2022 BASEBALL

On behalf of Central Penn College and our student-athletes, I want to extend a big “thank you” for all of the support and dedication you have shown to our programs.
Athletics at Central Penn are geared to complement our academic programs, and we believe that they are a vital part of the educational process and student experience.
My goal as Athletic Director is to engage students in a positive, life-changing experience through athletics. The everyday challenges in competition can bring out one’s true character and exemplify the importance of leadership and teamwork. This is something we desire to instill in our athletes, as it helps benefit their educational endeavors and enables them to achieve greater success in their future careers.
Our student-athletes truly embrace what it means to be a Central Penn Knight! I couldn’t be prouder of our athletes and their ability to balance classes, work, personal obligations and athletic responsibilities to represent our institution. If you think you have what it takes to become a Knight, please complete the recruiting form at centralpennknights.com or email my office at Athletics@centralpenn.edu.
I look forward to seeing the support of our sports teams at Central Penn continue to grow. I encourage you to get out and cheer on our student-athletes. They represent the best of our community and what it truly means to be a part of the Central Penn College family!
As always, Go Knights!
Kasey Hicks
Athletic Director
Central Penn College
Head Coach Robert Stern is entering his fifth year at Central Penn College. In his inaugural season in 2018, Stern led the team to a 16–13 record. During his second season, the Knights battled to an 8–14 record. At the beginning of the 2019-2020 season, the Knights jumped out to a 7–1 start (best in the school’s history), before the season ended prematurely due to the COVID–19 pandemic. Stern believes the team was on the verge of its first 20-win season.
Over his four-year tenure—which includes two COVID-curtailed seasons—the Knights have achieved a record of 37–40.
A Harrisburg High School graduate, Stern coached at his alma mater for 14 years, 1998–2012. He served as the head junior varsity coach and also the assistant varsity coach during that time. In addition, he has coached Legion baseball in the Harrisburg area for seven years. He has also been involved in numerous leagues and other organizations since 1988. He is the founder of Mutts Baseball, a high school travel team that has been playing in summer and fall tournaments since 2011.

The Harrisburg Senators and Central Penn College (CPC) announced that FNB Field—home of the Harrisburg Senators—will become the home field for the Central Penn Knights for 10 games during their 2022 season.
“The Senators are an outstanding organization, committed to providing area fans a quality baseball experience for more than 30 years, and we are elated to be working with them,” said President Linda Fedrizzi-Williams. “This partnership marks a milestone for Central Penn College Athletics, our students, and the entire college.”
“We are thrilled to partner with Central Penn College in an effort to raise the profile of their baseball program and provide a place for their students to play ball,” said Kevin Kulp, president of the Harrisburg Senators. “They have been a great partner of ours for years and when this opportunity popped up, we jumped at the chance. We think this is a great win-win for both of us.”
The Senators are the Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. There are currently 18 former Senators on the Nationals 40-man roster. In addition, 288 major leaguers have played for the Senators since 1987, including Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero who donned a Senators uniform during the 1996 season.
The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) is a membership driven organization. Our athletic directors, administrators, and presidents are at the forefront of our growth and decision making, ensuring that we are serving our mission by providing opportunities for small colleges.
The USCAA is a national governing body that provides quality intercollegiate athletic competition on a national level.
The USCAA exists to provide small colleges the opportunity to compete against like institutions in size and athletic programs for National Championships and student-athlete recognition. By providing unique services to small colleges, the USCAA allows its members the opportunity to enhance their recruiting capabilities by way of more consistent national recognition and a level playing field for post-season competition.
In 2021, the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) approved the creation of the new Eastern States Athletic Conference, which includes Central Penn College and the following three Pennsylvania-based institutions:
Bucks County Community College – Newtown Manor College – Jenkintown Williamson College of the Trades – Media
“Central Penn College is beyond excited to take this next step in athletics by joining the Eastern States Athletic Conference,” said Kasey Hicks, athletic director at the Summerdalebased institution. Conference teams will play each other twice during the season starting in 2022.
ESAC is looking to add at least two more members, which will result in an automatic bid for the winner of the conference to the USCAA championship tournament. Contact athletic director, Kasey Hicks at athletics@centralpenn.edu if interested.
