Welcome information for the Halifax Family Brick Show Sunday 29th September 2019 Threeways Leisure Centre, Nursery Lane, Halifax, HX3 5SW **Important** Please read below regarding parking and access. Tickets … do we need them on paper?  No … but it helps!  You’re receiving this email having booked tickets to the show.  Whilst it’s not crucial that you print these out, having a paper copy will allow a quicker entry once at the venue. If you have them on your phone then the event staff at reception just need to check your name off on our printed list first.  All visitors will receive a hand stamp from the ticket desk which allows you to re-enter the main hall if you decide to leave the venue for whatever reason.  Children under 5 do not require a ticket as the event is aimed at ages 5+. We do ask that grown-ups consider whether they need any strollers to avoid clogging up the walk ways. Can we park at the event?  Yes! Due to the layout of the venue grounds, the decision has been taken to bring visitor cars in through a second entrance which provides better access to the parking areas.  If you are arriving by car you have two options: o Drive to the entrance on Club Lane (HX2 8DG) and follow instructions from our Hi-Viz team to park up. o Drive to the pedestrian entrance on Nursery Lane (HX3 5SW) and park on street to walk in.  Please respect the neighbouring homes and businesses when parking, or queuing to park.

What time should we arrive?  When the booking office first opened, visitors were offered the chance to purchase a ticket for one of two timeslots for entry.  The organisers have since simplified the ticketing system so entry can now be between 11am and 4pm unless you have a “Twilight” ticket. The organiser may adjust the opening time – in either direction – subject to a number of factors to ensure the safety of volunteers, exhibitors, or visitors.  “Twilight” tickets are for entry after 3pm as they potentially offer access during a quieter part of the show.  The organiser understand that things change in family life so if you need to arrive outside your timed ticket don’t worry.  The last entry is at 4pm and the show closes at 5pm at which stage visitors will be asked to leave and the event will begin to tidy away. Visitors will be made aware when there is just 30 minutes remaining. How long can we stay?  There’s no restriction on how long you stay at the event – but we’re closing the doors at 5pm.  If you want to leave and return later then just make sure you have a hand stamp at the reception. Is there plenty of parking?  Whilst the organisers have made every effort to provide ample parking on site it will require those arriving by car to respect the instructions of our Hi-Viz wearing volunteers to ensure we make best use of the space.  Parking on street on Nursery Lane (HX3 5SW) will allow visitors to walk a short distance through our pedestrian entrance. Is public transport an option?  If you would rather leave the car behind then this link (http://tiny.cc/halifaxbrickbus) might help you with a bus from Halifax Bus Station which stops right outside the pedestrian access to the event!  Please note that the organisers cannot be held responsible for cancellations or delays so please check before travelling. Can we spend any money?  Yes! The event is partially supported by the traders who have been specially selected to make the show a positive experience for our visitors.  We have a range of LEGO brick based stalls which sell a wide range of products from individual minifigures right through to hard to find, retired, LEGO sets.  There will also be: o Face painter in the main hall o Coffee van outside at the entrance to the building o Sweet stall in the entrance Do you accept card payments?  Some of the traders will have card payment facility but the organisers cannot guarantee it will be working 100% of the event.  There are cash machines located a short distance if travelling by car: o Tesco Esso Express, Keighley Road, Halifax HX2 8BA o Morrisons, 81 Keighley Road, Halifax HX2 8HU  Cash will be accepted by all traders.  There is no additional charge for the Construction Zone build area. Can we let the kids go off on their own?  No! Children must be accompanied by their adult at all times and cannot be left unattended.  The organisers have tried to ensure that this is a family friendly event but recognise that it’s also likely to be very busy.  The event has been planned for ages 5+ but the organisers understand that there will be some under 5s attending. We do not have specific activities for this age group and want parents to be aware of this in advance. What’s the Construction Zone?  The Construction Zone is located just across from the main show building and allows kids (aged 5+ and including 18+!) to have a play themselves but all LEGO bricks must remain in that area.  This freeplay area is free to visitors and staffed by the friendly Bricks4Kidz Team.

Can we take photographs?  Absolutely and the organisers encourage you to capture the amazing models on “film” as it helps build the pride felt by those who have spent many hours of their time creating the displays.  Please also share your photos on our Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/halifaxbrickshow  Please respect the fragility of the displays and refrain from touching / handling the models. This is just as important for the big kids as it is for those under 18 years!!! Is there anything we can win?  The traders have all kindly contributed to a show raffle where all the goodies they have donated will be split between two winners!  Tickets are on sale just inside the main hall and are £1 each.  The winning tickets will be drawn just after 4pm and if the winners are not present we will contact them later to arrange delivery of their prizes.  All proceeds go towards supporting the venue development. Who’s organised the show?  Whilst the organisers are Bricktopia and Bricks4Kidz – the local award winning children’s edutainment company – it’s a joint effort working in partnership with the management of the Threeways Centre.  In addition, the volunteers and exhibitors (AFOLs – Adult Fans Of LEGO) are giving up their time freely to provide the models and service to families and visitors. Some have travelled for many hours to support the show.  The organiser would also like to thank Brick Alley and Northern Brickworks – two LUGs (LEGO User Groups) for their support.
