The ancient philosopher, Confucius, once said that “when there is happiness in a family there will be contentment in the community and prosperity in the na on. And when there is prosperity there will be peace throughout the world”. If this be true, and I think it is, when we reexamine our family rela onships, we will be looking at the roots of most other human problems. We will be dealing with the ul mate causes of crime, delinquency and addic on, emo onal and mental illness. We will be dealing with the“quiet despera on” in which so many human beings spend the days of their lives. It is almost a cliché that the scripts of our lives are wri en by our family rela onships. Of course, different individuals within the same family choose or have different roles, and they hear differently what is said in the family structure. S ll, allowing a large margin for

human freedom, our lives are shaped by family interac on. The individual life goes pre y much as the family goes. When the Lord asks us to love one another with the same uncondi onal love with which he loves us, I am sure he envisioned this charity as beginning at home and in the family. The Lord who asks us to “honor our mothers and our fathers,” who asks us not to bring our gi s to his altar un l we have se led our family grudges, certainly foresaw what Confucius echoed: Peace within the family will mean peace throughout the world. Love has become the Holy Grail of our me. People want more of it, suffer from lack of it and search for it all their lives. Healthy marriages have a sense of “remaining.” The husband remains in the wife, and she remains in him. There is tenderness, an honesty, an ongoing communica on. 17

We o en see how the need simply to be loved with understanding manifests itself in married couples. The wife starts to tell the husband of the day's issues. The la er will come across as quite chauvinis c in today's mes. A er a minute he interrupts and tells her what to do about them, because he's geared up to be a problem solver. But she's very unhappy, because she doesn't want his advice. She wants fi een minutes of his undivided a en on. She wants valida on that her problems are as important to him as they are to her. And if he would just hold s ll and listen for those fi een minutes, she would get the message that he cares about her. People can do this for one another; can love one another with understanding. All around us we see many people whose lives are not as fulfilling as they might be, simply because t h e s e p e o p l e a re to o i nvo l ve d w i t h themselves. The society puts too much emphasis on finding someone who will love you; our culture focuses too much on being loved and not enough on being a loving person. It's much easier to be a loving person, to give away love. This ability is something you can have control over. None of us has the power to make someone love us. But we all have the 18

power to give away love, to love other people. And if we do so, we change the kind of person we are, and we change the kind of world we live in. This a tude is what works in all the marriages. The essence of marital love, is not romance, but forgiveness – accep ng each other's' imperfec ons, understanding the other person along with all their quirks that would usually drive one crazy but for the love between them. Some years ago I read a wonderful newspaper column. A woman sees two children in a playground get into a fight. One of them says, “I hate you, I never want to play with you again.” For two or three minutes they play separately, and then they come back and start playing with each other again. The observer says to a woman si ng next to her, “How do children do that? Be so angry one moment and together the next?” and the neighbor says, “Oh, it's easy. They choose happiness over righteousness.” Choosing happiness over righteousness, even if you are right, doesn't demand recogni on of the fact. Sacrifice the victory for the sake of a happy marriage or rela onship. In a marriage there are no winners and losers, only two people who a g re e t o p u t u p w i t h e a c h o t h e r – exaspera ng as that may be.

Yet how o en we forget about love! Love begins by recognizing what most deeply fulfills us is not what we have or what we do, but the state of our heart. The Indian mys c poet Kabir wrote: “Are you looking for Me,? I am in the next seat. My shoulder is against yours.” Here he speaks of our longing for the beloved. Our heart is very near, yet in modern life a remarkable swoon comes over us in the complexity and busyness of our me, and we forget what ma ers most. We think we have me, but no one knows for sure how much me he or she really has. If you have the privilege of being at the bedside of someone having a conscious death, the ques ons asked at the end of his or her life are very simple ones: “Did I love well? Did I love the people around me, my community, the earth, in a deep way?” and perhaps, “Did I live fully? Did I offer myself to life? For many of us, our loss of innocence and connec on began years ago in our childhood, when they became buried to allow us to survive our schools, families, religion and, culture. And so part of the art of living from the heart is reclaiming this childlike capacity to listen to our heart. The famous American painter, James McNeill Whistler a ended

West Point Military Academy in the 1850s. The instructor asked all students in his engineering class to draw a model of a bridge. Whistler drew a beau ful stone arched bridge, completed with two young boys fishing from it. The lieutenant, very angrily said, “This is a military exercise. Get those children off the bridge.” And so Whistler redrew it and put them back fishing from the bank of the river. The lieutenant got even angrier and said, “I told you to get them completely out of the picture.” So in the last version, Whistler drew the stone bridge and the river, and added two li le tombstones on the riverside with the children's names on them! This is the symbol of the way that many of us have lost our heart and, ul mately, lost connec on with ourselves. In fact, it took Whistler many years of pain ng to re-awaken the spirit of the child in himself. Like, Whistler, most of us must find our own way to reclaim our buried tears and grief, and passing through them, rediscover a renewed source of playfulness and joy. The great tradi ons of medita on and prayer, of contempla ve life, offer ways that helps us to listen deeply, to restore this lost connec on. One of the quali es they foster that allows us to stay in touch with our heart

is s llness. We need to step out of “doing” me to “being.” We need a Sabbath, a regular holy day, a regular me to stop and reconnect with the spirit that moves through all things. Even doing too many good deeds can be problem for us. As Thomas Merton said, “To allow oneself to be carried away by a mul tude of conflic ng concerns, to surrender to too many demands, to commit oneself to too many good projects, to want to help everyone and everything, is itself to succumb to the violence of our me.” So what we seek in living from the heart is a rhythm in life that includes me for renewal in nature: me to walk for no purpose at all; me to sit s ll; me to listen to the sounds of life around us; me to listen to our bodies; me to listen to our hearts. Medita on can teach us this art with the simple grace of following our breath in and out un l we feel the life rhythm that always moves in our bodies. Then we can listen to the stories the mind is telling, to the longing of the heart, and the things we most deeply value. Medita on cul vates a quality of sacred a en on. It is a prayer that doesn't ask for what we want, but opens us to hear, “Not my will but Thine” a prayer that listens to the whole being.

When you love God first, you love your spouse more, when you love God first, you love your children more. We should always love God first, not people first, then we have the power to love the people with rich and uncondi onal fatherly/motherly love. Robert Browning once said, “One man's death diminishes me no ma er where it is.” We are all part of one another and so, interwoven; it's a kind of divine architectural ecology that encompasses us all and cannot be violated. Remember, it's a good life if we don't weaken. I conclude with the words of Mar n Luther, “only a li le of the first fruits of wisdom, only a few fragments of the boundless heights, breaths, and depths of truth, have I been able to gather regarding this bonding, enjoy the beginning and the best is yet to be.” Sending you all the way light, love and a moment of prayer for you and your family. Let your life be full and happy always. Fraternally yours,

Parents are air traffic controllers whose responsibility is to guide their children and ins ll in them a sense of responsibility for their own learning. An air traffic controller does not fly the plane like a pilot does but plays a crucial role to ensure that the plane takes off and lands safely. With a view to re-establishing the importance of the role of parents that has hitherto been taken for granted, the theme of the year “My Parents, My Love, forever I'll serve”, was the focal point around which ac vi es of the school

Pearls of wisdom

Pearls of wisdom MONEY IS NOT EVERYTHING What we require for our happiness is not what money can buy. A per nent quote scams it up.

“SIMPLICITY IS THE ULTIMATE SOPHISTICATION”-

Money can get us: A book, but not brains, A house, but not home. Medicines, but not health. Amusement, but not happiness. An idol, but not God!

Why Should We Embrace Living A Simple Life....? Leonardo Da Vinci.

