How Can You Help Prevent a Sewer Line Backup?
• Do not pour grease or cooking oil down the drain. Instead scrape out or pour cooking oil and grease into a container or plastic bag and dispose of it in your kitchen garbage.
• Kitchen garburators increase the amount of organic material in the service lines. Depending on the condition of the service line, organic material can stick to the lines and over time cause blockages. Compost your organic material instead.

“It is a great option outside of your standard dog park for people and their dogs because it is fully fenced, and in a controlled environment where you don’t need to worry about the same concerns that come with a dog park. My dogs are friendly, but I don’t like taking them to the dog park because you never know who you are going to meet, but here, you don’t have to worry about that,” Camp Director Kaitlyn Bilyk, stated.

According to Dr. Allison Adamus of Martensville Collective Health and Wellness, the current system that is in place when it comes to family medicine is broken; however, she remains hopeful that there is a solution – it just requires the right people in place to do that.
According to information released by Saskatoon Police Service, an investigation into the drug trafficking activities of a 37-year-old Saskatoon male by members of the Saskatoon Crime Reduction Team resulted in the arrest of three individuals.
Results also showed that more than half of physicians and medical learners (53%) are experiencing high levels of burn-out and 49% were considering reducing their clinical work within the next two years.

In May of 2022, a statement released by Dr. Katherine Smart, Past President of the Canadian Medical Association stated that in 2019, there were approximately 4.6 million Canadians that were without access to a primary care provider. Additionally, there are emergency departments across the country that are closing due to the staff shortages they are facing. The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) noted that despite the challenges that came with Covid, the issues creating today’s healthcare crisis were in place long before the pandemic.

“We are seeing too many doctors leaving, and not enough are coming in. The number of applicants for Family Medicine are dramatically declining year after year, so where needs are increasing, we are seeing a large number of doctors retiring, less coming in and it is creating a major hole in our tank. Those new doctors that are coming in are choosing to work in other systems because they don’t want to work in a system that is broken – they don’t want to end up like us,” Dr. Adamus stated.
“There is a concerning supply and demand gap developing. In December 2021, 2,400 family physician positions were advertised on government recruitment websites across Canada. In 2020, however, just over 1,400 family physicians exited the post graduate training system to enter practice. This trend isn’t new. In the sixyear period between 2015 and 2021, the percentage of medical graduates choosing family medicine fell from 38.5% to 31.8%,” Smart explained.

Camp Paws Republic is Truly ‘For the Dogs’
“Every day we hear physicians expressing despair at the state of our health system, the strain that all health workers are facing and the fact that our patients are suffering. Since this survey was completed, the strain on health workers has continued to grow with no signs of a break coming. Physicians need help and support so they can continue to provide quality care to patients,” CMA President Dr. Alika Lafontaine explained.
In August of this year, the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) released results from their 2021 National Physician Health Survey which showed that physicians are struggling in the under-resourced healthcare system and the effects of the pandemic. Nearly half of survey respondents (48%) screened positive for depression, which is an increase from 33% in 2017.

