Technology has been a huge outlet in the development and formation of this trend. People see and feel this fantasy of a “forbidden island� in movies, music, social media; and this serves as a source of inspiration for designers and modern day artists.

Music: Salsa music has influenced the concepts presented in this particular trend. A brief history: salsa music represents a combination of latin music; primarily composed of Cuban dance music.

Salsa Music has bled into other subgenres, incorporating sounds found in hip-hop and other forms of modern dance music.

Examples include: Marc Anthony (top selling tropical salsa artist of all time), Joe Arroyo (Columbian in his roots, considered one of the greatest Caribbean artists of all time) Modern Artists: Shakira, Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias
