I am graduating in the spring of 2022 and have been working towards becoming an effective OTA&PTA within the healthcare setting throughout my time at Centennial College. During my time as a student, I have had the opportunity to complete my placements at a long-term care facility, Toronto General Hospital within the general internal medicine unit, and I am currently completing my last placement at Physio-Logic Rehabilitation Services with patients presenting with neurological conditions such as Cerebral Vascular Accidents (CVA), Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI), Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Parkinson’s Disease (PD). With the skills that I have acquired throughout my placements, as well as, my previous experience working in retail services, I believe that I will be able to use these skills effectively while working within your workplace. With my clinical experience listed in my resume, I have helped patients with ambulation and bed exercises to regain mobility and work towards moving to rehab. My experience with working in retail services as well as being a youth basketball coach has allowed me to effectively use my communication skills with patients while leading treatment sessions independently and reporting treatment sessions with other team members. With UHN’s belief being, “Above all else, the patient’s needs come first,” I believe that I will be able to contribute to UHN’s mission to put the patient’s needs first. With the time spent throughout my placements, I have continued to acquire and improve skills that have allowed me to effectively work with patients and within an interdisciplinary team setting. Throughout my time at UHN’s Toronto General Hospital, I have continued to develop my communication skills and improve my therapeutic communication with patients. Thank you for taking the time to read my cover letter as well as my resume. I look forward to speaking with you more about working within this organization.
