A draft of this document was originally printed and circulated during the

“GLOOPTOPIA” tour. A performance art Extravaganza investigating political hope. Commissioned by the Marlborough theatre in partnership with Unlimited.

It would not be possible to be here or indeed even sane without the success of that tour in March this year. In the penultimate moment of the final showing of the show; The gorgon, (who shares a story of commucratic life) gives the audience the gift of her face. Or rather “the last thing you will ever see!” & Corona Virus promptly fulfilled that prophetic moment.

COMMUCRACY. To date it has never existed and no one knows

what it is. Thus we cannot demand it of any existing structure & must be the architects of its fulfilment.

WHY? I cannot live with ethics, dignity and freedom whilst my fellow Earthling starves in the street. Warning, of what will happen to me, should I fail to follow the consensus of capital. We cannot live freely, ethically or with dignity when this dispossession is part and parcel of our participation.

In a world where a prison-industrial complex of a global colonial attempt is driving mass exodus on the daily; to service 8 or 18 billionaires.1 People who have had earth given to them, telling us our fortunes are tied to their fortunes for which we must work or die.

A world where every resistance folds once more back into the integrated spectacle where the medium of money rules what it should serve. A world where to challenge my exploitation I must first become complicit in it, until I can no longer recognise what my liberation might be. A world in which my liberation is a drug experience, fleeting, momental, euphoric and gone; consigned to youth.

COMMUCRACY IS THE CUP FROM WHICH WE CAN ALL DRINK COMMUCRACY IS A NEW SYSTEM OF GOVERNANCE THAT FACILITATES DEMOCRATIC ACCESS TO THE MICRO AND MACRO PRODUCTIVE FORCES OF OUR LIVES.

COMMUCRACY IS COMMUNIST DEMOCRACY.

Democracy is to be ruled by a system in which you partake in ruling.

Communism is an integrated mode of production that profits the people and not:

To ensure individual autonomy within collectivised living.

COMMUCRACY Is not Communism

Communism is concurrent with Autocratic Stalinist Regimes and the Gulag. The dictatorship of the proletariat simply turned into a dictatorship.2 Thus could not manifest the international solidarity in those places ruled by the dictatorship of the Bourgeoisie.

However Commucracy fully accepts the Communist Hypothesis; that the inequality of wealth, due to a subordination of labour to a certain class. Which produces massive personal fortunes that are then passed on by inheritance, that then maintains that class. In a binary of haves and have nots. That this misappropriation of collective wealth to private gain is not inevitable and can change. AND THAT an equitable societal form is possible, practicable and this new collective living a potential worth pursuing.

However other than this Communism is a vague allusion to a post political position. Whilst Commucracy is always aware of the inherently politic process that accompanies the promise of our potential. Communism is the promise of a place whilst Commucracy is a place of process.

COMMUCRACY Is not Democracy

Democracy is concurrent with non-economic Parliamentary institutions. As soon as you house politics, you evict it. Politics is happening at every point and juncture of our lives. Economics as a separate sphere simply appeases the current dominant class subordinating labour. The Bourgeoisie. Who can buy and sell governments, specifically those who can access the Newscorp propaganda machine.

Commucracy knows every aspect of life has a political process around which we need a praxis of inclusion, exclusion, accountability and appeal. Like, I really don’t want to be involved in meetings about municipal plumbing, nor should I, but if those responsible fall short they should be held accountable and if a decision I did not take part in should affect me negatively in some unforeseen way I should be able to appeal.

Because of these failures, the B.L.A (Basic Level of Alienation) is predicated in commucracys’ foundation.

The BLA entitles one to a basic income so as to be able to lead a basic life unencumbered by welfare office discipline.

Enough for groceries, hobbies, socialising etc. One may work as part of a collective and receive basic assets3 from that collective. But if you’re not feeling it, you can tell anyone, family, colleagues or lover to fuck off and have something to bank on.

The BLA entitles one to a social housing. Similar to council housing in the uk, only actually maintained, one applies to a social register and is granted housing in an appropriate area. If you need to leave that area, you transfer or exchange.

Finally the BLA entitles one to Free Healthcare. Get your Dentistry, Hormones, sick note or whatever you need, for free, then go live your life.

The BLA manifests as Basic Income, Social Housing and Free Healthcare, but it is more than that. The BLA is a sublimated

notion of equity, that is the simple partition of being born into a society requires no obligation for a sustained participation within that society. But equally that society serves to provide the possibility of your participation.

That every person born can access a base level of abundant resources to ensure their autonomy and freedom from collective repression. Or conversely, that they can choose communal participation.

It’s that ones bodily barrier is able to pass frictionless through society, unless they have chose to become sticky with social relations. Homophobia, Sexism, Racism and Transphobia, are all in

violation of the BLA. Any act of invasive discrimination or social stonewalling is. Equally, it’s there to ensure should you receive any such prejudice, it shouldn’t really matter too much. Obviously they’re a dick, but aren’t experiencing personal prejudice compounded by systemic discrimination. Not every situation will be able to accommodate every need all the time; but in the system there will be access to a social collective that can. Further an accountability, appeal and protest potential if there isn’t.

We can tell each other to fuck off, but it’s unlikely we have enough to do with each other. Everyone can feign politeness long enough to get to a place where they can really let loose.

Despite being an essential component in the imagination of our current emancipation UBI fundamentally maintains the wage structure system of our society; which is why it’s so agreeable to Elon Musk et al. who can see the inequalities of capital accumulation is about to kill off all their potential consumers. Basic Assets is elaborated at length on google if u just type it in!

COMMUCRACY is the Bastard Child of Communism and Democracy.

With the strengths of both and the sins of neither.

It is a direct response to a certain void within the left, not to fulfil that void; but to formalise it. The void being a space of freedom.

Commucracy in that sense is a skull, a structured space of play, imagination and possibility.

Allow me to contextualise; “Many central concepts of our political vocabulary, including communism as well as democracy and freedom, have been so corrupted that they are almost unusable. In standard usage, in fact, communism has come to mean its opposite, that is, total state control of economic and social life. We could abandon these terms and invent new ones, of course, but we would leave behind too the long history of struggles, dreams and aspirations that are tied to them. I think it is better to fight over the concepts themselves in order to restore or renew their meaning.”

The commucrat refuses this dichotomy between abandonment and invention. To restore and renew these terms is to necessarily reinvent them; and in doing so bring that history with us.

Baptised anew. We cannot be confined or consigned to debating this shit. Of being forced to react time and again to atrocities that had nothing to do with us and are used to decry any attempts to move beyond the atrocities of contemporary capital.

COMMUCRACY IS NOT Democratic Socialism.

Democratic Socialism being the name of a 20th century movement to that set out to achieve socialism through liberal democracy. Primarily by providing workers with rights and welfare.

This was to appease leftist factions of capitalist nations so trade unions would not organise a violent revolution in allegiance with a global socialist system. Since the fall of the U.S.S.R and a global alternative we have seen an erosion of all the social equalities brought about by democratic socialism. Specifically since the 2008 financial crisis. Where we were told, repeatedly “THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE” to a bailing out the banks and austerity measures. The bailout of the British Banking System in 2008 was £500,000,000,000. Five hundred billion pounds, all for nothing more, than to produce confidence in markets.

CONFIDENCE.

CONFIDENCE IN MARKETS THAT HAVE JUST PROVEN THEIR WOEFUL INEPTITUDE. THAT PUNISHED NO BOSSES. THAT DEEMED THIS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY NO CRIME.

This is testament to our lost imagination. There have deaths, dispossessions, repossessions, suffering and systemic starvation of the working classes because of this loss of imagination. A suffering, no one, effectively, gives a shit or does anything about or because theres no one there to make them.

DEMANDING EQUALITY FROM A FORMATION THAT INTRINSICALLY GENERATES ITS OPPOSITE is dumb.

Sadly though, I would not be even remotely able to of typed this without these manoeuvres. So, COMMUCRACY, can and should seek to engage in existing structures of power, to protest them, hold them accountable, infiltrate them and reset their agenda.4 4

Or rather, sometimes, we just have to do dumb things! ^_^ 8

BUT FUNDAMENTALLY COMMUCRACY SHOULD seek to break away and establish its own systems, collectives, narratives and rituals.

We possess first The Body. The primary means of production.

My autonomy, my space, my time.

Then we bring these together to effectively seize

THE MEANS OF SIGNIFICATION

This means seizing the symbol sets that secure our social reality.

Our aesthetics, our sounds, our stories, parades and commonality.

We come together to produce solidarity, imagination, recognition, oceans of emotion, power, security and confidence. This is hoaw we shall summon a set of soviets for such a time as ours!

WE SHOULD NOT STOP CELEBRATING EACH OTHER UNTIL WE HAVE PRODUCED FIVE, HUNDRED, BILLION POUNDS

COMMUCRACY AND THE KITCHEN CONTEXT AND COMPROMISE

***Imagine, we have broken away from society and established a commucratic commune, congratulations!***

But now we must organise our meals together….

THE MEAL IS THE COMMON

IT’S CONSUMPTION, IT’S COOKING and IT’S CLEAN UP. So primarily we have consumers and cooks. Then clean up!

No one knows better what to eat than those who eat.

No one knows better what to cook than those who cook.

Those who cook may say pasta carbonara is the best this to cook given what is in the kitchen now, it’s delicious, the ingredients are abundant, but going out of date soon, it’s obvious! BUT those who eat may agree, or disagree, as vegans, as vegetarians, as lactose intolerant meat eaters etc.

How to resolve this? Direct democracy and detailed debate? No! Too many cooks spoil the broth! And frankly sounds exhausting.

Each group should elect an accountable representative, so the two of them can meet, ham it out simply, efficiently and strategically with minimal waste and discomfort. So I tell my representative my preferences one time, and they make sure the menu meets my needs every meal. Some weeks it’s bounteous, other weeks it’s pasta and salad. Based on the CONTEXT we understand how to COMPROMISE, and see our representive if this context is too compromising.

I can then go back to working in the costume department!

Whilst the kitchen is populated by the people with the passion for it! It runs smoothly; the more mundane duties get done on a rota basis! When we party this Saturday everyone has sick threads to wear from said Costume Department! Tailor made so we may all revel in the delightful specialisation of labour modern society is predicated with equity.

Engineered with egalitarian principles. Not becoming god foresaken beetle people grubbing in dirt to avoid ANY hierarchies.

At least not all the time!

NOTE THOUGH: This compassionate compromise is predicated by rote of being on a commucratic commune. In which we’ve Or mobilised a praxis of inclusion, exclusion, accountability and appeal.

Then we come to Clean-Up! The collision of the previous contradictions! Is clean up one task? Or is the clean up of the kitchen and the consumption separate? This is a question for the commucrats in that context to answer. But again we should apply this four metrics; who should be included? Who should be excluded. I.e. it may be a bad idea having non-cooks cleaning the kitchen.

Strategically speaking revolutionary fervour, whilst fun and necessary to stir the great spirit with exhilaration, ultimately sits within ones own frothing vision. This is amazing and necessary in flights of fancy and artistic ordeals. In which we craft and imagine new mythologies, letting us quilt functioning ideologies.

But for Commucracy to be an economy of government that can function to guide revolution, resistance, reformation (urgh.) Establishment of a new order and fictions fit to inspire us to reach that order it will also require somewhat more staking out.

We require ambitious theory both within & beyond our experience; that which is, cannot continue- but what is to come, comes from what we do now, here & in this moment.

SO YOU’VE DECIDED TO ELECT A REPRESENTITVE AMAZING! HOW?

Democracy is not a dick measuring contest when 51 votes beats 49, unless you’re using an egoistic derivative of Democracy designed to promoted an inegalitarian process that illegitimately manufactures electoral mandate through misconstruction of “mass” approval. 37% of the population voted for BREXIT, in a highly contentious campaign of misinformation, funding violations, national inexperience with referendums and thus fostering inappropriate electorate decorum.

WE ARE LIVING IN THE POLITICAL EQUIVALENT OF THE THUNDERDOME WITH NO TINA TURNER!

13.9 million people, or 1 in 6 members of the uk population voted for the current government that has a functional majority.

This is because a first past the post system of voting is deployed.

This uses constituent boundaries, of unequal voter potentials to ensure that it is not the lowest common denominator that votes; but the most pervasive prejudice makes the vote. Like the North American electoral college.

This is a demography subsumed to a geomocracy.

It is a system that makes sure the nation and not the population makes the vote. An ethnic-miliatry-myth fantasies the boarders of collectivity, projecting them in on the citizenry even as the west projects weapons out on other citizens in the name of the self same democracy it denies the truth of.

Contemporary democracy traces it’s roots to the French revolution. Used by merchants to displace the monarchy. The power of the people against the divine right to rule. That “We, the people!” Was very much about certain persons taking the reins from the kings of old. Which we see now, still, transnational companies treat boarders that bisect bodies as barbed wire bangles in its’ boom & bust cha cha of crisis capital. By controlling the number involved in a decision individual influence can run at maximal potential. Companies lavish in tax breaks, purchase candidates and spawn corruption under the maxim “one man, one vote” 12
