CRIMINOLOGY

CRIMINOLOGY Criminology is the scientific study of crime and criminals, incorporating a range of different subjects including Psychology, Sociology, Law and Forensic Science. The subject covers a variety of aspects related to crime from the causes of the crime to the processes involved in criminal investigations such as forensics and offender profiling.

CRIMINOLOGY CERTIFICATE • LEVEL 2

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This course introduces you to the different types of crime and possible explanations as to why some people commit crime including biological, psychological and sociological theories.

Five GCSEs at grade 9–3, including English Language.

WHAT NEXT This course provides opportunities to continue studying in further education at Level 3 including Criminology.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

During the course, you will study the psychology of crime as well as analysing how the media reports crime. You will also investigate the techniques used in the investigation of a crime and the effectiveness of different strategies used to reduce criminality.

Five GCSEs at grade 9–4, including Maths and a minimum grade 5 in English Language. BTEC Level 2 qualifications considered in subject related courses.
