With the launch of the Internet Protocol (IP) cameras, the quality of the video recorded improved with an increase in the storage requirements. The digital disks got replaced with the HDDs. Along with this replacement, the recorders got attached over the network instead of getting directly attaching to the cameras, thus providing a common storage for all the camera feeds.
