I am thrilled to announce the first Vice Presidents’ Luncheon of the season, a time-honored tradition where we come together not only to celebrate our shared love for rugby but also to strengthen the bonds that make our club a true family. This luncheon serves as an occasion to reflect on our past successes and look forward to the promising future that lies ahead.
This season, we have the distinct pleasure of welcoming Stockwood Park as our esteemed guests. The spirit of camaraderie and competition that defines rugby will undoubtedly be on full display as we engage in a battle of strength, skill, and sportsmanship on the field. Stamford vs Market Bosworth
In a riveting clash, Market Bosworth squared off against Stamford, with both sides eager to extend their winning streaks in the fiercely competitive Counties 1 Midlands East (South) League.
The match commenced with a bang as Market Bosworth drew first blood through a precise penalty kick by Joe Randon, setting the tone for an intense showdown. Stamford, however, wasted no time in countering, securing the game’s first try, swiftly followed by a successful conversion.
Undeterred, Market Bosworth mounted a spirited comeback. A well-executed cross-kick into Stamford’s twenty-two and a meticulously executed lineout paved the way for James Borley’s well-deserved try. Joe Randon’s precise conversion swung the momentum back in Market Bosworth’s favor.
The game’s flow was occasionally interrupted by injuries on both sides,

necessitating breaks for hydration due to the sweltering conditions. Stamford seized an opportunity presented by a penalty, securing another try and conversion. However, the game’s rhythm was disrupted when an ill-fated pass gifted Market Bosworth a valuable line-out.
Market Bosworth’s fullback, Will Clarke, emerged as a standout player, contributing a crucial try just before halftime, narrowing the gap and reigniting hopes for a comeback. Stamford, however, displayed their mettle by extending their lead with two quick tries, one of which featured a remarkable full-pitch run. The score stood at 33-17 as the teams headed into halftime.
The second half witnessed a reenergized Market Bosworth side launching a relentless offensive assault. Tom Randon’s well-placed try in the corner exemplified their unwavering
determination to claw back into the contest. Nevertheless, Stamford’s number eight exhibited sheer determination by breaking free from a scrum and orchestrating a try under the posts, maintaining their advantage.
Market Bosworth continued to embrace an open style of rugby, showing flashes of brilliance despite occasional mistakes that resulted in lost ground. Jordan Norton’s try under the posts, following a well-won line-out and a successful conversion by Randon, added to Market
Bosworth’s tally.
Despite their valiant efforts, Market Bosworth ultimately fell short against a formidable Stamford side. The match served as a testament to both teams’ commitment to delivering captivating rugby, with Stamford emerging as the victors in this exhilarating encounter.

We are proud to introduce Ben Buxton as the new head coach of the senior squad.
A career spanning a number of years, including playing for renowned teams such as Leicester Tigers, Moseley, and Nottingham, his wealth of experience on the pitch, particularly in the front row, has provided him with invaluable insights into the game which he now plans to impart to the team.
Furthermore, Ben’s coaching journey has been equally illustrious, having previously served as a coach for notable teams including Leicester Lions, Nottingham University, Newark, and Ilkestone. His coaching expertise, combined with his deep understanding of the sport, makes him an ideal fit for the team as they strive for excellence.
An incredible opportunity for our talented under-12s as they took the field at Rugby School, facing off against Barkers’ Butts as part of the illustrious institution’s 200th-anniversary
celebrations.
Before the match, our young players were treated to an enriching tour of Rugby School, a place imbued with a rich tapestry of history and tradition.
On the 24th September, we host the Under 11s & 12s ‘World Cup’ festival at Market Bosworth Rugby Club, featuring 20 clubs from across the country.

Market Bosworth RFC was founded in 1965 by a group of local rugby enthusiasts who were passionate about the sport and wanted to create a team that could compete against other local sides.
The founding members faced many challenges in those early years, including a lack of facilities, funding, and equipment. However, they were determined to succeed and worked tirelessly to build a strong and competitive team as well as the small matter of a clubhouse!
As the club grew, it began to attract more players and supporters. In the 1980s, the club achieved a significant milestone when it won the Leicestershire Merit Table and was promoted to the County League. This
Leicestershire Cup, the Warwickshire Vase, and the Midlands 5 West (North) league title. The club has also produced several talented players, some of whom have gone on to play professional rugby and represent both country and the British & Irish Lions.
Off the pitch, Market Bosworth RFC is an active member of the local community. The club run a number of programs to encourage local people to get involved in rugby, including youth coaching clinics, school programs, and social events for members of all ages as well as supporting local clubs and societies including the art club, the Young Farmers and the local Scout Group.
