What an honour it is for the Guernsey Indoor Bowling Association to have been selected to host this prestigious event with thirty countries from all over the world coming to Guernsey to participate.
This would not have been possible without the hard work over many months of the organising committee led by Council Members Josh and Catherine Bonsall, Ian Merrien along with Ali Merrien, who have all dedicated many hours to get everything ready.
Then we must also thank all the sponsors for their support, without them this event would not be possible.
Not forgetting all the volunteers that over the week of the Championship will be marking the games and those helping out in many other roles, Also thanks to the International Technical Officials travelling over from the UK.
We are all very much looking forward to giving all the competitors and officials a big welcome to our lovely Island of Guernsey.
Steve Desperques PresidentWelcome to all competitors, officials and spectators to Guernsey for the World Bowls Indoor Championships.
I am proud and privileged to be President of the International Indoor Bowls Council and be able to say that Guernsey is my home.
It has been 34 years since the World Indoor Championships were held in Guernsey, we are delighted to have 30 countries involved with this year’s competition.
Our thanks go to the Guernsey Indoor Bowling Association (GIBA) for hosting this event, we know how much work the GIBA Council, members & volunteers have put in behind the scenes to ensure these championships come to fruition and are confident of a truly exciting week of competition.
Personally, I am looking forward to meeting up with old friends and making new ones.
I wish all competitors good bowling and hope you enjoy your week in Guernsey for this wonderful event.
Alison Merrien MBE President IIBCIt gives me great pleasure on behalf of the World Bowls Board and staff, to welcome all players, officials, and spectators to the 2024 World Bowls Indoor Championship to Guernsey Indoor Bowls Stadium on the beautiful island of Guernsey.
This event is one of the most prestigious events staged by World Bowls (and the International Indoor Bowls Council) and to see it held at a tourism and event destination that will provide a wonderful experience for all.
The event brings 30 countries together comprising of 29 women and men who have all found their way to the pinnacle of their singles journey in their home countries –the best of the best amongst their peers.
My thanks go to Guernsey Indoor Bowls Association who have offered the Indoor Bowls Club and their full support in organising this event. I am sure every person visiting the Club will find the facilities and the hospitality to their liking.
For those people who are visiting this part of the world for the first time, I am positive you will have an unforgettable stay and have many unique experiences and certainly make many new friends and it will be a chance for people returning to renew old friendships and create many new memories.