A bed, but not sleep. Clothes, but not beauty. Luxuries, but not culture. A church, but not heaven. A friend, but not friendship!

God has gi ed life to millions of Creatures on earth and man is one of them. Our beau ful mother nature with all its richness of life is surviving since me immemorial - not with money but with love and affec on.

Why should we consider living a simple life? We will live a life of peace and not chaos, a life of essen als and not complica on. We will slow down and stop living the frazzled life, a lifestyle of stress. We will learn to relax with private me and solitude. We will live a good life, of pleasure, flow, meaning and purpose. THOUGH EVERYTHING IS IMPERMANENT, though everything changes, we will focus our me, energy and financial resources on the important things in life. We will be able to live within our means and avoid the burden of a mountain of debt. We will live

Our most basic necessi es in life are air, water and food but the most important of all of them is love. To live a happy life, we should live life to the fullest. To help someone, to have everybody around us, to make others happy we do not need money. A person is not happy if he has lots of money and luxuries, but he is happy only if he is sa sfied in life. He needs to be content with what life gives him because, “MONEY IS NOT EVERYTHING, IT IS ONLY SOMETHING. IT IS ONLY FOR OUR LIVING, NOT FOR LIFE”.

mindfully, in the present moment, and not ruminate with worry of the future or regrets of the past. We will live a balanced Iife and have me for work, family, love, leisure pursuits, fitness and spirituality. We will have freedom from those condi ons, commitments, responsibili es and people who prevent us from living the good life. We will have the freedom to own our desires. Living content with li le is our greatest wealth for a be er tomorrow.

Hence a human touch is more important than money. Mrs. A. Jeni aHephzibah Mrs. Jenneth Francis

Pearls of wisdom behavior, a tude, knowledge, nobility, obedience, compassion towards poor and duty towards parents one can live by their thirukural. As a kid I take accountability for my studies, for being honest, for working hard to meet the standard set by my parents – this takes care of knowledge, nobility, obedience, a tude, and behaviour. What's up with the 'duty towards parents' I thought? I had no straight answers and so I started observing how my parents perform their duty towards my grandparents. The love, respect, care, gra tude my dad and mom showed to their parents is mind-blowing! Wan ng to know how my parents do so much in so li le me they got I sat with them one night asking for an explana on of how it's even possible. My dad said that caring for his parents is a beau ful and emo onal experience and should not be seen as a grim fate, but instead as a blessing. My mom said, taking on the responsibility of caring for her parents can be a big challenge, but it represents a great second chance to show her parents how much she loves them and appreciates the sacrifices that they have made for her.

“I need to go no further to travel the whole world”, told Lord Ganesha to his parents circling them thrice and then claiming them to be his whole world. The story made no sense to me when I heard it as an eight year old. Now, at fourteen, I have come across a saying that said: “ To the world you might be one person; but to your parents you are the world.” Seeing this, I remember the story of Lord Ganesha, re-read it and realized it a bit. It has started to make sense now. From day one of my birth, my parents have been spending their lives teaching, nourishing and moulding me into being a good human being everyday making sacrifices and ensuring that my needs are met every moment. It has been their most important goal. Waking up first and going to bed last is part of their livelihood now. Why then shouldn't I think of them the way Lord Ganesha thought of his parents – “the whole world to me”

‘I thought’, why are several parents abandoned by their children in nursing homes and Homes for the aged, when their very own children can care for them? “why can't everyone be like my parents?” If only it's the case, the elderly will not be turning out to be the most neglected demographic in our society.

Kobe Brynt, a famous basketball player said, “My parents are my backbone. S ll are, they are the only group that will support you if you score a zero or score 40.” This is true for my parents – they don't just love me in my perfec ons, they hold hands and stand by me during my imperfec on!

Michael Jordan said of his parents, “My heroes are and were my parents. I can't see having anyone else as my heroes.” So am I. My parents are my real heroes and I will serve them as long they live. Like Ganesha, I might end up circling them not just three mes, not seven mes, but seventy mes seven as quoted by Jesus in the Bible.

When deep in thought, I remember a Thirukkural which says, 'the duty of a son to his father is to make everyone wonder, what penance the father has performed to beget him?' but virtue of

Pearls of wisdom

We should understand the importance of trees in our lives and do our best to save them and consequently save the Earth. Industrializa on is the leading cause of deforesta on. A tree produces 260 pounds of oxygen in a year. Also in a year, a tree can absorb as much carbon dioxide produced by a car driving 26,000 miles. Research shows that 15.3 billion trees are cut down every year. One and a half acres of forest is deforested every second. Referred to as the “lungs of the Earth” the Amazon Rainforest has been reduced to 20% of its original size over the last 40 years. It has been found that the loss of trees is connected to higher death rates in human beings.

I travel together in my journey of life with this one person who can fill up any place which is the need of the hour, that of a mom, a dad, a friend, a teacher, a doctor, a guide and what not. I have read that life is a journey filled with impressions le upon one, some from fights and some from words. It is these impressions that create the persons we are. Some impress so deeply, that they become the founda on on which we build our morals and ethical standards. For me that person has always been my mom!. Any human being ought to have some good and some, not so good quali es. So is my mom. Then why do I admire her so much? Whenever I have a problem or issue I always go to my mom and she replies with a smile many mes it does not happen so or be what I want to hear or like, but I know she always leads me in the right path. When we disobey and fight back with the person who gave birth to us, do we stop to think how many children are parentless or orphans? We are gi ed and blessed so much that we get all the facili es and s ll are stubborn and fight. How much affec on they have showered upon you even if you've given them many sleepless nights and pain? They have faced many turmoils and have brought you up ll today. The only thought in a parent’s mind is: “Our children should be the best and should have the best”. We will never accomplish anything worthwhile in our life without the sacrifices, love and care of our parents. It is for your success, to teach you good values, to get you trained for the real world. It's God's command to love, respect and honour our parents. “The Greatest Blessing of God any child could have is Parents”.

"My parents, My love forever I'll serve." The very theme is so inspiring and it's the need of the hour because we see the alarming rise of the old age homes in lndia. Our country showcases the world about the divinity of joint family and culture. Right from our birth we are dependent on our parents who shed their sweat and blood to upli us. They burn like a candle and deplete their youth to mould us. Now when the table turns, as they become old, it's our turn to repay our debt to them by honouring their labour for us. Let's swear to give them a comfortable second childhood stage and serve them forever. So dear friends let this theme be our life's mo o “My Parents, My Love, Forever I will serve”.

So love and serve them, because we owe them a lot.

COMPASSION It was a fine Sunday a ernoon and I was playing a video game with my li le brother. Just as the game was about to come to an end, we heard someone knock the front door. Reluctantly, my brother opened the door and it was Rita, a li le girl who lived next door. She was gasping for breath. A er a few moments, 'Come down, both of you', she told us, 'A baby pigeon is badly hurt'. There was a trace of urgency in her voice. My brother and I exchanged quick glances. He paused the video game and the three of us raced downstairs. Rita led us to the place which was a few blocks away from our apartment. What my eyes saw was a blood-soaked creature. It was trying to move, but couldn't. It had round orange eyes. It was dirty, disgus ng and a bit sickening. It was definitely an unpleasant sight. But what my heart saw was totally different. My heart saw a life struggling with pain. The need for love and comfort was seen in its eyes. The li le fellow surely needed care and compassion. The watchman of our apartment, who was not far from us began to describe how the baby pigeon had got hurt, 'A crow pushed this baby pigeon from the terrace, poor creature', he sighed. 'It probably didn't know how to fly. I don't think it will survive. I'll put it beside the common bin. l am pre y sure it will die, by tomorrow morning'. “The greatness of a na on and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”. Keeping these golden words of Mahatma Gandhi in my mind, I told my brother to bring co on, pieces of so cloth and a bowl of water. I then told Rita to get one of the

66

cardboard boxes from the car shed. Both of them rushed in different direc ons. At this, 'Waste of me!', hollered the watchman, 'I'm telling you it won't survive. Its neck was pecked by the crow. See how badly it's hurt. Go home, kids. This is unnecessary'. 'No', I began. Just then Rita and my brother appeared with the things I had asked them to fetch. We quickly stuffed the cardboard box with co on and so pieces of cloth. Then we carefully placed the blood-soaked pigeon in the cardboard box. We did take the help of the watchman who kept shaking his head and murmuring words of disapproval. We placed the box in a safe room and went home. Next morning, we got ready for school and before boarding our bus, paid the pigeon a visit. The pigeon was out of the cardboard box. How it had managed to jump out, we don't know. The pigeon was happily stumbling here and there. It was recovering. My brother and I smiled. Once again, a er school, we went to see the pigeon. Imagine how dumbstruck we were when there was no sign of the pigeon. I was silenced with shock and my brother started sulking. Disappointed, we slowly began walking towards our home. Just then the watchman called us and told us how the pigeon had wobbled out of the room and how it had flown away. Wide smiles spread across our faces. We high-fived each other for we had successfully nursed a badly injured pigeon back to health, without any proper knowledge on veterinary science. My brother ran as fast as he could, to tell Rita the good news. As Albert Schweitzer had rightly said, “The purpose of human life is to serve and to show compassion and the will to help others”.

Joy of giving “It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving” - Says Mother Teresa We feel cheerful when we share. The great joy comes when others are happy due to our kindness. We should understand that giving provides an intrinsic reward to the giver that is far more valuable than receiving. I feel 'giving' is one of the best investments I can make towards achieving genuine happiness in my life. But remember that true giving comes from the heart with no expecta on and reciproca on. I've a ained this great happiness by par cipa ng in the ‘Joy of giving week’ program conducted by our school to bring out our generosity and show how much we care for others. As a family we felt delighted by giving the resources that were collected for orphanages and different homes around Trichy. We discovered that giving & sharing are one of the reasons God has blessed us with abundance from our birth. One virtue of Chris ans is that they celebrate Christmas, Hindus celebrate Diwali and Muslims celebrate Ramzan. It is to mul ply their happiness by sharing and giving. Something here that is magical is that when I have something it's just me who is happy, but when I give, I make someone else happy and when they share, many millions can be made happy and it could even be the resource to rejuvenate their lives. I've felt this power of giving and encourage all of you to give in order to get. When wealth is lost nothing is lost but something is found. So “To find yourself, lose yourself in the service of others” as Mahatma Gandhi Said.

“My Parents, My love Forever I'll serve” “To describe mothers would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power or the climbing, falling colours of a rainbow”, says Maya Angelou. She takes part in our strenuous situa ons and forgives us even for our worst mistakes. At mes we wail. “Oh! why is she such an embarrassment? But, she s ll remains calm and pa ent. Her bonfire of love wraps us in its warmth. She may not look perfect; a few wrinkles does not ma er. But, she has the most charming smile in this world. And her name is – “Mother”. The heart of a father is the master piece of nature. His red smile tells us how many trauma c situa ons he had gone through just to see that beam on our face. Some mes, he scolds us, just to make sure our blunders don't affect us in the future. He helps us in choosing the right path for which we will never feel guilty about and we call him - “Father”. Our parents deserve more credit than anything in this world; more than our cri cism; more than our nags. They are the reason behind our success. They deserve our love and we must serve them forever. “The voice of Parents is the voice of God. For, to their children they are heaven's lieutenants” says William Shakespeare. So, let's all say, “My parents my Love! Forever I'll serve!”

NATURE Nature is the most important and integral part of the lives of everyone. Everyone has been blessed with the true love of God in the form of beau ful nature. We should never miss the pleasure of enjoying nature. Nature has been the most favourite topic of the works of many famous poets, writers, painters and ar sts. Nature is the beau ful crea on of God a precious gi which he blessed us with. Nature is everything which surrounds us like water, air, land, sky, fire, river, forests, animals, birds, plants, sun, moon, stars, sea, lake, rain, thunder, storm, etc. Nature is very colourful and has both living and non-living things in its lap. Everything in nature has its own power and uniqueness provided by God. It has its many forms which change from season to season and from minute to minute such as the sea which looks bright blue in the morning but by noon it looks emerald green. The sky changes its colour all through the day from pale pink at sunrise, dazzling blue in late morning, bright orange in evening at sunset and purple by twilight, our mood also gets changed according to nature such as happy and hopeful at sun shine, rainy season and spring season. We feel hear ly happy at moonlight and a li le bored and red in bright sun light. Nature has some powerful transforma ve powers which change our mood and behaviour accordingly. Nature has power to recover the pa ents from their diseases if they are provided with the required and pleasant environment. Nature is very essen al for our healthy life so we should keep it clean and conserve it for our future genera ons. We should not cut trees and forests, should not despoil the ocean and rivers. We should not make a hole in the ozone layer, should not increase green house effect, global warming and many more through our selfish ac vi es. We should be fully aware about nature and try our best to protect and preserve it so that it can nourish life on the earth forever.

MOTHER I want to dedicate this ar cle to each and every mother on earth. There is an old saying “God cannot be present everywhere, so he created mother”. Mother has several names 'Amma', 'Ari', 'Ail', 'Bau', 'Mama' , 'Mom' etc. Mother is the one who brings up life a er bearing tremendous pain, agony and discomfort to this materialis c world. The first breath which a child takes is in his/her mother's womb. She is the very cause of our existence. Mother is our first protector, guide, tutor, philosopher and our first love etc. She always thinks first about her child's care than anyone else in her family without expec ng anything in return from the child. Mother is the one who takes all the pain so she can give love and care. Mother is the ul mate name of sacrifice, she can sacrifice anything in her life for the be erment of her child. Mother is like an umbrella who can go to any extent to protect her new born to fully grown. There is an old saying, “The heart of the mother is a deep abyss, at the bo om of which you always find forgiveness”. There are certain words which can be directly linked to mother they are: love, affec on, care, forgiveness, sacrifice, protec on, emo on and sen ments. Mother is a lovely feeling for each and every child. We should take care of our mother all through the life. Everyone and everything can be replaced but not mother. Mother cannot be described by mere words. We celebrate 13 May as Mother's Day. So undoubtedly we can say that mother is a masterpiece created by God. Before I conclude, I would like to say one of my favourite sayings, “Of all the gi s that life has to offer, a loving mother is the greatest of them all.” Sai Aditya Panda VI G

My gratitude to

This is a fic onal le er wri en by a daughter to her parents conveying an emo onal message on how grateful she is to them for guiding her to a successful life. Dear Mom and Dad, Quite surprising that your daughter wrote a long le er to you instead of sending you a quick text message right? Well, I decided to do this because wri ng le ers requires dedica on and that might show how sincere my gra tude is. I'm a person with a good job, a good apartment and a secure life. Who's the reason behind your success they ask? I tell it's my parents. Yes, you're the reason I'm currently successful and secure. You may be thinking “Why is our daughter so formal in this le er?''. That's because I'm not only wri ng to my parents but also mentors who taught me to be humble even when I have all the success, who taught me that money is nothing in front of human values, who taught me to be thick skinned even when life gets me good and most importantly, taught me to accept my mistakes and failures. Mom. I will never forget that day when you were next to me while my life was a mess and that too at a really young age. I had to learn so many lessons the hard way. I had to go through things that really was too much for a child. But you toughened me up, made me walk if I couldn't run, made me crawl if I couldn't walk and right now I'm an independent woman. Of course, can I forget you dad? Especially the me when you got me a puzzle board instead of that China doll I had my eyes on. You

