in an underground corridor that guides walkers through three different beaches. The 1755 earthquake had a great impact on the history of Lisbon, and was an example of how a community can recover after a catastrophic disaster.

"As Praias" commemorates the different stages that were experienced before, during and after the earthquake. The forms generated in this proposal represent the tectonic plates and their movement during this earthquake.

The first space consists of a water mirror with basaltic stone on the bottom, which commemorates the importance of ancient tradition in Lisbon.

The central space encloses the visitor with a rusted steel wall that blocks the view towards the beach and intensifies the senses. This allows the visitor to experience what was felt during the earthquake.

The final stage opens up to a corridor that connects to the beach, representing the ability of the inhabitants of Lisbon to overcome the disaster and maintain hope.
