Royals Advance to Championship After Hard-Fought Semi-Final Win Over North Battleford
Submitted by Coach Tyler Munday
In a thrilling league semi-final, the Royals overcame a slow start and showcased their resilience, defeating North Battleford 28-7. The game began with strong defensive performances from both teams, but the Royals found themselves trailing early after a series of interceptions led to a score for North Battleford.
However, the Royals quickly rebounded. Austin Adamus scored on a 3-yard touchdown run, followed shortly by a 19-yard touchdown pass from Garrett Gordon to Cam Kliewer. By halftime, the Royals held a 14-7 lead.
The second half saw the Royals’ defense shine, making crucial goal-line stands to keep North Battleford at bay. Aidan Low’s impressive punt return set up another scoring opportunity, and quarterback Hawkley Dereniwski connected with Cooper Ogden for a 4-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Adamus capped off the victory with a spectacular 39-yard touchdown run.
With this win, the Royals are set to face the undefeated Carlton Crusaders in the NSFL championship game this Saturday at 1:00 PM in Prince Albert, looking to continue their strong playoff run.

CELEBRATING SMALL BUSINESS WEEK
Statement From Prime Minister Trudeau on Small Business Week
Small Business Week runs from October 20 to 26 in Canada and is held each year to celebrate more than a million small and medium-sized businesses across the country.
“Small businesses create jobs, grow our economy, and make Canada stronger. We’re making sure they have the supports they need to succeed.,” Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, said in a statement shared on October 20th.
“We enhanced the Canada Small Business Financing Program to help them scale-up. We’re delivering over $2.5 billion to an estimated 600,000 Canadian businesses through the new Canada Carbon Rebate for Small Businesses. As of yesterday, some credit card fees have been reduced by up to 27 per cent – saving small businesses $1 billion over the next five years. With initiatives like the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy, the Black Entrepreneurship Program, the Indigenous Growth Fund, and the 2SLGBTQI+ Entrepreneurship Program, we’re growing an inclusive and innovative small business economy. In short, we’re reducing fees for small businesses, putting more money in their pockets, and making sure more entrepreneurs can start their business sooner. And there’s a lot more work to be done.
“From local cafés to independent bookstores, small businesses represent the limitless potential of Canada. They might be called small businesses, but they’re anything but small. To the owners, entrepreneurs, and workers behind them: Thank you.
“This week, we’re celebrating you and your hard work.”

Moe Makes Stop in Martensville to Kick Off Election Week
Saskatchewan Party Leader Scott Moe made a stop along the campaign trail in Martensville on Monday, October 21st. Terry Jenson, the Sask Party representative for the Warman constituency and Jamie Martens, the Sask Party representative for the Martensville-Blairmore constituency, who’s office the stop was hosted in, were also in attendance with Moe.
Moe began by speaking on several of the primary objectives of the Sask Party, noting that “Almost three-quarters of the Saskatchewan Party’s commitments are tax reductions or credits, which means that you’ll have more of your own money that would be left in your own pocket.”
The Sask Party Leader encouraged residents of Saskatchewan to get out and vote, reminding them that there is an advantage of voting early, following a torrential rain and flooding on the British Columbia election day, which likely prevented many people from casting their votes. Moe also reminded residents that every vote counts.
“We want to ensure that this great province has a brighter future, and we want to be able to implement the plan that we have put out before you to keep Saskatchewan the most affordable place in the nation of Canada to live.”
Media in attendance questioned Moe on several topics, including how the Sask Party will be addressing Indigenous issues this election, as well as regarding the announcement that was made the previous week regarding the Sask Party’s changeroom policies that would be put into place in Saskatchewan classrooms.
Election week will take place from October 22nd-October 26th, with the final day for voting on Monday, October 28th. See page 2 for more information on where you can vote in Martensville, and who your candidates are for the Martensville-Blairmore constituency.
