Message from the Head One of the highlights of my role is when children come to see me having been recommended for a Headteacher’s Commendation for outstanding work, effort, achievement or kindness. We celebrate this in a special Headteacher’s Commendation assembly each half-term and I am very grateful to Mrs Walmsley for displaying the results so imaginatively and creatively in the foyer of the Junior School. The photograph of the latest display from our assembly on Friday 29th April can be seen inside this edition of the Messenger. The work, including outstanding creative writing, wonderful Kimmy Cantrell inspired masks and highly informative Tokyo tourist leaflets, was of a particularly impressive standard. Congratulations to all the Commendation winners! Peter Doyle, Head of Junior School
House Music Competition Friday 8th April saw the very first House Music Competition. Featuring 60 instrumental and vocal soloists, the pupils performed to a packed Junior School hall. All entrants represented their House incredibly well and there were some super, entertaining and musical performances. Mrs Fong was invited as a special guest to adjudicate and all the performers received really helpful feedback. The competition ended with every child singing as part of their House. Songs included Roar, Don’t Stop Believing, How Far I’ll Go and Hakuna Matata. The overall winners were Holderness. A huge thank you to Mrs Fong, all Junior staff for teaching their House songs and to Mrs Redhead for organising the event.