always knew what was best for me. Now when I think about it, I s ll use that puzzle board to get my mind relaxed when I'm under work stress. You could've been a father who spoils his daughter. But you made sure that I was grateful, responsible and content with what I had. You taught me not to be deceived by people and it helped me a lot when I had to face the world alone without you. You taught me to overcome anxiety, depression and insecuri es. Mom and Dad, I apologize from the bo om of my heart for all the tantrums I threw upon you when I was s ll an immature girl who thought whatever I did was right. I apologize for all the things I did which disappointed you and broke your trust in me. I apologize for all the hur ul words I've spoken in anger. I apologize for all those moments I crossed my limit and disrespected you. Oh, and let's not forget, sorry for being li le James Bond and stealing all the candy as a child. There were mes when I've felt hopeless and times when I almost gave up on life. The moment you realized that I needed care, you embraced me with your affec on and promised me that you'd love me no ma er what and protect me. From that day, I've never felt empty. I felt like I had everything I wanted. There were mes when I thought I was a disappointment to you but you said that if I was a good human being, you'll never be more proud. Mom and Dad, I'd like to end my le er by saying one last thing. Thank you for all the affec on, love, fun, happiness, lessons, scolding and memories you've blessed me with. I love you. Equality for

Transgender

"Why are transgenders ill-treated?" Is it because they are a minority? Or is it because of our so called "Indian Myth?" When murderers, rapists, kidnappers and people who commit the worst of sins can be treated equally, then why shouldn't the transgenders not be treated equally? Yes, I agree there are trans who also commit sin, but why do they even do that? It’s all because we don't give them equal opportuni es especially when it comes to job! And yes, which school or college even gives them admissions? For all those people who say Trans are a liability for the society, here I have some examples to give you: I.

II.

Padmini Prakash: A vocal ar st, a trained Kathak dancer and Miss Transgender in India.

I wish that soon they also get a separate symbol added up in our restrooms for the benefit of transgenders. "A Transgender should be treated equally; they should get equal respect and opportuni es." They maybe our Country's TOMORROW.

III.

Madhu Bai Kinnar: She is a street play ar st and also a folk dance performer who earlier earned her living by singing and dancing on trains.

“Hate is a choice. Being Trans is not. Stop the hate. Show Respect. We are all HUMAN.”

IV.

Bharathi: She has a Bachelor's degree in Theology and is now serving as a pastor at Evangelical Church.

V.

76

Kalai Subramaniam: Has 2 degrees, one in Journalism and Mass communica on, and another in Interpersonal Rela ons. Kalai is a journalist, a writer, and a social ac vist who is also the founder of the Sahodari founda on for transgender community.

Do you s ll say All the transgenders are murderers and so on? When our Indian Cons tu on says "ALL SHOULD BE TREATED EQUALLY REGARDLESS OF THEIR GENDER" why are they s ll ill-treated even before the law? Our people say they do support transgender equality in India but who follows this in real life? "Our ACTIONS are valued more than Our WORDS." When there is no separate restrooms for transgender what does "SWACHH BHARAT" even mean? Now I strongly state that "Our Indian cons tu on is just a bulk of paper which is not completely into effect yet!" As Men and Women, Transgender is also a gender. People who say that transgenders involve themselves in illegal jobs, even men and women do that. If you say transgenders are the destroyers of our society, then what would you name a man who rapes a new born baby in India?

Manabi Bandyopadhyay: She is currently an Associate Professor in Bengali at Vivekananda Satorbarshiki Mahavidyalaya and soon will be serving as the Principal of Krishnanagar Women's College. She is an author of the bestselling novel, “Endless Bondage about Hijars.”
