New cricket training centre at Jubilee Park Jubilee Park will soon be home to a new five-lane, state-of-theart, multi-sport indoor cricket training centre. Members of the sporting community were delighted at the announcement of the training centre, to be constructed at Jubilee Park in Ringwood. Minister for Community Sport the Hon. Ros Spence visited the site on Tuesday 1 March to announce $2.9 million funding towards the $4.1 million facility. Council will add a further $1.2 million to the indoor cricket training centre project, which will ensure that the new facility is first-class and a great addition for sport in Maroondah; solidifying its place as a regional cricket hub in the East. Following the completion of the new RO Spencer Pavilion (stage 1), the training centre is stage 2 of Jubilee Park’s enhancement plan, and will connect to the new RO Spencer Pavilion. This accessible, five-lane indoor cricket training facility will also enable multisport and recreation capabilities to come to life.

Volunteers wanted: Kerrabee Centre Are you outgoing, caring and love meeting people from all walks of life? Kerrabee Centre needs you! Kerrabee in Croydon has been running social inclusion and wellbeing programs for over 25 years. The sessions assist residents that are frail/aged, have a disability or are socially isolated to remain independent, receive support and continue to participate in the community. Kerrabee has a range of activities including weekly shopping and library trips; online and in-person social groups; monthly outings; craft; and guest speakers.

To support Kerrabee’s programs and activities, they are in need of passionate and caring volunteers.

Retired Engineer, John, says the best part about volunteering at Kerrabee is spending time with the members.

Most importantly, Kerrabee is looking for volunteers who are prepared to drive a 12-seater bus for the shopping trips and monthly outings.

“The social interaction with the guys and being able to still be involved in areas I’m passionate about is what I love most about Kerrabee,” John said.

Bus volunteers must have a car driver’s licence, with training on how to drive the bus provided.

Volunteer applications are also welcome to help maintain Kerrabee’s fast-growing garden. To become a volunteer, visit the Volunteering webpage on Council’s website.
