MESSAGE FROM THE HEADMISTRESS
Mrs
Aislinn Capindale

Mrs
This week, Year 2 children have been learning about measuring length and height. Yesterday's lesson introduced measuring in meters. The pupils solved puzzles such as whether an elephant would fit in the classroom and if a baby giraffe could fit through the classroom door by researching their heights and then measuring the room. Next, the children found out that the longest snake in captivity was 7m 67cm. The children were tasked with measuring this distance accurately using only one meter stick. The children problem-solved using chalk to mark a meter and then moved it along. We worked out that the distance was the same as six children lying head to toe! Shocking!
