A set of quirky stories from my equally quirky life.My birth certificate claims I'm "Edwrd" but that's way too formal for an old man who draws cartoons, and "Edde"is a four year olds name. So that leaves me with "Ed"and I'm good with it. A couple of people tried to enhance it by calling me "BigEd"but that doesn't exactly fit a 175 pound introvert who writes about the joy of screwing up simple tasks. I've never encouraged the likes of Butch, or Bud or Skip or Junior or Sir. These nicknames are for heroes and tough guys.Seriously, I was born before the American entrance into World War II. I came of age surrounded by farmers in a rural community in the mid 1950's. We made our own fun from what was available, we worked hard and played hard. Proper people raised their eyebrows at our antics but common folks just smiled and went about their business. I was the mildest mannered kid in the neighborhood but I never considered leaving the gang. After high school graduation I was an Art Education major at Buffalo State college, taught school for two and a half years but left a draft deferred job and joined the Navy in the middle of the Vietnam war. I served as both an enlisted man and as a commissioned naval officer. Linda and I married in May of 1974. We have three adult children and nine grand-children. Linda died of cancer in October of 2021. I ran various programs for Tioga County, NY for just shy of thirty-five years.I write and draw for fun. I played