Grieving for Victims of James Smith Cree Nation
Forworld.conservatives and everyone else, this is always a wise thing to do.
Whether it the social change that forces us to confront past prejudices and racism ingrained in our culture and history or confronting the realities of a changing world, we’ve been reminded of late that change is as difficult as it is inevitable.
Saskatchewan is in mourning. The last few weeks have been a very difficult time for our province as we continue to cope with two heart breaking events.
This doesn’t explain everything about today’s politics, but it does at least help us partly understand today’s political upheaval and why it can be difficult for conservatives. The world is undergoing economic, environmental social and political change that’s happening at a rate faster than most of us can process.
Passing of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
The strength Her Majesty spoke about with conviction, is what will guide our province through the pain of losing ten community members. Healing will take time but as we mourn together as a province, we will draw on our collective strength. Saskatchewan was built by community spirit, neighbour helping neighbour, friends and family supporting one another through the good times and bad.
Reaction to social change, environmental policy and even democratic political result some didn’t like has often been anything but conservative. This is challenge facing today’s conservatives remains holding on to those values while still accepting the inevitability of change.
Some of it has to do with the rapid rise in technologies in the past few decades that have resulted in everything from today’s instant internet and social media communication to advances in science that provided us with vaccine to fight the coronavirus. Remember how no one imagined we could get a vaccine this quickly when COVID-19 first hit?
Additional age groups will be eligible to receive the bivalent vaccine as supply is received by the province. Any program expansion will be announced publicly and is anticipated in early October.
During the past four days, Prince Philip and I have caught glimpses of your ancestors' dreams that have been brought to life, not by accident but through determination, perseverance and hard work. Whether in rural settings, towns or cities, we have met citizens of Saskatchewan, of many diverse backgrounds, who are united in their desire to continue to build a society that will remain the envy of the world.
One gets why this part of Canada would be more “conservative” than maybe other parts. The very definition of the word conservative is to be traditionalist, conventional and want things to stay as they are - to look for stability. It’s why we all tend to get more “conservative” as we get older. Some hate to admit it, but we all have at least a little conservativism in us.
Our very livelihood revolves around agriculture and non-renewable resources and while there is absolutely no doubt these industries have required constant change and technical innovation, they are based on the stable notion the resources will always be there to be harvested.
Moreover, to demand everything change all the time is simply exhausting … not to mention more than a little unstable. This definition may also explain why so many people in this part of the world define themselves as “conservatives.”
Changing World Challenges Political Views
Letter to the Editor
We have constantly been reminded that here in Western Canada, peoples from around the world have come together to add their own richness to the vast, colourful tapestry that is only matched by the size and beauty of the country itself. The spirit of nation building here in Saskatchewan and Canada truly falls on fertile soil. With this spirit the promise of the future is boundless.”
COVID-19's Omicron variants are transmitting in the province. Receiving all doses you are eligible for improves your protection against serious illness. Book your dose or find a walk-in clinic near you.
Even the recent death of Queen Elizabeth II; the longest reigning British monarch on the throne for 70 years; is a reminder that people and the institutions are not with us
Multis e gentibus vires – From Many Peoples Strength.
Bivalent COVID-19 Vaccine Availability Expanding September 19
As of Monday, September 19, the Moderna bivalent booster dose will be available at Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) vaccination clinics and through participating pharmacies to:
“Such service to others reflects so much of what your grandparents and great grandparents dreamed of when Saskatchewan first became a province of the Dominion of Canada in 1905. These men and women did not simply hope for a brighter future; they devoted every day to achieving their vision, not so much for themselves but for their children, and their grandchildren — for everyone.
We are also mourning the loss of Her late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the Second. Just days before, Her Majesty sent condolences to the province, Weldon and the James Smith Cree Nation, sending thoughts and prayers to those recovering and those grieving such a horrific loss. Queen Elizabeth closed by saying she mourns with all Canadians during this tragic time.
The news of Her Majesty’s passing has evoked strong memories of past visits to Saskatchewan. In 2005, Saskatchewan celebrated our centennial and was excited to host Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. During that appearance, Her Majesty spoke to revellers and reminded our province of our duty to each other.
There will be oil and potash in the ground that people want. We will see the consistency of a fall harvest followed by a winter in which to we and the land will recover for planting in the spring.
It reminds us that there can be a lot of good in this upheaval. It also reminds us that some things that are not-so-good like all the false information on this pandemic that became rather dangerous. None of us enjoyed contending with a worldwide virus that’s killed millions or climate change that threatens our livelihoods and perhaps even our longer-term existence, but perhaps even more dangerous is some of the politics in Canada and the U.S. has accompanied this change; resistance to this change that created its own upheaval and that’s led to unlawful acts and even violence in both the U.S. and Canada.
The pain is very real, and the questions are limitless. We are proud of the strength that you have shown and the ability to come together as a community. We will support those recovering and remember the victims, our neighbours, brothers, sisters, parents and grandparents taken too soon.
It is recommended that eligible populations receive the Moderna bivalent booster dose at least four months following their last COVID-19 vaccination. This bivalent booster can only be used as a booster and not as the first or second dose in a primary vaccination series. Individuals need to have completed at least two primary doses to receive this booster. If you have had COVID-19, you can receive any booster dose once you have recovered.Whenbooking your booster appointments at an SHA clinic, you are not required to specify which COVID-19 vaccine you wish to receive. The option will be provided to eligible individuals in the clinic at the time of vaccination, starting Monday.
The above is not an attempt to condemn anyone’s political beliefs or values and it surely isn’t a suggestion anyone need change what they believe or feel, but as we emerge from the tensions of recent years, maybe now is as good a time for all of us to take stock of our own beliefs and see how they best fit this everchanging
Get Up-to-Date with Your COVID-19 Vaccine
All Saskatchewan residents age six months and older can receive a COVID-19 vaccine, and the majority of the population is eligible for booster doses.
